Probably my favorite Murderbot so far! I loved how he had to get to M’s people to get intel, then do his plan to get M down to where they could recover her, then get her to the shuttle, but to get her thru he had to stay behind... loved that battle too! But Murderbot finally talking to M about the future... priceless!

This is the first one where the beginning didn’t drag a little! I was pretty anxious right along with Murderbot. Mensah is one of the human I care about in this series so I’m all in like he is!

I really enjoyed this despite the topic... I like L’s passion and the horrible creepy world.

18 - Ted shows up having destroyed DrJ’s waiting army!! So DrJ tries to blow the stadium but is stopped by Ted too. Hugo dissipates... did he die once and for all?! L is disgusted with Ted tearing through all those soldiers... Ted tells him he’ll need to fight at his level then. The Federation president was impressed though.

17 - The last heart was a fake! But L realizes it’s in her eye!!! At the end she asks him to help her brother... and we see him attached to all sorts of machines. Then L falls too so they wait to see who dies first... then Hugo shows up...?!

16 - Zach sees with his heat seeking eye that AJ has 8 hearts. It keeps the balance needed but allows for better blood flow needed in MMA fighting. He tells L! Dr Zach says kill him or her bro gets it and dials her up to 120%! Zach runs out to the stadium to tell L the 8 places... he gets 7 of them. L tells DJ that he keeps going thou the pain due to emotion!!

Of course he didn’t keep that promise. He makes AJ strip in the stadium... why?! And Zach is pissed. Hugo’s gym exec sends for Bill... who says he’ll save all 3! Set it up!! Then Zach decides to step up too!! It’s concerning AJ’s weakness...?!

15 - Jack tells AJ’s story... how her father was a revolutionary that wanted to free slaves. He made him a deal to free them for the man’s children. He wouldn’t agree until he’d been tortured and experimented on. Then he did for relief from his suffering. His daughter witnessed this deal and agreed to do it if he’d leave her bro alone.

Hugo’s dad had ordered Bill to be pulled out of the fight to save his son... but when he’s needed the dad balls knowing Hugo wouldn’t like that he ruined L’s chances of winning to save him! 😭

14 - L let AJ destroy his arm then hits her with his regular arm to distract her so he can use his damaged arm to blow steam into her... ensuring both would fall at the end of the round. The VIP judge admires! We learn the first guy we saw him fight wanted an honorable death at the hands of a promising talent... hence L went berserk to give him that! AJ also would rather that...

Ahhh L makes a deal with Dr Jack that he’ll go to Amethyst if he loses! Also I forgot but Huho flatlined!! He loses his arm in this bout too...

13 - love the color pages! Not sure what went on with Bill and Zach but I know he fears L will go to Amethyst...

12 - we got the rules of the bout. They fight and the art is so vivacious and emotive you feel like they are fighting right in front of you! L has 15 minutes before his parts fail... he has 11 minutes now. He knocks down AJ! He says she needs 120%!!

11 - we get some info on the MMA... kind of boring. The big thing is Bill reveals to Zach that L’s fight is big enough to start a war! If he wins Amethyst will go all out. The Dr reveals they are back in business. Also AJ is at 60%! She’s scary looking!

This was so bad 🤢 it’s so poorly written.

I like seeing different moments in their backhistory but the current story is crap. Harry is suddenly betraying his Lord too? I don’t believe it... it’s contrived. Suddenly A guesses it’s the General... so I’m not sure if it is... why would the current queen be a puppet? Isn’t it more likely she’s the Woman?

So Harry is revealed but he cuts all his skin off to hide it. Then he’s told he can kill them. Instead he causes them to run and jump into the lake and take off spells. Turns out Luna and A had spells, as did Quinlan covering scars on his back. Luna is really Pricilla? Anyway she doesn’t look like herself. A had her memories altered. Her real mother doesn’t look like Pricilla (the current queen?)

I also don’t like our MC. She throws hissy fits because things aren’t going her way and hating on her strongest allies. I do like how Quinlan brought her in line but they mainly fight against one another! It’s quite boring! And so much telling like with Harry... and in the beginning with A then Rose.

This is pretty poorly written... I guessed who the villains were as soon as they were introduced. Then we have Orion... a guardian. He isn’t as good as Quinlan and now he won’t believe about Harry. His character is all over the place. He’s a crap guardian too since he has no judgement... which is #1 with any sort of bodyguard. I do like the idea of trapping the “demon”

This is awful! I can’t keep track of characters... little sets apart the minor characters. And I always keep track even with a lot of them. Not much has happened either 😅 mentions of the gods is boring too! And the princess is so high and mighty...

Murderbot was turned off by how touchy feely human Miki was. It’s cute! His owner was devastated too at his core getting crushed but she also programmed him to defy her orders if he wanted. Loved how he made it look like he died too by getting sucked out of the shuttle.

Awww I loved Miki! His owner treated him like a friend so that is how he saw Murderbot Rin. He promised to keep him secret but revealed things all the time until the truth came out. But Murderbot kept his promise and rescued Miki’s friends even if Miki lost his own life!! I found the start slow again but Miki madd me laugh!

Confrontation really can do wonders in revealing the truth! I liked the end. Positive but not unrealistically sweet. The weight of expectations is high!

Woah! I figured the papers were wishes like some Asian cultures do... but I didn’t expect it to be flyers to matchmake kids behind their backs. I actually totally get why and it’s not what Americans think (it’s lack of brides)... though her mom is pretty certifiable.

I loved their frank conversation in the car... she admitted she broke into the safe but also called her mother on it for needing to hide things from the husband and daughter she claims to love. Mom admits she didn’t want Ali with Chase before learning about his family but won’t say what that reason is.

Ali eventually agrees to go to China right as her mother forces the issue. She talks to Chase who “needs more space” and her friends she fell out with. One girl who’s racist refuses to see it but wants Allie back?! Anyway Ali wants to learn all of her mother’s secrets and plans to unearth them in China!

Her great uncle arrives causing all this and they talk. He explains that his father left a China for Taiwan fearing for his life and abandoned he and his mother, remarrying and having a new life. His mother slit her throat and he was tortured as a political prisoner. Her mother sent him money so he could come visit them.* Ali concludes this last part.

Ali goes all spy ninja and with Chase’s help breaks into the counselor’s office to take photos of her file... and his! She learns his bro defrauded a bunch of people. When he learns what she did he fills in the details but they fight. Then she breaks into her mom’s new safe, learning they aren’t so poor because of all the scrimping and that her parents married for love.

What’s up with the alternate cross dressing story? It’s really odd and doesn’t really fit the story. Though I totally admire the girl for shaving her head like a man! It’s NOT pretty.

Awww it’s so adorable how they bonded so quickly. It really felt realistic and I think Chao’s writing really is key. It’s improved so much compared to American Panda. It’s so specific and I love how strong Ali’s narrative voice is! Her mom finding them on the roof is really random. And taking away Kung fu was stupid... talk about pushing her into a corner!
