Hey everybody my name is Erin, I'm 29 years old, and I'm from NC. I guess I have been reading Paranormal/Fantasy/Sci Fi Romance for about 6 years when someone turned me on to Laurell K Hamilton (Anita Blake). Some books I think are in a grey area when trying to peg them into one genre right? I think so anyways and that book is one of them. More recently I have started reading Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series and those books are definitely in the Romance genre.

I also play video games, crochet, knit, work as a Software QA Analyst full time, and go to school part time for Computer Programming. I am married with 2 cats. Being new to this group, I have thoroughly enjoyed going through these forums and checking everything out.
This looks like fun...my name is Kim, I live in the middle of Arkansas, and I have three busy boys. I have always been an avid reader but after my kids were born I went through a phase where I was only reading "Goodnight Moon", "Caps for Sale" and such. I had a friend who kept telling me I needed to read Twilight. After three tries I was hooked. I became obsessed with Paranormal teenage romance. To the point I have been kicked out of our local library twice for going up to the teen section. The library does not care about the American Library Association Bill of Rights and how they are discriminating against me due to ageism, but that is another post. I read a little bit of everything now, and have been saying for years I want to be in a book club. This has been the second month I have actually participated in Vaginal Fantasy, and have loved it. I am really enjoying the historical fiction month and tearing through the books and their sequels. Looking forward to July's selections.

     Hello,
Hello,My name is Leslie, I'm 33, I live in the Kansas City area, and although I am a science fiction and sometime fantasy fan I was a bit skeptical about this group as I am a bit anti-romance. I am also a full time student and a mother of two small children, so I don't have a lot of time to read for pleasure. However, after reading a couple back covers of some of the books this group reads I have decided to go ahead and give it a try. I think I will pick up August's choices.

Hello, I'm Christine, I'm in my 40s...and love all books more or less, my taste is wildly eclectic. Also tend to be a bit of binge reader. After spending the last four years reading sci-fantasy (YA and adult),I got bogged down in the fourth GRR Martin novel, Feast of Crows, and get into romance novel reading binge. It'll break soon. Of the genre's my favorite is the blends, where two genres are blended.
I live in NYC. Am single. And work as a legal professional for a railroad.
Hello everyone! I am Amber. I started reading romance by swiping my stepmom's books as a teenager. I love mystery romance and period romance the best though I do like paranormal romance when done really well. I have a healthy love for Sci Fi and Fantasy. For reasons TOO long to go into here, I stopped reading for several years. Audiobooks helped me return to that love several years ago when I had a HUGE commute here in Atlanta. So you will probably hear quite often if I like the audio version or not.

I'm a knitter, a cosplayer, a costumer and a geek. I attend DragonCon every year here in Georgia. I work security escort there so I have met Felicia :D. I can't wait to see her this year too.
Oh and the best compliment I could give an author is that he/she has done their research.

 Hello there,
Hello there,I am Charlotte and I am currently studying Philosophy, Religion and English in New Zealand. The first VF book that I read was Finger Smith. I reached the point where whenever I went into a book store I could never decide on a book because they all seemed either too mature or too YA. So I decided to choose something completely different and boy was I in for a treat! I've been addicted to sexy books ever since however I usually find myself reading more Sci Fi.
I'm a fan of romances (historical, paranormal, action, contemporary) and Lit in general. My free-time reading has suffered a bit since getting my MA in English, so I'm hoping that Goodreads can fix that a bit ;) (My current reading list: Storm of Swords and Fantasy Lover)

I'm starting on the Duchesses and Rake reads for Hangout 7. Can't wait!

Excuse my lateness, I just saw this thread lol :P
Excuse my lateness, I just saw this thread lol :PMy name is Bo and I'm 23. I grew up all over the (mostly) east coast (I've moved 15+ times). I currently reside just outside Tampa, FL. I've always loved to read and recently (last year) read my first 'romance' (or 'sexy book that middle-aged ladies on the beach read with big floppy hats' ...what I used to call them) book. I read pretty much anything that comes my way. I love gaming. I used to play WoW and many other mmorpg's, but my laptop crashed last year and I haven't gotten around to replacing it. I'm stuck on my 1GB netbook for now :( It's just enough to play Tibia (many kudos if you know what this game is!) and a few random browser games. I think my computer cries a little inside anytime I dare to open too many apps or switch programs too fast. I also think it would $h*t itself if it were to ever attempt to show WoW's graphics, lolol. I came across a VF Hangout on YouTube two months ago while it was streaming live. I screamed and hugged myself inside, I was so excited to hear that there was such a thing (and by one of my idols, Felicia Day, nonetheless!!). Oh, and there was wine. Plenty of wine. That was definitely a seller! ;) Anyways, that's a little bit about me. I'm excited to discover new books, make new friends, and all the adventures that go along with it :))

Wow. What an interesting group of people! I am Susan, I LOVE pretty well everything I can get my hands on as far as I can tell. More SF/Fantasy person, and like it a bit dark. Although I have read all the Georgette Heyers.

