I think I get the idea of what is happening, but the world-building/backstory is a little lacking here. Also, I'm not reading the paperback version, but I like this cover better (and it's also the cover of my ebook so I'm using it even if that version isn't listed here at GR).

Well, an hour and a half in and that title is very appropos.

So, other than hating how Quinn is referred to as Dima's "bitch" I'm totally digging how this bodark society has been sheltered & misinformed about their country & the military they're serving (still wondering who that actually is, too). LOVING how the big, strong, burly, dominant appearing Nazar really wants to be Dima's bottom boy but can't get past his indoctrinated role & established hierarchy to ASK for it.

I guess I just had to get over the hump or something because this book is so much more interesting now...

Wasn't too impressed by the first two books I read in this series...but it's a Members Choice challenge read and I'm saving my last wildcard for a shittier book, just in case. So, whadya gonna do? *shrug*

Okay, at first the dirty talk was hella hot...now it's just cheesy as fuck. "That's it, stud, come for me." Who in the hell says something like that outside of porn?

Okay, what? Only one of each business type is allowed in this town? So, with it being quite a distance to any other reasonably sized city, then the residents here are stuck with whatever they've got? That if the service is shitty, the products are shoddy or the prices outrageous...well, tough luck? Because there's absolutely no competition? What the actual fuck? Having problems suspending disbelief here.

I'm gonna need a Librarian to add Santino Hassell's Five Boroughs MFM freebie Corrupting Chris to GoodReads ASAP so that I can mark my progress.

I haven't read a het menage (on purpose) in over a year, so yes, it is simply because Santino wrote that I am taking the chance again...

MMF book needed for Shelf-A-Thon challenge, but since I can't use it for any of my other ones I'm picking the shortest one I have on my shelf. Oddly enough, I've actually already read this one - somehow I didn't mark it as such though, so I'm re-reading. Good thing it's Samantha Kane; she writes some of my favorite MMF!

Okay, I know that this book covers a really weighty, emotional subject...& I'm reading the words, seeing the mood swings and fear but I'm not feeling them. Maybe my angst/heart-break fuse has short-circuited with all the other heavy books I've read lately? IDK what's wrong, why I'm not connecting with this story...

How is it that so few people have read or listened to this amazing book, this entire series? It should have as many hits and reviews as The Captive Prince, at least - which I HAVE listened to and really liked but still...I just don't understand people.

OMG, why hasn't someone made this into a mini-series? It has a distinctly original feel, and as much as I loved Reaper, this could be even better.

I was gonna go off in my review on how this was shelved as BDSM when the main tenet of the lifestyle is "safe, sane, consensual" and there can be no consent when a person is a slave, doesn't own himself, has no agency or power to wield in this kind of situation. MASSIVE kudos for that, Kim!

JFC, how in the hell did I forget how emotionally powerful the first book in this series was? This one's gonna hurt...I can already tell.

Perhaps you might take a look at the programming matrix for determining what books you will be pushing in the "Because you enjoyed ______" section as pimping several Het/MF books in that list is exactly the OPPOSITE of what I would actually enjoy and as such have absolutely no interest in reading. Recommendation Fail.

I feel that getting to the half-way point of an almost 600pg book should be commemorated in some way; thus, an extraneous update.

I'm like, two chapters from DNFing this.

WHAT THE HELL!??!?!? It's the middle of book 2 - you just don't DO THAT this early. OMG Joss is a bad influence on EVERYONE. (I still worship his talent, tho.)
