This woman!!

Still not liking this heroine and how even though she’s a ballbuster in the courtroom, in her personal life, she’s always the victim: bullied in high school, betrayed by her college boyfriend, pressured into an engagement. I get the bullying was really difficult but I would expect her to fight back as an adult.

Re-starting this one from the beginning. Hopefully I don't dislike the heroine as much as the last time!

This guy keeps telling the heroine "I'm mean and I'll hurt you at some point" which is just a preemptive excuse to be mean in the future. He'll be like "I told you so!" but that doesn't let him off the hook. He's an adult and if he knows he has a weakness he should strive to change instead of justifying himself.

Really liking this heroine. He’s a bit of a douche but he’s already learning.

This is the most judgmental archeologist I’ve ever seen. Instead of observing, she just keeps telling them how they are savages. But I guess with the suppression of free speech, they also lost the scientific rigor.

I love historical romances about people with actual JOBS! Not a duke in sight which I'm really grateful (the duke is the series set up.) So far the heroine has been too stubborn to warm up to him but you can understand why. Max is scrumptious and I'm loving him.