Hello :) My name is Kristen, I'm 21 from Brooklyn, NY. I've always been an avid reader, even before I could read. My mom would always read to me and my brother and it's something that's stuck with me over the years. I see myself as a devourer of books since I finish them so fast. When I was in middle/high school my mom would buy me a new book every week. My favorite books to read are urban sci-fi/fantasy/paranormal. Some of my favorite authors include: Laurell K Hamilton, Kelly Armstrong, Patricia Briggs, Karen Chance, and Kim Harrison. I try not to limit myself and read things outside my comfort zone, but sometimes it's hard to get into other things.

 Salutations,
Salutations,My name is Nancy and I just joined this group today after catching a bit of the Kushiel's Dart discussion while procrastinating (I should have been studying Organic Chemistry II). I decided I would watch the discussion in its entirety, since it's one of my absolute favorite series, when I finished the class. I just took the final. =) I've read sci-fi, fantasy, romance, and mystery books since I was a kid. I got into paranormal with the Merry Gentry series about ten years ago then switched to the Anita Blake series, and then anything I could get my hands on. I converted my good friend, Rhonda, who now runs www.vampireromancebooks.com and I write reviews for that site. She also has an erotica site now. These are free sites, just to go, read reviews, message board, etc. Basically, to meet women (and some men) who like the same type of books that you do.
I'd love to read more, but I am working on the last few pre-requesite classes to apply to Pharmacy School. So I will be studying for the PCAT soon and applying come Sept.
I have two children, a girl almost 8, and a boy almost 3. =) I've been a geek my entire life, and even went to a "public college prep boarding school (giftie school." It was the first time that I'd ever fit in and the best 2 years of my life. I look forward to reading and discussing with you ladies. =) I am in Mobile, AL. Don't know if there is a local group.
Also I am working on my first novel. (I guess I'm masochistic!)
Great to meet you all!

I hope you love Kushiel's Rachel. I'm not sure that I would classify it as erotica, because it is SO much more. The book takes a while to get started because there is so much background to lay down, but once the action starts, it doesn't let up. I truly wish you the best enjoyment of this book as it is close to my heart. I encourage all of my close friends to read it and have made many converts.
=)

PS. Have you finished? Did you like it?
I am with you Rachel. You can't beat Kushiel's Dart Series. Sexy, descriptive...unique. A Dark Romantic Fantasy. I love romance but it has to have a bit of bite/saltly badness to it!

Hi everyone! My name is Valerie and just heard about VF the other day so I got Desperate Duchesses yesterday and finished it this morning to join in the discussion. :-D
Hi everyone! My name is Valerie and just heard about VF the other day so I got Desperate Duchesses yesterday and finished it this morning to join in the discussion. :-DI'm not a huge fan of romances since I find most of them are very poorly-written, but I thoroughly enjoy an intelligent romance and am always on the lookout for more (Harlequin need not apply....). I really enjoy fantasy books, and my favorite series right now is The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. Has anyone else read it? It's YA but doesn't 'talk down' like a lot of YA books do.
My husband keeps nagging me to read the Odd Thomas series by Dean Koontz, so that will probably be happening soon...
So anyway I have high hopes for the books listed in VF and trust the judgement of our wise leaders. :-) I look forward to sharing with all of you!

Welcome Valerie!

I like the Mortal Instruments quite a bit too. Holler if you want to talk YA. And welcome!
Salutations! My name is Stacie, I live in Utah and have recently revived my reading habit. My mother is an avid reader and read just about anything as far as I can tell, and I used to read some of the romance books she had when I was a teen. I am super excited to read more Sci/Fi and Fantasy based romance books. I read both the picks for this month and want to go back and read the previous books, especially Kushiel's Dart, so I will have to squeeze them in somehow.

Hello, I am Diana and am from Orange County California. I am a total book worm and have a tendency to lean towards books with strong female leads. I found Vaginal fiction from a post on Felicia Day's facebook. I have to say i just love this group so far!

