I'll say this very effusively when I finish and write a review, but if you love history and magic and epic events told through the lens of individual characters, then you absolutely need this book on your TBR.

For those of you with an aural fixation, I'm delighted to announce that we've got a very talented voice actor lined up to do the audiobook version of The Part About the Dragon Was (Mostly) True! Looking forward to hearing how she masters the nuances of frequently defecating rock giant dialect.

You know how sometimes you just want to completely lose yourself in what you feel is going to be an amazing book, but life keeps getting in the way?

Yeah, me too.

Every single time I try to finally make it all the way through Green Eggs and Ham, I swear--earthquakes, floods, volcanoes. It's just not fair.

You can actually see the point where Stan was like, “Screw this—I have exactly zero time to write this book. Four panels per page MAX, you artistic doo-doo heads!”

(Note: this is obviously a completely made-up quote. Stan would really have called them “avuncular and aromatic artistic autocrats!” just because he liked how it sounded.)

Me, reading this: "Man, I want to go back to the late 18th century and partake in stimulating past times like wordplay!"

The characters in this book: "Fuck another game of anagrams--let's go to the 21st century and use the internet; that thing is so, so much better than everything we have. Also, INDOOR PLUMBING."

I find it weird that an alien supervillain would come to Earth and pick "Lucifer" as his moniker. Like, did he crash land in a Sunday school class? If he'd landed in a Recordtown circa 1994, would he have named himself GWAR?

Like, c'mon, man. Give yourself some flair.

I'm incredibly saddened by the loss of Carlos Ruiz Zafon. If you've never read The Shadow of the Wind, I can't recommend it highly enough. Adventure, mystery, pathos, romance...it's got something for everyone. The ideal story about stories for people who love stories.

Little-known fact: Professor Charles Xavier was the first Debate Me Bro, as evidenced by his calling up the switchboard operator at "National Television Network" and demanding a chance to argue with someone on air the next evening.

Never has a duo been as deeply, passionately, and obliviously in love for eons without ever saying anything as Scott Summers and Jean Grey.

Except maybe peanut butter and pickle. We all know those two want to get together and make sweet, sweet sandwiches together, but they just won't open up and admit their feelings. WHAT ARE YOU SO AFRAID OF, CRUSHED PEANUTS AND FORMER CUCUMBER?!

The thought of staking vampire vegetables with toothpicks is just delightful.

I'm glad my son is enjoying this series as much as I did when I was a kid.
