On the one hand, I think I like this. On the other, I'm not sure I have any idea what's going on.

It's high school physics all over again.

I'm pretty sure ol' Stan slipped just a little bit of crack into his Spidey stories. They're so damn addictive.

The world is on fire, but at least this book is an absolute delight.

It's entertaining to think that at any point--at literally any point in the seven books--if Voldemort had gathered his henchpeople and been like, "You know what? Fuck this. Whoever sees the Potter kid first? Avada the shit out of him," the books just end.

Voldemort is a dumbass.

It's so delightful to FINALLY have Cyclops not acting like a total douche. I missed this guy.

This always bugged me: wouldn't it have been like 7 times easier to just use polyjuice potion to make Harry look like some random muggle than have 6 people turn into Harry? And wouldn't that have been a way less obvious way to sneak him out?

But, what do I know? I'm just a certified genius.

I lament that no one has ever bestowed upon me a diminutive as charming as "Won-Won." I consider it one of my greatest failures in life.

Every time I got a used text book someone had written in, the comments were racist, misogynistic, homophobic, or phone numbers for people ostensibly seeking a good time. Never once did they help me in my academic studies. Except for the phone numbers, because one time the good time someone was looking for was explaining to me the dehumanizing effects of the chancery court in Dickens' Bleak House.

A delightful spin on The Adventure of Silver Blaze, complete with numerous moldering horse corpses, impish demons, and the unraveling of clues.

Just like Sunday dinners at Grandma's house when I was a kid.

Denning’s sense of humor is so delightfully dry. I love it. It’s like swimming in the mouth of someone with a bad hangover.

I don't think there's any character in the HP universe I hate more than Umbridge. If I had to choose between blind date with her or a blind date with Voldemort, I'd pick Voldemort. Though that's partially because if the date went well, his whole lack of a nose thing would offset my extra nose situation and lead to smoother making out.

I think it's cool that in Victorian London, walking was WAY faster than Ubering.

10/10 that Ernie Macmillan doesn't stop talking about how he only goes to third-wave coffee shops but gets Starbucks every single time it's convenient.

Fun fact: Dickens liked hanging out with Leigh Hunt until one time at a pub when a drunken Hunt said to a server who mistakenly suggested that Dickens had authored La Comedie Humaine, "I do not know much when I am this inebriated, Madam, but I certainly still know my Dickens from my Balzac. And that man is the biggest Dickens I know."

After that, Dickens LOVED hanging out with Hunt.

Last night, my kids and our neighbors put on a concert as Voldemort and the Death Eaters. Easily the best concert I've ever seen. The highlight was Back of My Head, which was funny because it's true. Poor Professor Quirrell.

I think the only way you can read Wodehouse and not laugh is if you're a humor-hating robot who also enjoys torturing puppies, killing dreams, pulling the wings off of faeries, calling babies ugly, and dancing the Charleston (because no self-respecting human wants to look that ridiculous).

As usual, I have absolutely no idea what Bertie is saying, but every single word that comes out of his mouth is a delight.

I imagine that this is how most people feel when talking to me.

Thus far:

Pro: all sorts of things I love about Arthurian lore, fast-paced, solid art

Cons: The characters take like 5 seconds to fully embrace willing suspension of disbelief, lots of expository dialogue in bringing those characters up to speed, no turkey sandwiches in sight (only a con because I feel like one right now)

Because who better than Wodehouse to lift the spirits at a time like this?

It's eerie how prescient Wallace was with respect to technology's impact on society.

Just sent back the final line edits for The Part About the Dragon Was (Mostly) True to the good people at Parliament House Press. On December 15, it will be loose in the wild.

Gird your loins, friends. Not necessarily for the book; just because loin girding is good practice generally.
