26 - boring. Suzume goes back to school her normal self. Yuyuka is acting strange. S volunteers for the festival chairperson in their class. Her friends follow. A guy crowds S when she goes to get a drink.

25 - Their date is a success! Suzume wins her fish set. Yuyuka meets Mamura out with friends and tries to talk to him without success. Shishio admits he doesn’t think about consequences with her but just has fun.

24 - so they decide to go as a group. But Suzume’s friend decides to set it up so she’ll be alone with Mr Shishio like a date! She even blow drys her hair and they buy new clothes. They actually look like they go together now, Suzume loves the aquarium but Shishio is freaked out. They enter a couples competition!

23 - Tsubomi stops by to give Suzume an envelope to deliver to Mr Shishio. Eventually she does and he tells her they aren’t a couple like she assumed. T put a note and ticket to the aquarium in the envelope telling him a girl will come along to heal his heart. Haha still an icky teacher student situation

22 - She randomly meets Mamura’s dad in the grocery store advising him on freshness of fish. When she pays for his food he takes her home to pay her back. She’s able to make up with Mamura and learn his first name is Daiki. And meets his little bro Daichi! Haha I love meeting family!

The poor genetically created beast! Conveniently it died. And how convenient that this villain is so bad ass that things were forced to be revealed.

Gah I just didn’t like this. And if the animals were found at the Bellagio then they’d have legally claimed them. The end is so unrealistic. I don’t mind Trish resisting her mom wanting her to wear a dress but I just struggled with Trish who feels more like a 25 year old and this for middle grade readers.

So adult in tone. They sound 35 not 18. But the conflict between each is genuine enough.

They turned a compound into cake! And found Lemuria which was cool!

The Sphinx was scary cool! The Euclideans sure love to twist the truth. It’s the one thing I think was done right. We have to wade thru so much garbage reteric to find the real truth. I’m a little sickened how kisses are how we share our feelings when we don’t even know if the other person shares our sexuality. Not what I want taught to kids.

Trisha is freaking me out with her physical attraction to Jace. Yes part of love is the physical but these are young teens! Shouldn’t she be attracted to her emotionally first? They barely interact! This isn’t a good message for the kids reading this! If you like animals it’s okay.

Bryan Trisha’s school yard bully is made part of the team. Of course they don’t trust him. He was their enemy in the previous book. Jacinda Greyeyes a 16 year old is made their leader to hunt down the North American cryptids. Jackalope is their first one.

I’m not bonding with the 3 kids but I do like their magic!

I loved that she came clean to her dad! The final talent show was really neat. Sex with Rick was a little icky but this is more new adult than YA.

I’m team Xavier TBH. Rick is a good guy but also easily manipulated. And what Sophie did... I think I could forgive her but I’d never trust her again.

We jump to 4 months later and actually I didn’t mind that. It’s a lovely end. They both have different conditions they’ll have to deal with for the rest of their lives. I loved Eileen and how she stepped in with her brother! One of my favorite brother sister relationships ever.

The out of body experience was quite fascinating. I love how we peaked over Jamie’s shoulder. His parents were so true to their characters. Eileen I thought was a bit ridiculous.

Woah. I just love Jamie. She’s so needy like depressive people can be but she’s also trying so hard and thinking of the other person too. These outings with David aren’t good and he’s going to crash and burn and does... now comes the guilt.

GAHHHH love these two and how hard they try to be real with each other.

She’s really fallen for Rick. They have a moment. Jenna has been such a huge part of his life it’s hard to let go of her to flail about on her own. Sophie and Xavier are more in a relationship in her head than real life. Though he goes along with her plans for the weekend.

Xavier isn’t what he appears it seems. We’ve evolved into a fake dating thing with Boy Wonder! Why do they object to Jenna so much I’d really like to know.

Funny her trying to break all her parents rules.

Hmm. Not a fan of the open ended ending. This is the type of book you want done in one go otherwise it makes the entire odd experience unsatisfying. This wasn’t a cliffhanger so much as a cop out.

I like the idea of the story... but since I had zero interaction with Rowan his fate didn’t effect me at all. Lori and her craziness didn’t either. She didn’t even seem to be good friends with the others. The background seems a little basic though I do think how Hingis were revealed was decently natural. The narrative is just off.

Okay! Well the voice warning out of nowhere was neat. There’s something about her narrative that I just don’t like. It’s a bit boring. Even when exciting things are happening. Tommy is okay. Luke seems like a stalker. I’m not into the love triangle.

It sure was boring getting to this point. I felt like the mo e I read the more pointless the group dynamics was. And show us instead of tell us. We finally have facetime with Lori here at 26%! Way too late. And the research feels shoehorned in and unnatural. But at least something is happening!

A lot of telling about her friends and the trip. They seem alright though.

I like Sophie and think her cousin Boy Wonder as Ever calls him is intriguing. The muscles help. 🤣

Classic Asian tiger mom. Dad gave up his medical degree so they could live in America. Pretty sad but we don’t recognize medical professionals from outside the US unless they got a US degree. They send her to a Taipei after throwing a fit upon learning she applied and got accepted to a dance school.
