Great idea to have a introductions thread!
Great idea to have a introductions thread!I'm a preschool teacher living in Southern California. My job has major ups and downs, so I love to unwind with a good book after work. I'm also getting my masters in Humanities. I have two classes left for the whole program and I have no idea what I want to do when I graduate! Oh, the anxiety.
I discovered this group when Felicia day first announced it, and have been following it from the very beginning. I've always remained quiet here though, because I can be shy even over the web!
I was actually an intern for the Knights of Good, making sets and props for Felicia's Dragon Age project and a little bit for season 5 of The Guild. I met Felicia, who I am a huge fan of, right as I was having the world's longest sneezing fit. Not one of my best moments D:
In my free time I like crafting (poorly), playing video games, and spending time with my small circle of friends. I play guitar and banjo and volunteer with animals when I have the time.
I am definitely looking for more friends on GoodReads. I love seeing what people with similar tastes to mine are picking up. There's always some great title I have yet to hear of.
Hi I am Olivia I live in Charleston,SC and am a 20 year old college student. This December will be my first VF month book that I will read and participate in the discussions. I have been watching it on and off for the last few months. With my semester coming to a close I thought I would get back to reading and thought doing a book forum would be fun.

Hey, I'm Angela and I live in Nova Scotia, Canada. I go through ridiculous reading phases where I can't stop myself and at times the last thing I want to do is read. Recently I haven't been able to stop it's been a good 3 months 10 books and 58 walking dead comics since I started this cycle.

I'm on a big angel kick right now, every author has a different take on it and they are vastly different it's pretty interesting.
My favourite author and series by far is Patrick Rothfuss' "The Kingkiller Chronicle", they are the most epic thing ever. Total fangirl.
Besides that I'm an ex wow addict...we do exist. I enjoy me some boarderlands, Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed in my spare time along with the rare game of NHL. Along with watching actual hockey when there isn't a lockout, I enjoy my Sundays filled with football.
Looking forward to the smut and drinks.
Hey all! I'm Amber. 24, anthropology student at the University of Idaho, bibliophile since my papa taught me to read. I'm super excited to have found a group of like minded readers!

 Hi there!
Hi there! I'm Lauren, from Texas. I used to chew through books like they were candy. But since I started school I have been in the post YA fog. I was rewatching the Guild and saw the vid in the sidebar, so here I am!!
Hey Hey Hey! My name is Kelly (I go by Sheridan also) and I love readng, especially romance. I've been reading them since I stumbled on a Julie Garwood book of my mom's. I have a book review blog and I read (or reread) at least one book per week. Yes! Book extravaganza!

hello everyone, I'm Dan from NYC and I'm 18 years old. I have always love reading, but never really thought of reading any type of romance until I started watching the vaginal fantasy hangouts, and realized that I should give it a try. So my first official book would be succubus blues and I must say I am liking the genre. Other then reading I spend most of my time learning about new topics and play video games. Other than that I tend to spend most of my time trying to avoid all forms of interaction with other people... so yeah

Hello, I'm Amy from Seattle. Avid reader and gamer all my life, also a writer. My favorite genres are fantasy, romance, science fiction, and YA. I also read a lot of nonfiction, especially about science and history. Gaming--not much time for it these days, but I've got an active WOW subscription and I just downloaded the new XCom off Steam. Used to be a software developer, and I do a little of that on the side, but I'm more focused on other things now.

I read Succubus Blues a number of years ago (loved it!), so this month I'll be reading Dragon Actually.
 Hi there!
Hi there!I'm Michaela and I live in Vancouver, Canada. I just joined the VF and Sword and Laser book clubs. I have loved to read for as long as I can remember. I have a habit of buying too many books which gather dust while I scramble to complete them (I've never caught up to my habit). I've never completed a romance novel, though in high school my friends and I would go to the library and thumb through them to find the sex scenes :)
Hello everyone, my name is Sky, and I am 26 years old. I am currently resided around Dallas, Texas. I recently joined this club, but have known about it through a friend for quite some time. And as a gamer geek, I have known about Felicia and her crew for ages through watching The Guild.
Hello everyone, my name is Sky, and I am 26 years old. I am currently resided around Dallas, Texas. I recently joined this club, but have known about it through a friend for quite some time. And as a gamer geek, I have known about Felicia and her crew for ages through watching The Guild. I have 5 loves in life, art/photography, music, books, nature and my wonderful man. (Pick and choose which order they go in) I am goofy, love to laugh and have fun, and always have a listening ear! Having a mother who is an avid reader, I have picked up the lifestyle of reading at the age of 3, she taught me well. Ever since then, I couldn't be stopped! I am somewhat new to Goodreads as well, and vying to remember every book I have ever read.
I love all genres, but Thrillers/Mysteries and Paranormal are my favorites! I have braved a new risqué genre this year which happens to be mixed with all sorts of my other favorites, and was recommended to me through a friend who has watched the VF Hangout religiously. That series being The Fever series by Karen Marie Moning. My newly favorite author @_@ I can’t wait to get to know you all, looking forward to all the fun that goes around here =) If you have ANY recommendations at all, please, send them my way! I love everything from Historical, Paranormal, YA, right down to Romance! (E-V-E-R-Y_T-H-I-N-G)
Hello everyone. I'm Tof, 33, and I teach Creative Writing in Full Sail University's MFA program. The books of Jane Austen and Lois McMaster Bujold convinced me that I wanted to be reading - and writing - more romance.

