Theodore Finch and Violet. What an unlikely story, with a train wreck start.

It’s a good one. The faithful Catholic girl serves others in London, while doing the social scene and making positive marks for her father, the Ambassador. The poor opinion history has of Joe, Sr., is an interesting contrast to the book.

Ugh. Started strong but I’m already tired of the science experiments. What’s the answer???

Yet another perspective on the Nazis and WWII, this time from The Netherlands. Details and choices of ordinary people in their own struggles against oppression and violence make me wonder what I would do in a similar situation. The Dutch names are a bit hard to follow, and perhaps too many names are introduced, but the overall effect is to demonstrate the accuracy and documentation of these events.

Rebecca wonders how she became a different sort of person when she met and married Joe. It seems she takes on qualities needed or expected by others? I am curious how this resolves.

Wonderful essays. Bookmarked memorable passages to hear again. Joining the Patchett groupies and planning a trip to Parnassus!

I underestimated this book. The more I experience the adventures of Blink - along with his own underestimation of his abilities - the more I predict he will be the next king of the realm he loves! What patriotism!

The essay about the RV was full of truth and also humor! The story of Ann’s dog Rose… she does NOT want a baby!!!

I love Patchett, and her essays make me think and also make me laugh. She does not suffer fools!

This is good! I love a book that begins w/ a cast of characters, so I can flip back to it. I have not previously picked up on Poirot’s arrogance and prim little mannerisms - this book makes them clear! Who did it??? And a movie out next month!
