Laura | 131 comments I just finished Rock Chick (Rock Chick, #1) by Kristen Ashley and liked it!

Pausing that series to read The Duke's Perfect Wife (Highland Pleasures, #4) by Jennifer Ashley which just came out this week. Have been waiting forever for this one!

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments started Elizabeth's Wolf (Breeds, #3) by Lora Leigh . i like my lora leigh. was glad i found it at the library.
i'm almost done with Archangel's Kiss (Guild Hunter, #2) by Nalini Singh . it taken me a while to finish this one. i didn't find it as enjoyable as the first novel in the series. i want to read the Psy-Changeling series and just hope i'll like it better.

message 353: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I love the Psy-Changeling series but have no interest whatsover to continue reading the Guild Hunter series. I was just 'meh' on the first book.

message 354: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I agree with you, DG. I've read the first 2 Guild Hunters and that was enough. I still need to be caught up with the Psy-Changeling but I haven't been in a PNR mood lately.

I'm currently reading Good Girls Don't (Donovan Brothers Brewery, #1) by Victoria Dahl which is light and funny. I'm still searching for the next good contemporary. I haven't had any luck :(

message 355: by Domino (aka Meme) (new)

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments i thought the first book in the Guild Hunter series had its good moments and saw i gave it 4stars (what!). this second book just isn't doing it for me. i know i heard Dmitri and Illuim have their own books and i'd like to read theirs, but i'm not in any rush to get to them. not if they are like this second book.
i'll give Psy-Changeling a chance. thanks D.G.

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments Kay have u read Lisa Kleypas' Travises trilogy?

message 357: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Domino (aka Meme) wrote: "Kay have u read Lisa Kleypas' Travises trilogy?"

Yes!! It's one of my faves! I'm looking for something similar to it...like emotionally moving but HAWT at the same time.

message 358: by D.G. (new)

D.G. The first 3 books in the Psy-Changeling series are very PNR...then in book 4, the bigger story arc begins and that has been carried out successfully throughout the rest of the books. In that sense, the series has a UF feel even though you have a new couple in every book.

I also love how only the really necessary past couples show up in following books...there are no constant cameo appearances by everybody.

Need to read this! These are contemporary right?

I've only read one Shelley Laurentsen and it wasn't my thing, so I would say that Playing for Keeps and the Pride Series are very different. IMO

Marcella, that's a beautiful cover - wow! haha!

Regina, You could say that Revolutionary Road is very controversial. It kept our book club talking and drinking for a long while.

message 361: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Yes, Laura. Those are contemporaries. Lisa Kleypas is the reason why I started reading more of this genre!

message 362: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) D.G. ~Shameless Hussy~ wrote: "I love the Psy-Changeling series but have no interest whatsover to continue reading the Guild Hunter series. I was just 'meh' on the first book."

Me too as far as the Guild series.

I doubt I'll move on past book 1 either. I liked it okay but didn't have any burning need to continue.

Regina, I haven't read any Laurenston so I couldn't tell you. Is that the same author who uses G.A. Aiken as another name? Because I read the first Dragon Kin book and didn't find it nearly as amusing as everyone else seemed to. It just barely got a 3 star from me for being "okay enough."

Playing for Keeps had a fairly average story but it was worth the read mainly for Jason's character. He was funny and highly entertaining.

message 364: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Stacia I believe it is the same. Okay, good to know! Thanks ladies!

message 365: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) While I wait for my JR Ward to come in at the library, and Karen Marie Moning to publish her Dani series, I decided to reread Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie That book makes me happy.

message 366: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Leea...I wish you would have with the Pride series. Each book got better and better. I just fell in love with the characters. Plus the story got real interesting.

message 367: by Domino (aka Meme) (new)

