Thanks for the picks :)

I am going to read Divergent. I ordered Beauty dates the Beast and it should be here in the next week or so if you would like to do this as a buddy read.

Suzanne (pebblesy) Hi MommaSeymour,

This is my second try at picking... got the wrong person first time! It seems we have similar tastes... and also very different tastes! I was going to recommend Virgin River series, but saw you couldn't finish even the first one, has made me question a couple of my original choices and I'm still a little unsure to be honest! If there isn't anything good here let me know and I can repick :)
School's out for summer I completely missed this first time round!! Thankfully I have just the book The Wind Singer I read this quite a while ago now.. but I remember really loving it. Its a YA book.
The Wind Singer (Wind on Fire, #1) by William Nicholson
Flag Day, June 14th The Hunt Slightly bending the rules... Vampire Law enforcement count? (My first choice here fitted really well for the BBQ one!)
The Hunt (Laws of the Blood, Book 1) by Susan Sizemore

Don't Forget the Sunscreen Backstage Pass I have read this one already and I really enjoyed it - its a quick read with some raunchy scenes + the bonus of Fire on the cover, if that's not hot enough I don't know what is.
Backstage Pass (Sinners on Tour #1) by Olivia Cunning

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream - Dirty found this one when searching for Fran... they meet in a candy shop! Definitely fits this criteria
Dirty by Megan Hart

Fire up the BBQ - Love in the Time of Dragons I had this recommended to me in a previous PIFM and I really enjoyed it. Lots of outdoor scenes so definitely fits the bill.

Summer Solstice - Summer of Love Found this on your TBR's and it sounds pretty good
Summer of Love by Katie Fforde

Gay Pride Month - Never actually read a same sex book... so found out that there is a M-M monthly buddy read in this group! June they are reading: Out in the Field so that might be a good one to read, you will have a whole group reading with you :)
http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/9...
Out in the Field by Kate McMurray

Old Maids Day, June 4th - One For The Money Grandma Mazur is such a fantastic character! Definitely a cringe-worthy grandma, but lovable all the same
One For The Money (Stephanie Plum, #1) by Janet Evanovich

Buddy Reads:
So... I struggled with these a little bit... I'm worried that my "beach" choice is a bit... meh... but hope it's good :)

Sand in Your Shorts - Kiss an Angel something that sounds light-hearted and perfect for a day at the beach
Kiss an Angel by Susan Elizabeth Phillips

Best Friends Day, June 8th - Lover Unleashed I'm not up to this so can't read it with you - but there is definitely a whole lot of friendship and comraderie in these books... that and some steamy sex scenes ;)
Lover Unleashed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #9) by J.R. Ward

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments Hi Ana!

I finally finished picking my recs, and I tried to limit myself to books that are already in your TBR shelf.

1. SCHOOL'S OUT FOR THE SUMMER:
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak by Markus Zusak
Funny, poignant, and unforgettable. I can't stop recommending this book.

2. FLAG DAY
Extreme Exposure (I-Team, #1) by Pamela Clare by Pamela Clare
A politician and a journalist - not the most popular of vocations, but Pamela Clare made them very interesting in this book.

3. DON'T FORGET THE SUNSCREEN
Liberating Lacey by Anne Calhoun by Anne Calhoun
One of my favorite erotic older wonan/younger man romance books.

4. I SCREAM, YOU SCREAM, WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM
Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie by Jennifer Crusie
Funny, sweet story that will leave you smiling.

5. FIRE UP THE BBQ
Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel by Laura Esquivel
The food is almost a character in this magical tale of forbidden love.

6. SUMMER SOLSTICE
The Iron King (The Iron Fey, #1) by Julie Kagawa by Julie Kagawa
I can't remember if this book happened during summer, but there are Summer fairies, so I hope that counts. : )

7. GAY PRIDE MONTH
Str8te Boys by Evangeline Anderson by Evangeline Anderson
The first m/m story I've read, and I enjoyed it very much.

8. OLD MAID'S DAY

Lekshmy | 245 comments Hi debbie
I will post your picks Tomo morning (US time)
sorry for keeping toy wait.. I had busy weekend ....

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments Kate, from a former Pennsylvanian to a current one, I'm hoping you'll find something you like here. I'm a big light contemporary fan and from your ratings of those we have in common, you seem to like them to. Be sure to let me know which you pick.