Hi, I'm Angela from Huntsville,Alabama but I consider myself an honorary Texan because I married and had my two beautiful daughters out there. Now I get my Texas fix by reading cowboy smut:D I love to read all sorts of stuff. I was never a fan of romance novels until my mother-in-law turned me on to Christine Feehan's Dark Series and Prelude To A Seduction. Now I can't seem to get enough smut. I also love science fiction to the point of watching every new made for TV movie SCI-FI comes up with no matter how horrible. I've been a member of this group for a couple of weeks but just notice the Intro thread. I really look forward to make new friends, getting book recommendations, and continuing to follow Felicia Day. I'm really going to miss Eureka!!!! I don't know much about The Guild. Can someone tell me how age appropriate is it?

Hi, I'm Laura from Birmingham, Alabama I have been a member over on Sword and Laser for awhile (I got there by the way of Buzz Out Loud) and have read some of the posts here but had not joined until I finally watched the live hangout last night, it was fun and made me want to read the book they were wrapping up immediately so I would get everything they were saying. I have always been an avid reader and consider romance novels my guilty pleasure they are great for an afternoon read where you just want to get lost in the moment.

 Hi everyone,
Hi everyone, A little about me: I read a lot due to a long work-commute, getting through about 2 books a week. So I'm constantly searching for new and intriguing stories. I also write fanfiction in my spare time...ridiculous at my age of 25, I know. But I started at 12 and have since developed an amazingly supportive fan base that won't let me give up.
Like many people here, I just discovered Vaginal Fantasy after Felicia mentioned it was moving on her Flog. Though I am intrigued by the concept and LOVE the hangout discussions thanks to the wit of the ladies involved, I'm a little worried because the 3 or 4 romances I've read in my life were all terribly written.
I'm a little bit of a harsh critic when it comes to flow and story and just enough sex after a proper amount of build up and staged tension. Most romance novels I find move way too fast just for the sake of arriving at the inevitable "climax" ;).
I mainly joined this group to get some recommendations. I had read "Desperate Duchesses" about a year ago when Felicia promoted it on her blog and I found it to be (except for the well-research chess parts) that same unsatisfying sex-race. However, a book she recommended called "Santa Olivia" I found to be AWESOME story and writing wise. Even though the main couple ended up being two girls, I didn't mind because I needed to find out what happened!
Anyway, I'm home sick from work today and am looking forward to perusing the forums for some recommendations and chatting with all you wonderful, like-minded people. Go smut!

 Hey all
Hey allI made the mistake of clicking through to a VF hangout video after Veronica's recommendation on Sword and Laser last week. I'd just opened a half-decent Viognier and can report that the two went very well together - Vino Vaginal Fantasy if you like.
Brilliant, brilliant show - if you guys ever accidentally bump into some production values (and a post-2005 webcam for Kiala) then Oprah better start watching her Nielsens...
Have never read ANY paranormal romance etc, but am going to bide my time, watch the recommendations in the group and pick carefully for My First Time.
Cheers
Christian
PS Was so not surprised to see that Veronica has an IMAX quality webcam and a Transformer-esque mike - alpha geek central!
 Greetings,
Greetings,Call me Fallen, it's along story... I'm book whore and proud of it. Loves me some paranormal romance and urban fantasy. I'm new to goodreads and looking for friends so if you send me a request it will be approved. I'm also a very timid writer but I've never published or posted anything for review. Becoming a member of this group will hopefully build my courage enough to leak a short story or something. I'll be looking for honest criticism ;D
so many people. So many vaginas to explore. Couldn't help myself. I'm Azure, one of those reader writer nuts, like one obsession isn't enough. I love to write and read erotic romance, although it's much funner to read sex than it is to write it!

I love to write and read erotic romance, although it's much funner to read sex than it is to write it! I'm currently reading The Lord Of The Underworlds Series, by Gena Showalter. Out of order no less. But oh well, I get 'em as I get 'em. I'd like to read the Dark Hunter series next, I think. Hearing a lot on that.
Apart from that, I'm a mom, wife, and writer. Not always in that order. I'm from Louisiana, so, I love creole food and hot romances. Nice to be here.
Hello. I'm Lizzie, i just turned nineteen and from New Zealand but have been working at a Polish blind school for most of this year. Its been kind of a lonely year, really rewarding but being away from home and not being able to speak Polish has been hard. The internet has been amazing as a form of escape and communication. I only recently dipped my feet into the romance genre, coming across it through Geek and Sundry. Geek and Sundry opened up an awesome community for me, so i thought i'd give the book club a try. I'm an english lit geek, so hearing people talk about books is kind of my definition of fun, but its so much better when the people talking are having fun.

