This is very boy centric right now. I did like how the voice pressured her then convinced her.

The third half is very surreal, a lot more than Rang and b’s parts. Poor Book! Bullying is so awful and effects people for the rest of their lives.

Poor b. She’s pretty messed up, angry at how her life has changed since her sister got sick. She hangs out with an abusive boy from school and his gang for a while. Later they potentially rape her. I think she finds her sister dead one day.

Our narrator writes a frank poem about b. The girl takes offense and won’t be friends anymore. It leaves her very lonely and quite perplexed. What’s wrong with the poem? She’s best up everyday by a group of boys. I don’t understand why. She finds the end where a fish enters her and makes her able to go on until she finds Book!

They’re testing him now trying to see if they can make an entire team of manual cry pilots.

There’s a rhythmic nature to the prose. It’s telling in a stream of conscious sort of way but without the random nature of that method.

Not a fan. It’s worse than the first book. Grey read like a woman to me, not the mysterious smoldering manly man of the first book. I like Lia Mara and knew that end with her mother was coming from the moment it was mentioned how one becomes Queen. I really love the Iilak. I hope we see a resolution to his quest.

Grey is now the cool prince. Rhen is and always has been an evil dude according to the world. This feels like another Court of Thorns and Roses.

Wow... what an end! And boy could you tell he did want to write another Genie Lo book hahaha. Still I’m glad he tied up loose ends.

Oooh the emperor’s betrayal was cool. And G’s sacrifice!

Woah. First a dragon warrior god is crying all over Genie and calling the survivors of his legions from a lap pool. Then a venture capitalist is propositioning Genie. Oh and don’t forget she put up the goddess for the emperor challenge!

I’m not going to lie... this doesn’t really save the book to me but it does make it readable. I probably will be able to finish it now.

I decided to keep reading until 50% and good thing too because Iisak the scraper appeared. He’s super neat and we get info dumped on about Grey being a magesmith. It’s pretty neat. And we get an explanation about Rhen from Noah.
Noah doesn’t smile. “Or because he has PTSD.” Before I can ask, he says, “Post-traumatic stress disorder. It happens when you’ve been exposed to something terrifying.”

Honestly at 45% I was prepared to DNF this contrived crap. (Contrived because it’s totally stupid Grey didn’t return to say goodbye. He knew there would be trouble due to his parentage. Also the girl figuring everything out so easily even about Disi makes my eyes roll. Rhein is so gifted but he didn’t figure it out and had a lot more time to think on it?! Contrived!)

Aww everyone got a dragon... even the bully Liam! From what the drawing at the end showed. I love his sister so much. She’s adorable.

Awww Flicker is so cute! Now he’s told his friends and they want one too! But Liam the bulky is lying in wait to catch h8m and see what he’s been hiding, love his little sister!

Gaaaaaahhhhh this is so contrived! I don’t understand why Grey didn’t just stay and the three put their heads together over how to spin this. And Lia Mara is a dolt! Hello your guard attacks then of course the prince’s guards are going to attack back and kill your guard. Duh! How stupid you are! Why did she attack and endanger her own princess?! And I just don’t believe the prince would kill his brother!

Sure, they’re fiery, fantastical, and dazzling, but dragons are not all fun and games. Not by a long shot. And it’s not just the fire and the flammable poo I’m talking about. Oh no! Gahhhhh Emil is such a whiner. And the pacing and narrative of this is awful. I can’t believe it’s a best seller.

Dr Bright concludes that he’s from a parallel photo world. That he can return to his world and then theirs as much as he wants. Iris just needs to pull him through. So the mystery of who and what he is has concluded. It’s a fun view of the SPC foundation though it felt like setup.

“Josie the Half-Cat?” Dr. Selkie put it on the same level as Builder Bear and the Eye Pods, so I assumed it was an SCP object.
