Also, Eostre - the Fertility/Sex Goddess from which the name "Easter" is is derived as yet another Pagan holiday was appropriated in the spread of Christianity.

...so I'm reading an Bunny book, an Eostre (Sex Goddess FTW!) book & a Zombie book today.

It's Easter. Figured I'd read something appropriate. Of course one of the only ones I have features Jory. *sigh*

I originally thought I'd wait to read this in case "psychics" was called for a BINGO category. Yeah, no. That might not come soon enough for my taste. Good thing there are 4 more in the series!

Is it weird that the most arousing part of this story so far is Max correcting Rick's "try and relax" to the correct usage of "try to relax"?

My inner grammar nerd whole-heartedly gets off on this...

OMG, I think the opening scene had shades of Independence Day written all over it. Plus Spaceballs, Rick & Morty and Star Wars references galore. And now there's a mention of Babylon 5.

I freaking love this book.

(Also, how much more interesting would Farscape have been if John had to deal with the translation errors of a computer matrix rather than being shot up with some microbes?)

Wow, and I thought Jefferson was just an asshole, a bit lazy and set in his ways. Looks to be a much deeper issue than that. So creepy now the way he's trying to get under Cooper's skin, lead the investigation the way he wants it to pan out (picking a suspect & making the crimes fit - I see where Cooper gets it now), making Cooper doubt himself...

Oh, good! I'm glad Cooper realizes the complete lack of information about werewolves is hampering good investigation. Not sure if putting it in a report will do much, though...

I think I'm expecting more from the SBI because I'm used to how integrated & educated the teams are in books like the THIRDs. It's only been 5 years since a limited werewolf "coming out" so I guess it takes time to work out the bugs.

Still a lot of trying to fit the crime(s) around one particular person, even when Cooper is trying to do that thing you see in profiler shows - getting into their head, copying their movements, etc.

I'm going to have to just accept him as "human" with all the frailties that come with that or else I'm gonna end up going crazy picking things apart.

I do like all the snark & banter between the MCs though!

So far I am not impressed with this SBI agency. It seems they don't do a good job of educating their agents. Well, other than "Werewolves Exist." A lot appears to be either learned on the job & not really shared among other agents, or guesswork based on bad assumptions. Or bigotry in general.

Not sure if this is a systemic issue or if The Trust doesn't trust (heh) even a dedicated LEO branch with basic information.

I'm having issues with a trained, smart, intuitive ex-FBI profiler just deferring to his partner in that "Nearest Werewolf Is Guilty" type policing.

It rubs me wrong that he isn't quite seeing it as similar 2 the profiling tactics of old-South style cops. You know, back when a crime committed in a white neighborhood meant arresting a black man & then molding the case around that presumption? (So, yeah, yesterday.)

Dylan had no clue what the hell he was doing. He's a fucking Canadian. He still thinks an Army is for peacekeeping.

When war isn't actively declared against an enemy state, this is exactly what they should be used for.

OMG, I'm LOLing over here as the protestors chant things about Derek (from Teen Wolf) being the hottest werewolf on the planet.

I mean, truth. But still. LOLing.

Reading this book makes me crave Chicago dogs and TimBits. Argh, I hate living in LV sometimes...

I absolutely love how Kenneth Obi makes Hollis sound stuffed up as the character suffers from a cold. Not enough of that kind of commitment to the performance in audio books, IMHO.

Okay, this started off pretty good...and now it's so totally OTT sweet and sappy and I don't know if I can finish if it stays this way.

Seriously, the badass grumpy captain seems to have had a personality transplant in the span of a couple pages (yeah, I know the gruffness is supposed to be because he's jonesing for a mate, but still).
