So.... slow.

I'm not gonna lie, I've stalled on this somewhat. It has nothing to do with the book though, just that I got so drunk on Sunday I'm still struggling to focus. Fingers crossed I'll be back to it today though... or maybe tomorrow.

Been looking forward to this one for a while now. :D

Really slow start on this one. About 10 hours of politics and watching characters flirt on the page. I'm hoping it will pick up soon.

Should finish this one today. It's not been a bad ride at all.

I've heard many people say this one is like an RPG game in book format, but the more I read the more I have to disagree. It's much more like an anime.

This is turning out to be a little more YA than I expected.

My 3rd SPFBO finalist read. I've heard some amazing things about this one. Being a bit of a RPG gamer, I reckon I'm gonna love it.

I've kinda raced through this one due to picking up running and listening to audible while I do it. Luckily, I have Oathbringer already downloaded and ready to go. :D

I'm roughly half way through. So far I've really enjoyed the stories by Ed McDonald (yeah, no surprise there!), Laura M Hughes, Tamandra Whitecastle, and Sebastien de Castell.

This antho is coming with me on holiday and I can't wait to check out the other authors' stories.

While I am loving the epic scope of Stormlight Archives, I do kinda wish this one would pick up the pace a little. The middle of the book has quite a bit of faffing about.

I'm a bit torn so far. Part of me really quite likes this one, and part of me is just so damned frustrated with every decision Lily makes.

SPFBO finalist number 2 under way. This one is a bit shorter so I should get through it quite quickly. Very interesting concept with birth year animals determining personality types, and magic being the domain of kami and forbidden songs. I'm getting an early Ghibli feel from it.

Things are picking up. It's kinda like 2 separate books. One is a cool exorcist tale with different demonic creatures and reminds me of the Witcher with each beasty being unique and needing different tactics to banish. The other is classic fantasy with knights doing knightly things.

You can't kill....

Definitely a slow burner, but things are picking up.

I'm planning to read all 9 other SPFBO finalists and I'm starting with this one. So far there's been a creepy exorcism, followed by a lot of back story. I've definitely thinking this one fits into the "epic" sub genre of fantasy.

So damned close... but still 5 hours to go. This book is SO long... but I'm loving it. Book 2 is already loaded up on my audible and waiting to go.

I do love reading Mark Lawrence's books!

From alpha reading to beta. I'm just glad the sexy hair washing scene stayed in.

You know what... I'm just really enjoying this one. It's not perfect, it certainly has a few flaws, but it's endearing and fun. It's also really long!

Sanderson has such a workman-like way of delivering the story. There's no flourish to the prose, just delivery, very competent delivery. Despite this, there is something oddly charming about this world he has created that is compelling me to come back to it. That being said, Kaladin is dull as dishwater and the narrator compounds the issue. I am liking Shallan and her narrator though.

So I'm not that far in yet, only 100 pages, but it's really not grabbing me. I'm finding the characters quite uninteresting (actually there's a few secondary characters who are a bit better), and the infodumps stand out so much it hurts.

Pretty standard old school stuff so far. Done well, but nothing gripping yet.

I've been debating over what to read next for a few days. I've plenty of self pubbed books to read and a few big names to go at as well, but Malice has been sat shrink wrapped on my shelf for about 8 months now. I'm going in!

This is my new audio read. One chapter in and I'm pretty sure I've forgotten half the expositional info dump already.

Slow going on this one so far. It's Ed McDonald's fault for writing Blackwing. I have a distinct feeling all of the main characters are going to die... again.

Bit slow so far, lots of repetition, but all the pieces look to be in place for one hell of a reunion!
