It's crazy how much Hadrian changes from these early days to the end of Ashes of Man, dude. Like, obviously that's the case, and I could even see that while reading the series for the first time, but this just hits different lol

Welp, Chapters 5-6 weren't what I was perhaps anticipating to get, but they did not disappoint. Very good read today!

End of Chapter 5 got surprisingly philosophical.

Strangely enough, the vibes of this book are VERY 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea in a lot of ways, and that really has taken me off guard haha.

Considering I love that book, that's not a problem, but I definitely need to see where this goes further.

First couple chapters down. Very enjoyable prose/reading experience so far. At first, I was disoriented by the narrator himself, unsure if it was another Call of the Wild/White Fang situation, but I'm thinking after Chapter 2 that's not the case.

Either way, I like it so far. Hoping this will be an overall quick read, as I've got a lot to get through this month.

First 3 chapters got read this morning...honestly, VERY good so far.

Lot's of cool stuff getting trickled in at just the right pace. Look forward to continuing.

Part 1 complete already. Probably the one with the slowest start, but simultaneously the most depth; probably my favorite start so far, with many scenes I remember quite well.

Ngl, Prologue was quite good. I'm excited to finally dig into this.

ZOOMING through today. Only 40 pages left. Easily will finish in the morning. Would finish tonight, but I got a SUN EATER KICKSTARTER LAUNCH TO CAMP XD

Big progress the last couple days. I was wondering for a second if I'd finish on Sunday instead of Saturday.

I love how this book has simultaneously all of the same vibes and also NONE of the vibes of The Lost Hero.

Plenty of the story-line thus far is similar, but also flipped entirely onto the other side of the plot, and it's great.

Much more active intro than in The Lost Hero - at least, a bit quicker anyway. HELL YEAH!

Hardly a "happy ending"...and clearly only an Act 1 to this story. I'm again so glad that the rest of the trilogy also comes this year.

Book remains to be incredible book, indeed, yes.

One chapter left and the epilogue is all. So excited to finish; I’m always very excited the rest of the trilogy comes this year.

Okay then, this is absolutely not the direction I expected for this to go. Like, not the way I expected for the journey to take a detour. But I'm definitely interested.

Also nice to get another chapter with the Chapter 2 POV; looking forward to getting more of that to come as well.

Book is continuing to be surprisingly splendid and play right along the line of predictable but usurping what I'm predicting. Amazing.

I can't believe how brilliantly Philip is taking and using tropes in fun, interesting, and unexpected ways. Nearly every chapter has seen some form of twist on what one might expect from this if it were written 50 years, while continuing to feel like it was written 50 years ago.

It's the perfect mix so that is really infectious.

Very strong opening. Loving the amount of history already there is here - whether it be the story told brilliantly as exposition in Chapter 1 or the unspoken personal history of Chapter 2's POV. Very excited to continue with this one.

I think possibly the worst thing about Percy Jackson and the Olympians is that the pacing was not always on point - Riordan would stick so much material into a page count that was frankly too short to contain it all and the it'd feel like the sequences would pass by a bit too quick.

Pacing is damn near perfect in this so far in comparison.

I can already tell this series re-read is gonna be a highlight of the year for me.
