Read the poem "Tamerlane". The first several pages flew over my head, but several of the final stanzas struck me particularly beautiful.

Definitely a lot to chew on in this one tho.

Finished Part One today; amazing last few chapters of it too.

Again, slow progress unfortunately. Cursed work problems got in the way of my goal of reaching Part Two at page 210 today.

- Interesting one; there were a couple bits that I saved to think about; not entirely sure what the basis is. (3.5/5)

- I guess this combines lines from other media to make…something? Idk, this one doesn’t do anything. (1/5)

- Short but SWEET. These 8 lines had me really thinking; I’ve saved them to think and decipher more later. (4.5/5)

Got through a few more chapters this morning; surprised at how quickly the story of this is moving forward! I wasn't expecting for some of this to occur for several more chapters.

I wonder if this snappy pace is indicative of at least the majority of the remainder of the book. If so, I'll have a hard time spreading this one out lol

I can already tell this is gonna be an all-timer. I still heavily regret not finishing this when I first tried it about 7 years ago cuz I was loving.

Good Intentions: Story from Valka? FUCK yeah. Also, being IN her head for the first time was great. A lot of emotional gut punch for 20 pages.

The Haunted Man:

Stave One was VERY good. I was a little lost for the first 7 or so pages, but once the character interactions started occurring and especially once "The Ghost's Bargain" came into play, I'm all in.

This chapter could've been a good short story alone. Super hype to read the rest of this one.

Just finished A Christmas Carol: Wonderful. Absolutely wonderful.

I wish a couple of the staves were expanded more - especially given my familiarity with a very particular film adaptation that I think it more effective, but still very good story.

I'm sad in a way that I read this before The Haunted Man, because now I'm worried The Haunted Man won't be as good to finish off this collection lol

A Christmas Tree: Strange story. Seems like a retrospective type of thing that was really cool at the start, and surprisingly dreary at the end. Not sure what I read tho tbh.

The First two Staves of A Christmas Carol: Fantastic. Phenomenal. Loving it.

The Story of the Goblins Who Stole a Sexton:

Best part of this collection so far as I’ve read. Story is actually rather captivating and charming. Would be a fun one to read out loud for sure lol

The Seven Poor Travelers: Dickens is very obviously a fan of Christmas. I just wonder what compelled to write these stories. At least, the shorter ones in this collection I'm not sure I'm really "getting" overall.

Still have a couple short ones left before the two big bois (Christmas Carol + The Haunted Man and The Ghost's Bargain).

Christmas Festivities: Was really just kind of a vibe. Made the mood at work a little bit Christmas-y which was nice.

A Christmas Episode from Master Humphrey's Clock: I guess this is part of another story Dickens wrote that I've not heard of. Was good, but didn't mean much without the rest of the story

What Christmas Is, As We Grow Older: Ngl, the writing of this one was hard to follow LMAO. No clue wtf I read lol