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments for the contemporary lovers Lori Foster has a great duo called the Brava Brothers. bk1 is Too Much Temptation (Brava Brothers, #1) by Lori Foster and bk2 is Never Too Much (Brava Brothers, #2) by Lori Foster . the first book was my fav cause the lead chick had this low sefl esteem and the guy really loved her unconditionally and she him. there is also some great love scenes as well. Lori Foster has some other good contemporaries as well one Murphy's Law (Law, #2) by Lori Foster , but it's the second in the series.
also i read this really good country/contemporary novel not to long ago called Make Mine a Bad Boy (Deep in the Heart of Texas, #2) by Katie Lane . i just happened to pick this up from the library. it's the 2nd in a series too. i haven't read the first but wasn't lost at all. the premise is this beauty queen from this small town returns home after not making it in the city. everyone had high hopes for her. she gets involved with this guy she used to despise in high school and is refusing to be honest with him. it had some really funny parts and some endearing side characters. it's almost like Hope Floats with Sandra Bullock. really good.

definitely a must read contemporary trilogy Laura. i listened to the trilogy and would sit in my car for hours or make up trips to listen =)

message 369: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) It is an amazing series! And the audio is fabulous!

message 370: by Leea (last edited Apr 06, 2012 07:04PM) (new)

Leea I still need to read a Lori Foster book, I have a few ebooks already.

I just finished The Defiant Hero (Troubleshooters, #2) by Suzanne Brockmann and I really liked it. I can see that the series is building and I really can't wait for Alyssa Locke and Sam's story... What book is that?

Wendy, When do you want to read Over the Edge (Troubleshooters, #3) by Suzanne Brockmann ??

I don't really know what to read next, I've been reading so many contep. romance but I think that's because i'm really busy and they are light easy to read and fun.

I thought this was funny and wanted to share. I told my boys that if they wanted something they should say, "Please sweet beautiful Mama" well now Ethan has started saying, "Please, my queen" Haha! He's joking but it's just funny to hear him say it with this wicked smile on his face.

message 371: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Thanks, Domino. I haven't read anything from Lori Foster yet. I will def check out some of her books.

Leea....your boys are so cute!! I would love for any of the men or boys in my fam to call me queen! :)

message 372: by Domino (aka Meme) (new)

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments Leea, how cute! ur boys have such a sense of humor. it sounds as if u have a great time with them. that's great!

glad to help ladies. i hope u guys enjoy Lori Foster =)

message 373: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Who are some of your fav racy authors? I've read JR Ward, Stephanie Laurens, JD Robb (And all personas), Amanda Quick (ditto), Julia London, Lori Foster, Lisa Kleypas - I need a new fix. Regency, contemporary - doesn't matter.

message 374: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments If you are looking for racy I highly recommend reading books by Dana Marie Bell. She's awesome!

message 375: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Leea that is super sweet!

Thanks!

message 377: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) These are novellas, I highly recommend them -- they are racy, explicit but also have a sweet and steady romance building:

Damaged Goods by Lauren Gallagher Hearts in Darkness by Laura Kaye Willing Victim by Cara McKenna

message 378: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Your welcome Tellulah!

message 379: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I agree about Damaged Goods. I really liked that.

I finished Good Girls Don't (Donovan Brothers Brewery, #1) by Victoria Dahl which was ok. Now, I'm reading Mistress of Rome by Kate Quinn .

message 380: by Leea (new)

Leea I second Regina's picks - all hot :)

I just finished Holly Lane (Destiny, #4) by Toni Blake and it was good. I just need a break from these small town perfect relationships lol!

No clue what to read next, plus I'm in the car, just finished my book so it's going to have to be something already on my reader.

Here are my choices:
Mr. Perfect by Linda Howard Mind Games (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #1) by Carolyn Crane The Summoning (Darkest Powers, #1) by Kelley Armstrong

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I've heard Mind Games is good. I've also heard good things about Mr. Perfect from a few people but someone here (don't remember who?) didn't like it I think. Summoning wasn't that exciting (for me. I know some people love the series). It reads on the younger end of YA.

message 382: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) You cannot go wrong with the Disillusionist trilogy. Funny, sexy, quirky, exciting - -and the author is a huge sweetie.

message 383: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Regina wrote: "You cannot go wrong with the Disillusionist trilogy. Funny, sexy, quirky, exciting - -and the author is a huge sweetie."

