Been a while since I read Maas as I got more than a little tired of her previous works mary sues (do not @ me-she's a Mary Sue machine) tropes, cliches, paranormal romance staples (where before there was none) and love interest switches mid series. We'll see if she falls into the same traps.

Finally seemed to break my first chapter slump with this book and I *am* enjoying it. However I am a bit tired of everyone give goggle eyes stunned wonder at litterally *everything* Paul does, after the events concerning Dr. Yueh. I've heard Herbert turns this around in later books. So we'll see.

Pretty damn good so far. Bardugo's got herself one hell of an interesting cast of characters.

Stepping outside my reading comfort zone by picking up an author I've never read. Roark is every bit a Randian hero, basically an arrogant dick who thinks he's beyond criticism. There's definitely somethig to be said about striking out on your own and not following tradition for traditions sake, but we'll see as we go.
