Trying to cram as much reading as I can in-between classes.
This book gets away with so much disturbing, creepy stuff that I'm surprised that this even got published. Chapter 13 was as erotic and dirty as it could get (so far).

I want the main character to die in a horrible accident.

Re-reading this really exposes how much sh-t the narrator is full of, there is no way this could be interpreted as a book endorsing his actions by any interpretation, even willfully trying to have the worst interpretation.

Reading it again and somehow it is more gag-worthy than I remembered. Physically recoiling at the line with the "stomachache" in the park. I like to describe this book as a book that is told from the villain's POV who wants to justify their own actions - the prose is an augmentation of that.

THIS TOOK ME A MONTH TO READ? I got sidetracked and distracted by other books - it's not indicative of its quality, college and business got in the way.
Anyways, this book is a flawed masterpiece. Deserves all the praise it got but I had minor quibbles with the book that prevent it from being an all time favorite. Would read again if I had the chance to.

The last couple of chapters were brilliant - it's definitely making the experience a lot better. It captures the tragedy really well. I think I'm in for such a beautiful ending.
The first and third act (so far) are perfect, it's just the latter half of the second act that kind of bothers me. But whatever, almost done with this book and glad it's ending on a high note.

Definitely not enjoying the book as much as I was - still good but I just find it really hard to sympathize with the protagonist now (which is probably a me thing). I understand where people are coming from when they find him easy to empathize with, it's just not the kind of character I would particularly enjoy reading about. Takes it a bit too far in a certain direction where I lose sympathy.

This is joining the camp of "Classics I enjoyed but didn't love". The second half of the book isn't gripping me as much as the first (which apparently is a common trend for me). The prose is still great, but it's not enough to carry the whole narrative for me. Humbert stopped being likable and Lo isn't fleshed out, it's losing a bit of its luster because of that.

Got to read these past few chapters on an Amazon Kindle Paperwhite and it was well worth the investment - the quality is just as good as a physical book that just happens to be backlit.
Now the seams of the unethical aspects of the relationship are starting to REALLY starting to show now more than ever. Humbert is becoming increasingly more unlikable.

Part one finished, stats final tomorrow - will plow through the rest of the book after.
And what a way to end part one - it's such a shift in tone that I don't know where the book will go from here.

After ruthless studying and doing meh on my penultimate final, I don't have class until Friday - which gives me time to read. It's hit a bit of a lull with wheel turning, but it's still interesting - probably due to the long weekend I had with studying affecting my enjoyment.
