I can't decide if this is delightfully idyllic or drainingly repetitive. Maybe it's both. Sort of like a conversation with me.

Not exactly feeling the Penumbra vibe (beyond the fact that, you know, characters own bookstores), but enjoying this nonetheless thus far. Even despite math being, well, math.

Johnny does a pretty good job of just rolling with it when his girlfriend bursts into flames and suddenly has what's essentially his power set. If you couldn't see the inferno her body had become, you'd think she'd just said, "So, I'm not doing carbs anymore," and he was like, "Cool. Let's get sushi. Also, you're on fire, and let me show you how to fly without dying."

Wait...I've always been under the impression that the word is "janky" (as in poor quality, unreliable, doesn't work well, etc.), not "jenky" as Ross Gay posits.

I've never been much of a gardner, but this book is making me want to grow stuff. Other than that which is flourishing betwixt my toes, I mean.

A buddy read (delight) with the incomparable Allie (delight) involving a beautifully written (delight) book about delights (delight). The only non-delight is Allie's lack of affinity for Mr. Nicolas Cage, but we're working on that.

When I grow up, I want to be Warren Ellis. Only maybe drunker.

Jeez...Alfred cries more in this book than I do when watching Bio-Dome. (Yes, I find Pauly Shore to be a touching and affecting performer; so what?)

Well, jeez--that was intense. Like gargling with pop rocks. Or trying to blow a nose the size of yours truly.

Thus far, the best parts of this have been the issues guest starring Spider-Man. But, that's pretty much true of everything--Spidey makes everything better. Except maybe time in the boudoir, because that could get awkward. Unless you're into that. I'm not judging.

But seriously, though...is there any higher or better use of sleight of hand skills than baffling strangers at a bar? Because I don't think there is.

It's impossible to read this and not want to be playing with a deck of cards.

I'm an absolute sucker for anything that's inside the world of magic. Then again, I'm also a sucker for anything that's inside the world of Saved by the Bell, so I'm easy.

I feel like I would make a terrible megalomaniac. I'd much rather, like, just read a book and eat a cookie than destroy the world, you know?

Well, it's official--the universe is f@ed. Not only have 100 people taken the time to read and review Water for Alien Were-Dinos, they have declared it to be a better and higher-rated work of literature than War and Peace, Jane Eyre, and Ulysses.

Someone needs to get on making more Sherlock Holmes graphic novels (not necessarily adaptations; originally Sherlockian stories with kick-ass moody Victorian art, and bonus points for Baskervile-esque supernatural trappings). I require this for my reading pleasure, as I have read all of the existing ones. Please and thank you.
