Karishma is on page 206 of 344 of Man and Boy (Harry Silver, #1)
The protagonist is absolute hypocritical trash, but the book is eminently readable.

Very unlikeable protagonist. Determined to justify his mistakes, and make everyone else the fall guy for his failures. Pathetic.

Sort of reminiscent of God of Small Things, for me. I don't really know why.

Reminiscent of Georgette Heyer, without the sparkling humour.

Well. The big mystery has already been revealed. I guess the rest of the book is just drama?

I already know the mysterious incident, because I read it in a review somewhere. Since I don't really believe in hand-wringing over a "spoiler" *rolls eyes*, I am reading the book anyway. It adds a certain depth to the prose which I would have missed if I didn't know what the incident was.

This book is really lightweight, easy reading: mildly magical like ASOIAF; a little romantic like Mills and Boon; and adventurous with heaping doses of coming-of-age like any other YA fantasy.

Nothing spectacular, but not entirely a write-off either.

Surprised to get through this quite fast, as other reviewers said the first 70 pages are boring. They are most decidedly not.

As interesting as this book is, I invariably fall asleep because the information is heavy. Yawn.

Love the subject - absolutely fascinating. Not too keen on the writing style, and the divisions in the book. I think that the subject matter would have been better served in shorter chapters, and the current chapters could have been parts instead. Also, there is perhaps [in my opinion] too much personal stuff about the author - more than is warranted at least.