1. Schools Out for Summer! - Summer at Seaside Cove My favorite summer vacation read from last year. Of course then again there are only so many books I read last year about someone taking summer vacation at the beach. If you'd rather the YA book, read The Little Prince. In fact read this no matter what else you decide to read. Less than 100 pages and a story that every child should read growing up.

2. Flag Day, June 14th - So many ways to go here! The Lori Foster Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor is interesting if a bit over the top (saying a bit over the top is like saying Everest is a good sized hill). You have a Roxanne St. Claire you liked and a couple in your TBR so I say go with Edge of Sight. A cool one eyed hero makes it interesting. There is a whole other series that leads into this and a prequel but you don't need to read them to enjoy this. I didn't and I'm normally very anal about that sort of thing.

3. Don't Forget the Sunscreen - Steamy? I read a fair amount of erotica. You don't seem to shy away from it. Megan Hart is an author that writes about some intense topics. You have several of hers on your TBR. Also, all of her books are based about two hours west of where you live. I think I'm going to do a buddy read of Broken with Penney this month. You could join us.

4. I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream - You read the first Lucky Harbor book from Jill Shalvis and stopped?! You gave the first four stars and stopped?! This is a great series. Books four, five, and six are due this summer (four is out now) and what better way to get caught up than with The Sweetest Thing. Good stuff here.

5. Fire up the BBQ - OK, so this might be not quite up your alley but Cooking up a Storm certainly qualifies. A bit on the erotica side of things but an interesting read. Besides you have several in your TBR but have yet to give her a shot. This is as good a place as any to dip your big toe so to speak.

6. Summer Solstice - I really wanted to recommend Molly Harper's Naked Werewolf book one for the cooking category but you already read it! (gave it a five I might add) Her non-PNR book, And One Last Thing ..., is fantastic. I'm reasonably sure it takes place over the summer. If not then I cheated and you still get a great book to read.

7. Gay Pride Month - I've read a number of m/m and f/f books but nothing that screams 'READ ME!'. Maybe some of the Emma Holly stuff or Megan Hart stuff, but I've already recommended books by both. How about we go with another light contemporary romance? The Victoria Dahl's Donnovan Brothers Brewery covers were bright, but you've read those. Along similar lines would be Christie Ridgway's How to Knit a Wild Bikini. I haven't liked much else of what she's written, but I liked this trilogy.

8. Old Maids Day, June 4th - Let's jump to the PNR side of the world and go with the next BDB book. Haven't gotten around to Lover Reborn? here's your chance. And yeah, these guys are pretty damn old.

9. Sand in Your Shorts - What makes a good beach read? For me it's a book I like. Well, I haven't read Kiss an Angel yet but I'm going to read it this month. I haven't met an SEP book yet I haven't liked. Care to join me?

10. Best Friends Day, June 8th - Friends play a large role in EVERY Susan Mallery book and her Fool's Gold series is due to continue any day now. Let's read Summer Days.

Bonus Pick: Not necessary but nice.
11. Father's Day, June 17th, because we all love a good daddy! - You have Halfway to the Grave in your TBR but have not read any of this series? It's good. Highly recommended. And the father is a significant character in the book.

Summer at Seaside Cove by Jacquie D'Alessandro The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Edge of Sight (The Guardian Angelinos, #1) by Roxanne St. Claire Broken by Megan Hart The Sweetest Thing (Lucky Harbor, #2) by Jill Shalvis Cooking up a Storm by Emma Holly And One Last Thing ... by Molly Harper How to Knit a Wild Bikini (Malibu and Ewe #1) by Christie Ridgway Lover Reborn (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #10) by J.R. Ward Kiss an Angel by Susan Elizabeth Phillips Summer Days (Fool's Gold, #7) by Susan Mallery Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost

message 271: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments Jim - you should come and join us with our m/m buddy read in June - we've been doing them the last few months and its been kind of fun - would love some male insight...and don't worry, its not historical

message 272: by Emily (new)

Emily | 199 comments If you need anyone to help with re-picks let me know.

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments What's the book Dee? I'll give it a shot. I'm already in for 4-5 books this month but I think I might be able to get one more in. send me a link and I'll see what I can do.