Hope you get to take a look around Europe before you go home - sorry everything's so expensive!
Hi to Azure too...

However, that will change in the middle of November. =( Darned time-marching-on thing...My mom read to me a lot when I was a wee one, and I read a lot on my own when I could do so. I read a LOT as a kid, primarily fantasy, fairy tales, fiction and some sci-fi. I think my favorite book series growing up was "The Black Stallion" series by Walter Farley. I used to have a horse myself, and it seemed the thing to read. I also used to fall asleep reading Grimm and other fairy tales.
One somewhat unique thing about my history is that when I was 1 1/2 years old, I was able to speak full sentences. I guess I used to impress folks on the street, at least my mom indicated I did. =D
Well that's enough for now. If you have any questions, you know how to contact me. =) I'm pretty friendly. =D

Hi everyone! My name's Jess. I'm 25, attending college for Information Technology, and interning as tech support for the faculty at my school. I stumbled into VF on Felicia Day's youtube channel, and I've been hooked ever since. Before starting to follow this group, I never really read romance or romance-ish type books on principle. (Yes, I was one of those snobs.) After watching the VF hangouts I got my feet wet with "The Iron Duke". I'm now officially off my high-horse and down with the Vaginal Fantasy!
If it couldn't be surmised by my course of study, I am a huge nerd. I love to game when I have the time, my favorites right now are Left 4 Dead 2 and... really anything Valve has come out with... ever.
When I'm not making websites, coding applications, or planning world domination, I like to read comics both web and print. I follow Penny Arcade and The Trenches religiously and just finished devouring Buffy Season 8.
I also like to read for pleasure, as opposed to the technical writing that usually dominates my required reading. My favorite author of all time is William Gibson. Cayce Pollard is my home girl. Other books I've highly enjoyed include: American Gods, The Dresden Files series, The Bell Jar, Everything is Illuminated, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Water for Elephants (depression-era train circuses... that is all), and of course the Harry Potter series.
I'm thrilled to be a part of this awesome community!

Got love that Java :0
Hi! My nickname is CJ. I've finally joined VF after hearing about it for a while and after watching the latest video. I love to read fiction and fantasy, and am just getting into romance novels.

Okay... *deep breath* ...here it goes!
Okay... *deep breath* ...here it goes!Unlike most of you here, I don't come from a sci/fi/fantasy/gaming background. I am a long-time smut reader (read my first one when I was 13). Recently introduced to VF when a friend mentioned that Felicia had a book club. She had to explain to me who Felicia Day was! *ducks*
Big into romance, erotica, and Urban Fantasy.
As a quick backgrounder, I am Canadian, work in a high school and a bookstore, and read whenever I can.
Now, I suppose I must catch up on the Guild...

 Hello there!
Hello there!I'm Amanda and I am 26 next month, married, and have two Toy Fox Terriers (Named Doctor and Rose... I may or may not be completely obsessed with Doctor Who...).
I found VF the day after their July Hangout. My husband watches the NSFW cast and heard of the Diamond Club troll and how Veronica was reading parts of the book and sent me the link to VF. I watched it and just about died laughing! So I decided to join.
This in turn introduced me to Geek and Sundry where I found Sword and Laser, The Guild, FLOG, etc. etc. So really what this means is that Felicia Day has taken over my life. But that is fine because now I have some pretty awesome role models.
Anywho, I am in my last semester of Grad School, December is my graduation and I will be getting my MA in Library Science (So if any of you are hiring managers at an Academic Library, please give me a job! lol ;) That's how networking works right?? lol)
Alright that essay is long enough. Find me on some social sites!

