Utterly fascinating, but I really wish she has elaborated on some of the customs. And there is a total absence of flow, as each time a chapter progresses to the next, a few years are skipped.

Recently discovered Open Library.

Two years after I bought this book, I'm finally reading it. The size was intimidating, but I've realised it is actually shorter than some of my novels. Go figure!

Had to stop at this tantalising juncture because of work. Ye gods.

I bought this book in October, and it has been through sheer willpower that I've withheld reading it till now.

It will be a real miracle if I finish this one. Not that the message is bad; the writing is excruciating.

Repetitive, because some of it is just transcribed dialogue, poorly edited, and shoehorned humour. Not a propitious start.

3 books behind on my reading challenge, so racing through this one. Doubt I'll catch up though. Anyway, this sort of writing speaks right to my ardent worship of language, so would have raced through it under normal circs too.

An amazingly fun read, but keep falling asleep because too tired to read much.

I may end up finishing this today, but I had to stop and record that, after a promising start and premise, this took a swift nosedive into stereotypes. It is also somewhat pacy, but utterly unremarkable in terms of plot. The ending appears to be abundantly obvious; it remains to be seen if rolling my eyes was premature or not.
