5 - the guild master lets her join even though she won’t tell him who her teacher is. Nell the secretary buys her materials and they make a ton because they were broken down so well! Good thing he put points in that skill! Now Fran has been accused of stealing!?

4 - because of the merchant they were able to enter town. He told them about the adventurers guild do they apply! And much the the secretary’s doubt they pass!!

3 - the sword teaches Fran how to fight. He has cooking maxed out do makes her food. They’re going up break down the monsters he killed to get her armor. They meet a merchant on the road who explains monster and adventurer ranks. They head into the city with him.

Boring volume with some interesting questions posed but out of order to me. I like this Capt Levi dude! He’s cool.

18 - They’re cleaning up the district now that the hole is plugged so disease doesn’t become a problem. The titans don’t have digestive tracts so spit up the bodies after a while! Eren wakes up in a prison cell. Capt Levi is there and wants to know his intentions. He likes it when he says to kill titans so accepts him into the survey corp.

17 - more training but it’s boring. This could have been stirring before all the battles where half these kids are dead. One girl can fight cause her dad taught her. Another boy contends with Eren because he wants the easy life.

16 - Eren failed the balancing test while everyone else passed. Come to find out it’s broken equipment! But he managed to balance even with the broken equipment for some seconds which impressed the trainer. Showed his extreme persistence.

15 - we go back in time to when they first joined the training corps. Not sure why... right at a pivotal point too. This is kinda boring because we know many of them are dead. I did like that Eren is upside down when doing the vertical training haha.

14 - he gets him up and the A teams hold off the titans in the area so he can get the rock in place. They succeeded for the first time against the titans! So many died but it marked a turn in the tides.

13 - Eren’s second transformation isn’t as successful. He loses himself and his head gets knocked off. Mikasa convinces the A troops to protect him from incoming titans but has no idea how to help Eren. Armin seeing the flair saying failure runs to where Eren is... he tries to cut into the weak spot where Eren came out before!!

12 - commander Pixis believes the kids and decides to do the operation right now. If they don’t succeed more population will have to die do they have enough food to feed those left. Some don’t believe there is a secret weapon, but he gives a stirring speech to motivate the soldiers to keep such fear from their families!

11 - I love how Eren puts his trust in Armin to talk the army into listening to them! The guy in charge was bat shit scared but an intelligent higher up came forward.

Side story + 10 - the side story was about the survey Corp when Eren and co was young. Back in the present the humans think Eren is a titan and want to blow him away. They force his memory from his dad to come back... it’s the basement. And to protect his friends he becomes a titan!

9 - yup!! Daddy what a way to protect your son!! That was so cool!! From Armin’s plan to get the gas they need... to Eren’s return! Poor Mikasa couldn’t help but wail when she saw him come out of the dead abnormal!!

8 - Armin pulls up Mikasa but it’s the abnormal titan that saved her. They use him to get to the supply depot. The others use their comrades getting caught to make it there too. Armin wants to use the titan to get out of there...

7 - Mikasa finds Armin who gives her the bad news. They’re also out of gas that lets them maneuver up the walls so they can’t escape without replenishing. She heads there and her actions rally the others... but she runs out of gas. Then a titan that looks disturbingly like Eren hits another titan!?

6 - Mikasa’s parents are killed because she’s the last Asian descendant and men wanted to sell her on the black market. Eren follows to where they take her and kill 2 of them but a third comes in and she has to kill him. She realizes it’s fight or die. They take her home to live with them!!

5 - Mikasa is a girl I like! I’d have just killed the guy myself... she just threatened him which will probably get her into deep trouble but she did single handedly stop a titan and kill it. She remembers her past... her mom brands her with 844. Then Eren’s dad finds her parents dead?!

Eren loses his leg in the titan attack. But he decides to save Armin who is in a titan’s mouth. He saves him but doesn’t make it out himself! What a way to end vol 1! I thought Eren was the MC!!?

3-4 - the colossus attacks while the just graduated trainees are on the wall. Eren attacks it but when he goes for the sweet spot it disappears. We learn taking its head doesn’t kill them they regenerate! You have to hit the back of the neck. They are sexless, only eat humans but don’t need to in order to live.

The freaky amusement park was horrorish. I figured Dr Bright deliberately had him go in that photo to test if he’d learn things no one knew about that SPC site. That poor woman... and her brother left behind!

2 - the Sword explains it was reincarnated and how it got stuck in the ground for a Fran to find. Up to the forest he’d flown around and leveled himself up with crystals found in monsters.

1 - awww I’m liking this already. It has a game feel to it. I like Fran and Teacher. He can float when he has enough mana and killed her slave owner!

The final bad guy was a little overwrought but I did like the author’s intention to explore how a 40 year old man getting transported to another world would feel like. That came through!

I like this kid. He’s a bit of a non entity but that’s part of his charm. He’s so average. I like how closely we’re examining this new paranormal world through his perspective. Iris is a good girl. Dr Bright is creepy! They’re figuring out how he’s connected to Iris and her camera.

2 - aww his mom... to get eaten right in front of him. They escape to an inner wall now that the outer Maria wall was breached by the colossus titan. Our leads Eren and Mikasa are #5 and #1 respectively of their graduating class. Their 3 choices are told to us. Since they’re top 10 they can choose any of the 3.

Haha pretty good. We do devolve into info dump mode at times as someone explains some bit of history about something. And some conversations are just summarized. His not wanting to be noticed is also funny considering he’s a max level wizard.

Pretty fun transmigration story.

Epilogue - we see Tane all grown up and in HS hahaha

7 - awww that was an abrupt ending but terribly cute too. I liked that Yutaka talked to Tane and Minoru’s dad about losing his wife. I love how Tane takes advantage of Yutaka too. It’s adorable.