Hi Amanda, I love the names of your dogs! I'm a huge Dr. Who fan too.
 Hi there,
Hi there,My name is Mercy Walker. I read many genres, but erotica has become close to my heart. I cut my teeth on Anne Rice's Exit to Eden and her Erotic Adventures of Sleeping Beauty.
I work by day at retail, but by night I shapeshift into an author of Paranormal Romance, erotica and sometimes crime fiction.
I have some novels on Kindle, and more than a few erotic short fiction collections--many are M/M, but there a few straight ones too.
Right now my current reading obsessions are Ilona Andrews, JR Ward, Patricia Briggs and Jim Butcher. I'm also obsessed with NOT reading Fifty Shades of Gray. Sorry, I tried, but after about a hundred pages, and the "hero" strapping her into a helecoptor for their first date, I just gave up.
But the story of how Fifty Shades came to be inspired me to start writing an entire erotic novel. I wanted to give it mystery and danger, some gun play, adultery, S&M, B&D, and Gay, straight and bi-sexual sex. It's like Desperate Housewives go x-rated.
As a bonus I'm posting the erotic novel, "No Safe Words Here" chapter by chapter on a first draft blog for all to read. I'd love for anyone and everyone to go take a look, read as much or as little as you want...and if you'd like to tell how you liked it--or didn't--just click on the Contact Me button and send me a line.
The blog is...

Hope to hear from you, and thank you for letting me join your group.
Hello all. 40 year old UK'er. Been reading for, well, as long as I could read. Started off many years ago with Enid Blyton and still love her books to this day.
Hello all. 40 year old UK'er. Been reading for, well, as long as I could read. Started off many years ago with Enid Blyton and still love her books to this day. My teens was filled to capacity by Stephen King, James Herbert, Dean R Koontz and Clive Barker. I must admit I was shit scared reading most of these books and seeing as I only really read at night this probably wasn't such a good idea for my over imaginative brain. Hell it took me over a year to read 'It' and that was only because I had to keep hiding it under my bed (never liked clowns anyway!).
After that I moved on to Harold Robbins, well what respectful 15 year old girl wouldn't?
Then at the age of around 19 I hit Fantasy and never left, I tried Asimov and 'that' genre, but we never got on. In the middle I had a go at Crime /Detective type novels and in the last year have found the Jack Reacher market (Tom Cruise, really?) but fantasy really is where my passion is. Read most of Robin Hobb, just really the Fools story to catch up on. I am struggling really hard with the Wheel of Time series, but I will not be defeated.
Chat to me if you like I don't mind.
Cxx
Erm... Hi. Bit unsure what to say.
Erm... Hi. Bit unsure what to say.I'm a 56 year old Australian geekess and have been engaged for 15 years (long story).
Still play board games, drive too fast, wear geeky clothes and have an absurdly large Nerf gun collection. Which Ben and I use. We don't have a cat. Yet. Mwaaaahhhh.
Started reading very early.
When kids were struggling through See Dick Run, I was reading the newspaper out loud for my grandad.
In the 60's. Sheesh. Makes me feel old.
Anyway, did a lot of reading in the 70's and 80's - mainly SciFi.
Mainly because of the lack of friends I guess.
(We moved around a lot - military and all that)
90's up till now has been almost exclusively technical manuals.
Seriously sad.
Anyway, stumbled on a Felicia Day video mentioning this site a few weeks ago, so I decided to have a go at reading something that would get my heart rate up.
I've read 5 random books since end of July, so I'm not doing too bad I guess.
It worked.
And Ben appears happy with the results... :-)
Hi, I'm Bitchie, er Dana. I'm 38 years old, married with 3 kids. I have been a reader my entire life, and my Kindle is my most constant companion. My son even jokes that if there were a fire, I'd grab the Kindle before anything else, even the kids.

I stumbled onto this group because it was mentioned in another group.
I read pretty much all types of romance, with some urban fantasy thrown in. If there isn't sex or at least sexual tension, I'm usually not interested(Jim Butcher is my exception to that rule). Most recently, I've been reading lots of M/M romance, which, yeah, no vaginas in there, but I still keep up with my regular smut too!
Hmm meaby I should introduce myself too :).
Hmm meaby I should introduce myself too :). So HELLO, my name is Konrad and I'm 22 year IT student from Poland. My biggest passion are games, but not only playing them. I know history of video games, I know how games are build or what makes them so great fun :). Also I'm a reader. Mostly fantasy and horror books. I love Stephen Kings writings, but few weeks ago I also discovered Jack Ketchum :). In fantasy area, right now I, mostly, prefer polish fantasy, but I'm also trying to catch up with Pratchett.
I discovered VF by following Felicias Twitter, Facebook and G+... aaaaaand it's NOT a stalking... NOT AT ALL :).
I haven't read any books discussed here, but it's because I don't have e-reader and this books are hard to get in Poland (plus I'm a student... in Poland... seriously sometimes I have to hunt to survive :P).
However, I found that there are so many gamers in this group and that cheers me up :).
