Listening to the MMORPG stuff...while playing an MMORPG... this is killing me. I want my entire guild to read this!

Hilarious and endearing. There's about 10,000 disclaimers at the front of this book - if you know who Felicia is and adore her, this is the book you've waited for. If you don't know who she is, sort that out...this book will be waiting for you. :) The bad acting teacher story... lol oh god.

Simultaneously horrifying and hilarious. I'm now terrified of perimenopause - if I'm already a little unhinged and bitchy, I'm going to be completely off the rails when the hormonal wackiness gets into full swing!

So far this has been really good. I realized that everything I was about to write about it is already in the book description.

I like it. I'm not much of a "thriller" person and "monster" books don't really move me, but I'm loving Pendergast, the setting, and the overall story telling. Much better than I expected.

If you skim the "Encyclopedia of the Whale" segments and don't get too bogged down, the rest of this is a fantastic mix of tragedy and... comedy. I did not expect humor. I did not expect fantastic characters. I did not expect to be able to torment my husband by reading him a chapter on whale sperm. I'm surprised that I'm loving this. Except those encyclopedia parts... mostly.

If you've seen Kate Mulgrew talk, it is easy to read it and hear her voice narrating...and it is written in a similar style to how she speaks. You can imagine her telling the story in her sort of roundabout-yet-energetic way. I don't know if it was the pain killers I was on last night, though, but it does feel a bit disjointed in some ways. I'll have to see what I think in the light of day.

I finally got back to this during a camping weekend where I could sit down and just read what I felt like reading. Now that I'm following particular characters, I'm into it. This is a gorgeously visual book full of imagery - unique creatures, world building...love the characters.

Give the audiobook narrator a little time to warm up - I wasn't quite loving his voice at first, but wow, love it now. His accents and characters are great.
This book is a roller coaster!! Absolutely love it so far! Highly recommended if you like science, survival, and "out of the frying pan into the fire...and more fire...and more..." stories!

Ok, I always run into a wall when I read her animosity towards John Grey... You know the person to be kind and honorable, yet you hate him because he loves your husband? Ok, yeah, I can see it being a bit prickly and certainly uncomfortably akward for all, but the feeling is not mutual (at least, in that way), so what does it really matter? Relax the reins, woman, the horse isn't going to bolt.

Still love it. She has so much sense to dish out, it's crazy it all fit in the book. I've had a couple prickly moments, but they passed quick enough.

IMO, it's better to have a few great sex scenes than a bunch of mediocre ones. Concocted drama, main character is evolving into a jerk... the book needed an editor bad and they let her down. Sad.

I'm liking it, though the love scenes crack me up. There's a lot of "tangled heaps" in Lee Child land. The jury is also out on this vagrant-turned-guy-who-bosses-cops-around. The rest is reading like a good action movie.

Comes across as a great cabin read. Now I just need a cabin (and a beer) to sit my butt down and finish it. I've been enjoying it when I do pick it up, though.

So far going much better than the ghost story by the same author. I like the premise, and Thora's character. The mystery is intriguing, the setting great. It has a sense of "about to get grittier" as "Adolf" is introduced, but so far he's been a weird blip on the radar. His "morning after" horror about waking up next to a 1 night stand was darkly funny.

Enjoyable historical fiction read. Chadwick's William Marshal could be a great fix for fans of the mature/reserved side of Jamie Frasier. We'll see how that plays out, but so far he's a big, strong, good natured guy with a strong sense of honor and a good head on his shoulders. No "anti" to his hero whatsoever. Overall enjoyable read, so far.

Witty & dark w/an appropriately old fashioned wordiness you'd expect in steampunk (which, this is). Cabal is now missing a chunk - if not the whole needle - from his moral compass. His snarky misanthropic personality make him a likable anti-hero. There's definitely a Sherlock feel to this one. Maybe also a smattering of Pratchett & a splash of Neal Stephenson.

There should not be a romance in this story. The rest of it is interesting, if a bit flat up to about 48% and confusing between all the names and places. Around 50% it starts coming together.

As all Christopher Moore books, this one is totally inappropriate and SO darn funny. Love the narration. It's getting a real, live LOL out of me on my way to and from work. Excellent commute book.
Overdrive download has been a little glitchy - it repeated one scene a couple times (super disorienting!)...but since it was a hilarious scene with the shades, I didn't mind.

Starting to drag for me. I liked the first part of the book much better.
Because the MC has been trained to work on cars by his neighbor, particular care should be taken around scenes describing car issues. There's a Honda Civic with a "leak in the rear differential" that's making noise like a "cessna." Not sure why the author wouldn't doublecheck that detail, instead of just throwing it in there!

Not your average zombie story.
Took a chapter or so to warm up, but I can see where the parallel to The Girl With All the Gifts is, but it also feels very much like something else I can't quite put my finger on. "On the tip of my tongue" sort of thing.
