This book had funny parts at the beginning but it’s really depressing. So many people hitting their heads against the wall. They’re both going to pay for this.

I started this book several times and haven’t been able to continue. This time I’m finding her antics hilarious!!

This is one of those books where the author eats her cake and has it too: The main characters aim to discredit talking to spirits while at the same time being part of something supernatural.

I’m loving how logically they’re approaching the whole ghost thing.

The heroine is so whiny! And it’s clear the author has no idea how the bar industry works in NYC. Everything that happened is very normal - nobody would get fired for any of it. And if you get fired, so what? There are like a millions bars in Manhattan. It shouldn’t be difficult for her to get a new job (pre-COVID, of course.)

I just saw The Sound of Music and I immediately wanted to read a governess romance.

This is a bit creepy. For boss/underlings romances to work, the underling has to be all in. Hannah wants him but she’s so reluctant - because he’s the boss bla bla - that it’s not sexy.

In general, white collar jobs in America (this includes marketing) earn salaries. They need to get the job done, no matter how long it takes. So in a case like this, nobody would ask for overtime because they wouldn’t be eligible. If they were hourly workers, the boss would be required (by law) to pay overtime so he couldn’t threaten to fire them.

The description made me laugh out loud so I started it right away.
