Always love an author who can hold my attention more than 100 pages into a book when literally nothing has happened other than people talking. Well, someone might have gone to the bathroom. And ate something. But that’s about it.

I really miss the soapiness of the X-Men. I mean that in the dramatic sense, not the Dove sensitive for men sense.

Beyond being a brilliant thinker, I always appreciate how good of a stylist Le Guin was.

As of today, my silly books have been added to people's TBRs 2,000 times. That's insanely amazing given that, thus far, it's just me spinning nonsense into the world. I can hardly wait for the next chapter when Parliament House Books makes an honest author out of me with the release of The Part About the Dragon Was (Mostly) True next year.

Hey, who doesn't love comic fantasy?

Granted, they're soapy, but Claremont-penned comics always feel so...I don't know, grown up? Not sure if that's the right way to characterize them. Adult, maybe. Like, he clearly never thought he was writing for ten-year-olds.

...which is why all of this is way over my head.

This is deeply academic in tone, which makes for an odd juxtaposition with the subject matter. Sort of like my capstone thesis in college ("Misogyny, Mischief, and Matriculation: Masculine Mores and Moral Development in Saved by the Bell").

I really hope the Boogeyman, Casper the Friendly Ghost, and Dr. Egon Spengler factor in here somewhere.

It’s kind of like if Anno Dracula and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen has a less violent, less weird baby. In New Zealand.

This book is just delightful, and ideal for Victorian nerds.

Reading this with absolutely zero percent chance of playing anytime soon is a little bit like having someone punch you in the face with a pizza when you haven't eaten in a week.

Okay, granting that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was a terrible human being and waterboarding is 100% torture and that there's really nothing ha-ha funny about anything related to 9/11, it IS kind of funny to think about KSM being immune to waterboarding and taunting his torturers by falling asleep during it or counting down with his fingers to the point when he knows they're going to stop pouring because he figured it out

Clay Mann’s art is just stunning. It’s absolutely gorgeous.

It almost makes up for his parents being jerks and naming him “Clay” with a last name like “Mann.”