The books of Jane Austen and Lois McMaster Bujold convinced me that I wanted to be reading - and writing - more romance.I discovered the Guild through Dr. Horrible, though that seems strange to me now, as I really love the show (and the comics aren't bad either).
All of this has led/pushed/pulled/compelled me to that point that I now have my owb fantasy romance webseries (podcast and chapterbook - nothing too fancy) with Big World Network.
Shameless plug: it's free (for now) and you can find it at http://bigworldnetwork.com/Autumn.html
Content warning: contains feminism, race and age differences (older woman), disability, serious issues, and a lot of smut (a friend described it as "romantic erotica")
I'm not yet widely read in romance and would appreciate suggestions, especially those with Sci-Fi or Fantasy themes, and/or LGBTQ themes. Straight stuff too, just not stories where he's a jerk and she loves him anyway.
(Darcy passes my jerk-test because he's more neurotic than mean and because Lizzy stands up to him, rather than fawning on him.)
Hi, I'm Joanne (or Taekwondodo) and I'm always so awkward in these introduce yourself threads.
Hi, I'm Joanne (or Taekwondodo) and I'm always so awkward in these introduce yourself threads.I'm 25 and have always been an avid reader but I've never really read erotic fiction before, mostly because I'm too self conscious. I really enjoy Felicia and the gang's dissections of these books so I decided to have a look myself, my first official book being Cthulhurotica, and I'm hooked now!
I'm a pretty nerdy girl, though not in any specific area, and I love the fact I can have a romance/erotic book while still pandering to that geeky side of me.
Hi folks, I'm Jonathon. I'm 22 and I live in Birmingham, England. I've known about this group's existence for a few months but It wasn't until about a week ago that I finally followed Veronica over from the Sword and Laser group and sat and watched the back-run of the Vaginal Fantasy hangouts.

I've known about this group's existence for a few months but It wasn't until about a week ago that I finally followed Veronica over from the Sword and Laser group and sat and watched the back-run of the Vaginal Fantasy hangouts. Most of my reading is in the sci-fi and fantasy realms and after hearing some of the discussion from past books I think I could totally get on board with some of the romance etc that gets read here.
When I'm not buried in a books or comics, I'm a musician and gamer.
Hi everyone, I'm Rhona. I'm 26 and live just outside of a very cold Edinburgh, Scotland, knitting away happily in my spare time.I figured now was the time to join this forum as I have been watching the hangout for the past couple of months and love every minute of it, as well as reading books that some of them never knew of their existence.

I love reading fantasy scifi romance novels, with just completed reading the women of the otherworld series by Kelly Armstrong series recently, and needed to find some more smutty romance to get my teeth into. Other than that I'm a doctor who fanatic, and former wow player too, and love playing minecraft too.
Hope to join in the discussions soon with you guys :)
I've been a member for a few months. I haven't been able to read most of the books or like last month deal with things I don't like (I have enough nightmares, please no new Zombie was.) I have one rule mostly. If I can't get it from the local library, I won't read it.

My name is Jillian, but I also go by Silver. In my profile here on GR there is lots of info about me, my interests, and what I like to read, if you're interested in that, so need to repeat it here.

So, I spend a lot of time having Goodreads open at work and found it very hard to explain the name of this group to an unaware person LOL. I walked back to my office which I share with another co-worker, and she’s like, “So… you fantasize about vaginas?” I stop dead in my tracks like, “Excuse me?” “Well, I walked by and your page was up to that site you are always on and saw Vagina Fantasy Group so I was just wondering if you’re a-“ “No no no no nooooooo! Oh my God no, I don’t think about vaginas!” I had to beg her to let me explain LOL. Oh the fun!

Hi, I'm Amy. I'm a 36 year old reference librarian in Florida. Myself and two other staff members (we call ourselves the Lusty Bustys) have taken over ordering romance for our library and we're always on the lookout for new titles. My favorite romance authors are Meredith Duran, Ilona Andrews, Chloe Neill, and Anne Mallory. Non-romance author favorites are Kage Baker, Neil Gaiman, Elizabeth Peters/Barbara Michaels, and Tim Dorsey. My tastes run the gamut. :)

Big fan of Jim Butcher, pretty new to the whole paranormal romance scene.

