Can I just comment on a word in the glossary, please?

I absolutely love procedurals, mysteries and whodunits, so I was excited to see that this week is GR's Mystery & Thriller Week...except, way to not include any MM writers or books. Didn't see a single mention of a gay MC cop/PI either.

GoodReads FAIL.

You know, I frequently rave about how talented I believe Sean Crisden and Greg Tremblay are with their narration accents...but holy hell I think Michael Ferraiuolo might just take the gold with all of his. I didn't even realize he was the same voice for Santino's Five Boroughs series - and I LOVE LOVE LOVE how he gives life to those characters.

This one just isn't resonating with me all that well...too much "tell" and not enough "show." Not all that fond of Chance either; even if it's supposed to mirror the cadence and style of the era in which this book is set, his "voice" is annoying as all hell.

Okay, wait, what? Is this ALL a dream? Not sure how else to explain this Jory-like "everyone wants Sam" aspect otherwise...

Seriously, I'm starting to love Mitch more and more. Also, Sam is completely clueless; I adore how he's absolutely oblivious to the clues this poor boy appears to be sending him.

OMG, as if I didn't love the entire premise of the book being an homage to Sixteen Candles, I now have the Altered Images version of Happy Birthday stuck in my head. (I also once had Clare's haircut from that vid.)

And while I didn't mind Sam & Jake hooking up in the movie...I'm barely 20 minutes into this book & I'm already hoping that THIS Sam ends up with Mitch instead.

I don't know what's wrong with me. I liked the first one but so far - at the half-way point now - I'm just kind of over the whole thing here. Like, meh. I don't really care?

Well, this is turning out to be much darker than I anticipated...

I've read books in this 'verse before & I know I've put this particular story on the back shelf for so long because of its length (over 400 pgs). But man, now that I've started I don't want to put it down! It's a slow build, giving the story & characters time to develop, to evolve - without being bogged down in minutiae or unnecessary details. I feel like these are the best-fleshed characters I've read in a while.

*Yes, I'm a little late with the well-wishes but dude...it's 4/20. I only just got my ass off the sofa.

First of all: Damn it! I could have really used this book during the States Bonus of the UT Challenge because Idaho. Not an easy state to get a longer read for.

Second: Peat just mentioned that, once again, it's Tuesday. I can't be the only one to read this and think:

Why do all my books keep showing up with multiple reads when I've only entered them as read once? On top of that, I'm having issues with the start and finish dates not "sticking" so that I have to go enter them again once I've moved them to my Read shelf...

It's not often that miss living in Marietta, GA again...the election tomorrow is one of those rare reasons I wish I were still there, though.

The best part of traveling is, well, traveling. Going places, doing things. (The Family Business?)

But the worst part is being away from my computer and having to wait with updates on all the books I read in transit until after I get home. (I hate the GR app; it sucks...and not in the fun way.)

Off to do that now I guess...

Yeah, I didn't much like the first 20% or so. Typical me, though - throw in a mystery, crime or procedural aspect and now I'm hooked.

UTC Twister Bonus read...and obviously I need to go through my TBR because I didn't realize I'd shelved this. However, I'm a good sport; it came up as a random read for my recent spin - so I'm gonna read it. *sigh* (Definitely going back through my TBR when I'm done to make sure I don't end up with another book I'm not so jazzed about reading...)

Why is this not a TV show already? I'd totally watch this, and not just 'cause I'm a procedural show addict.
