The last couple of chapters were brilliant - it's definitely making the experience a lot better. It captures the tragedy really well. I think I'm in for such a beautiful ending.

The first and third act (so far) are perfect, it's just the latter half of the second act that kind of bothers me. But whatever, almost done with this book and glad it's ending on a high note.

Currently holding the record for the most I've read a book in a single sitting.

The information in this book is startling - most professions that I thought would be in the clear from automation weren't, and it's happening at a much faster rate than I ever thought.

There is a hell of a lot of data that Yang includes - it seems like every other minute Yang says in the audiobook "in the accompanying PDF"

But the more data the better; it paints a pretty depressing picture of America in the midst of the Great Displacement.

Also listening to audiobooks on 2x speed while reading is surprisingly efficient. Have to try this more often.

Yes I know I'm very indecisive on what to read - but I just had to read this book on account of really understanding my personal favorite candidate's platform.

Not even remotely into economics but Andrew Yang excites me enough to pick up this book. Let's hope this book is as great as the campaign he's leading so far.

Definitely not enjoying the book as much as I was - still good but I just find it really hard to sympathize with the protagonist now (which is probably a me thing). I understand where people are coming from when they find him easy to empathize with, it's just not the kind of character I would particularly enjoy reading about. Takes it a bit too far in a certain direction where I lose sympathy.

Appreciate > enjoy

Okay to be really honest I am not in the mood to read these anymore. Will probably be putting this on a DNF shelf on account of my disinterest.

Maybe I'll read the highlight reel of this - but there are so many "meh" sonnets that I can't really muster up enough interest to read them all.

After much thought I decided that...I'm not going to bother finishing the book. I watched a video that summarized it and by the end of it I was angry that I wasted my time watching that.

Welp it turns out the rest of the book IS written this way - and it still sucks. It removes any tension and limits the prose of the book because he is just telling the story through dialogue.

I thought the setting was lazy since it had nothing to do with earth - but turns out it's lazy in a different way on account of how blatant it represents it. Good intentions or not, it's not that interesting to read.

The books I plan on reading by 2022 (not including books I'm currently reading) outside of the Book Club. I may read more, but these are the books that I really want to read first.

1. Crime and Punishment
2. Beloved
3. Macbeth
4. Slaughterhouse Five
5. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
6. Harry Potter II
7. Master and Margarita
8. Kafka on the Shore
9. Educated
10. Wuthering Heights

Oh boy. I really hope the rest of the book is not dialogue without any interruptions (it's been like this for 3 chapters so far).

It also feels like a bit of a wasted concept - he travels to the future but it may as well be an entirely different world. The "humans" are basically aliens and there is no remnants of former civilization.

This sure is going to be a fun read!

Short light reading to keep me occupied (will finish Lolita and Sonnets before the year ends), just wanted something to read before I went to sleep that was fun rather than informative. I also really want to get into speculative science fiction

So far - nothing happened but it's still kind of cool.

Kindle Paperwhite ™ screen is glorious.

The book is actually picking up some steam. As society continues to grow, so does my interest in this book.

Just finished the first chapter (probably will be a book that I will just read at a VERY slow pace).

This book is dense with information that is told in layman's terms and asides in philosophy. Not as interesting as I'd hoped, but I feel like I'm getting something out of it at the end of this chapter that it makes it worth it. Very dense for a non-sociology or history academic.

This is joining the camp of "Classics I enjoyed but didn't love". The second half of the book isn't gripping me as much as the first (which apparently is a common trend for me). The prose is still great, but it's not enough to carry the whole narrative for me. Humbert stopped being likable and Lo isn't fleshed out, it's losing a bit of its luster because of that.

Yeah I know I have Lolita to read and Shakespeare's sonnets to read on top of this but I wanted to read something that would make me feel like I was doing something more productive: enter this book (also on the Kindle).

The book's a straight shooter. It tells you what you need to know without being overwhelming jargon and still manages to be interesting even though I had no interest in the topic beforehand.

Got to read these past few chapters on an Amazon Kindle Paperwhite and it was well worth the investment - the quality is just as good as a physical book that just happens to be backlit.

Now the seams of the unethical aspects of the relationship are starting to REALLY starting to show now more than ever. Humbert is becoming increasingly more unlikable.

Didn't read any of the other Rebirth titles so all these new characters they are adding just screams continuity lockout.

This feels like watching Endgame and watching only watching Iron Man 1-3. Low-key have absolutely no idea what is happening or who these people are. What a disappointing way to end the series - only through my own fault.

Part one finished, stats final tomorrow - will plow through the rest of the book after.

And what a way to end part one - it's such a shift in tone that I don't know where the book will go from here.

Art is ugly to look at since it's so overly colored and shaded. The character designs are horribly sexist and objectifying.

And the story is just meh - overly complicated without much focus. Tries to be overly gruesome to stand out and it just comes across as gratuitous.

Logged the wrong volume two. Whatever, solid if not slightly disappointing follow-up to the first. Didn't have the same amount of heart and had a little bit too much cheese, but it was good to see the characters develop a little further.

Forgot how much studying I need for this Stats final so right now, trying go supplement my down time with light reading once again with this surprisingly good comic series.

Definitely is just a prologue but it's shaping up to be just as good as the first even with the family angle.

It's good to be reading comics once again.

After ruthless studying and doing meh on my penultimate final, I don't have class until Friday - which gives me time to read. It's hit a bit of a lull with wheel turning, but it's still interesting - probably due to the long weekend I had with studying affecting my enjoyment.

One of my last finals is tomorrow, then the last final is on Friday - which gives me a HUGE gap to start reading this book...perhaps even finish it?

That being said, this book manages to be funny somehow in spite of its subject matter. Somehow, I still find myself gravitating towards the protagonist even though he is an awful, awful misogynistic human being. Such an interesting character study too.

Reading at a snail's pace but wow am I really impressed with the book - it really does the unreliable narrator real well to manipulate you into liking him. You don't approve of the relationship but you are kind of on his side (for now). I'm trying my hardest to hate him but I can't - despite embodying everything I hate in a person.

Will focus on this once I'm finished with my finals (next week on Friday). So far 5/5

I'm starting to think I'm not that much of a poetry guy, but there must be something out there that I will enjoy. Will push through these sonnets nonetheless, even if I'm taking such a long time to do them.

Same old routine - some good, some bad, some forgettable.

Trying to cram as much reading as I can in-between classes.

This book gets away with so much disturbing, creepy stuff that I'm surprised that this even got published. Chapter 13 was as erotic and dirty as it could get (so far).