Hi, I'm Matt. 32 IT Manager living in New Zealand, mostly I read hard sci-fi or high fantasy but have begun broadening of reading habits. Have run into the unfortunate problem of having too many I want to read. With romances I prefer ones with a good plot, do not like the ones whose 'plot' is just a bridge between sex scenes.

Hello! I'm Rachel, an 18-year old in my first year of college in Seattle but I am from Houston, which I love a lot.I used to be an avid reader many years ago (middle school mostly) but I've been trying to get back into it. Goodreads is a good motivator and I love that I can keep track of all the books I want to read!
I love watching TV, cooking vegan food, going on walks, rearranging my bedroom, and fantasizing about my future. I was first introduced to geek culture by Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which eventually led me to
Felicia Day, and now here I am.
I am so excited for the hangout on Sunday because for the first I will know what they are talking about! I really enjoyed Succubus Blues- it was my first official romance book. Can't wait to see what next month's picks are.
Hi everyone. My name is Angela and I joined the Vaginal Fantasy group a while back, but this is my first time posting. One of my New Year's resolutions is to stop lurking and start participating. We'll see how it goes! I love sci-fi, paranormal and fantasy romance, so much so I actually write the stuff too! I'm a member at Here Be Magic - a group of paranormal fantasy authors. Anyone heard of us? We're at http://herebemagic.blogspot.com/. You're all welcome to interact with us. As for what I'm currently reading, I'm going back and reading the Outlander by Diana Gabaldon because everyone always recommends it to me but I've never read it! Any other recommendations?

Hi! I'm Theresa and I live in Houston, Tx. I found Vag Fan by following Felicia. I love the Guild and the Flog. I really did not know that this genre existed, but now I have been telling all my friends. I watched the Cthulhu Erotica episode and I was hooked!

I'm Laura. I'm 33 and live in Omaha. I've followed the Sword and Laser club for a few months and decided to start following this one as well. To be honest, I've never read much romance/erotica but upped my intake this year. My husband has this quest to read every Silverberg book ever written so we read some of his old pulp together. It make me curious to read some better written 'smut'.

Hi I'm Meredith and I'm from Albuquerque, NM. Have followed Geek and Sundry for a couple months when I found out about this group. Love Felicia Day and decided to use the group as a reason to read more. Saw that they read Succubus Blues last month. I love that series and I'm looking forward to see what we are going to read next.

     Is this correct?
Is this correct?"VF just means that it is a female lead, usually written by a female (or female pseudonym). Sometimes there's romance, sometimes not. But first and foremost, it's her story from her POV."

Not that I'm an expert or anything, but I think it's pretty spot on. The level of romance or "smut" that is present in these kinds of books seems to be as wide and varied as in any other genre, and what is preferred seems to be entirely up to the reader.
Also it is of course usually set in some fantasy, sci-fi, steampunk or historically inspired setting.
I love to read (duh, obviously) & fangirl over films and tech. You're likely to find me taking jabs at GoodReads for functionality issues :)

You're likely to find me taking jabs at GoodReads for functionality issues :) I moonlight as web designer/developer way up north in Canada. Rest assured, I don't live an igloo or have polar bears as neighbors ;) (I secretly wish I did lol)
There's a full range of authors and genres I like. Recently discovered a renewed interest in YA and Contemporary romance books. Anyway...
argh...I'm rambling. [end transmission]
Hi! My name is Melissa. I'm in school, work full time, and play way more video games than I should. :) Obviously, I also like to read, but didn't much last year, so I'm trying to get back in the habit of doing so.

I joined the group ages ago, and I probably even made an introductory post (but I doubt I could find it now)... but now that I've been in it for a while I wanted to ask if there is a space where we can ask questions or make suggestions? I've read many of the books recommended, and I've enjoyed a lot of them... but I wish that there would be warnings on the violent/rape/more misogynistic stories, because they really piss me off (not an emotion I want before bed when I was expecting some fun sexy time). I realize that many times this is in the eye of the beholder, but I don't think that actual rape and/or a woman beaten bloody should be seen as anything but violence against women. thanks.

I realize that many times this is in the eye of the beholder, but I don't think that actual rape and/or a woman beaten bloody should be seen as anything but violence against women. thanks.
I've been following Felicia Day for a long time because I love her work as a courageous talented woman in new media. I always look forward to watching the VF Hangouts because it's so cool to see women openly and enthusiastically discussing books in a genre that has traditionally been shamed, and maybe because of that, the hangouts always end up being fun, interesting and relevant to me.

So... hi!
Hi, y'all. I'm an erotic romance writer who loves to read (seriously, I have to force myself to put down books so I can write). Looking forward to jumping into discussions on books.