Exactly! I love Disillusionists! It's very unique!

message 384: by Leea (new)

Leea Well, I think i'll start Mind Games... I was also looking at Unholy Ghosts. Which one is better?

message 385: by Mimi (new)

Mimi Smith | 94 comments So, I've been gone a while(know you missed me :P), and I've read...

How to Kill a Rock Star by Tiffanie DeBartolo , which was AWESOME. Loved it!
Born to Darkness (Fighting Destiny, #1) by Suzanne Brockmann which was ok. Good start to the series, but too many things going on.
The Duke's Perfect Wife (Highland Pleasures, #4) by Jennifer Ashley About That Night (FBI / US Attorney, #3) by Julie James which were, of course, great.
The Reluctant Marquess by Maggi Andersen , my first InDTale read! It was meh, but I was still excited.
Bear Meets Girl (Pride, #7) by Shelly Laurenston which was all right. I liked the characters but the story was too short and... missing something.
I STILL haven't got around to reading Sacrificial Magic (Downside Ghosts, #4) by Stacia Kane , and right now for me it's An Affair with Mr. Kennedy (The Gentlemen of Scotland Yard, #1) by Jillian Stone .

I may have missed something. Probably. *sigh*

message 386: by Mimi (new)

Mimi Smith | 94 comments And Leea, I preferred Unholy Ghosts

message 387: by [deleted user] (new)

How to Kill a Rock Star by Tiffanie DeBartolo that looks good, I have never heard of it. Also what is "Disillusionist trilogy", who is the author? Almost finished The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins and need to find a next book.

message 388: by D.G. (last edited Apr 08, 2012 07:09AM) (new)

D.G. I finished All Jacked Up by Lorelei James . Thanks for lending it to me, Regina!

It was good although there were a few eye-rolling moments. And I'm getting more and more confused with the characters. There are over 20 children and like a gazillion male cousins so it's difficult to keep them all straight!

Now I'm thinking of reading either Grimspace (Sirantha Jax, #1) by Ann Aguirre or Fade to Black (Black CATs, #1) by Leslie Parrish which are two print books I got from the library and they both fit the bingo shelf for this week.

message 389: by Mimi (last edited Apr 08, 2012 07:15AM) (new)

Mimi Smith | 94 comments I love Leslie Parish's writing. One of better suspense writers. if you start Grimspace do let me know what you think of it. I've been thinking of starting it for a while now.

message 390: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Leea, it depends on what you want. Downside Ghosts is more intense that Disillusionists. Disilusionists is lighter and funner. In the end, I think Downside Ghosts stuck with me more, but I think both are really good -- they are really really different.

Cindy -- the first in the series is Mind Games (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #1) by Carolyn Crane by Carolyn Crane

@ Mimi and Cindy -- How to Kill is awesome.

@ Mimi -- I haven't read your review of Born to Darkness, but your one sentence sums up how I feel but I will read the next one. Ultimately, I ended up skimming alot and I lost my interest in the book around the middle half.

DG lol, I do that alot in those books!

message 391: by Leea (new)

Leea Mimi you're back!! We've missed you :)

How to Kill a Rock Star is an awesome book. How did you feel about the ending?

Cindy, how are you liking the Hunger Games? Have you seen the movie?

D.G, I was getting confused and I've only read the first 5, I think. Plus everyones name starts with a T. I haven't been reading much Erotica because it's got to be really good. Although, sometimes you just need a book like the Rough Riders Series to reset your reading rut.

message 392: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) T or K -- lol. I was confused too.

message 393: by Leea (new)

Leea I'm sticking with Mind Games it's already on my Nook and i'm being lazy. Plus I don't want anything intense.

If you're celebrating, Have a great Easter!

message 394: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) You will have fun with it Leea! Enjoy your Easter, I am off to my parents'.

message 395: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Happy Easter everyone!

message 396: by Mimi (new)

Mimi Smith | 94 comments @Regina, I did write a review, but that sums it up, too. There are aqlways side plots, but there was too much here. The two guys were together in about two pages, and the main heroine started to annoy me at some point with YOU DON'T LOVE ME, IT'S MY POWER yadda, yadda. The only thing that kind of went better than I expected was the plot about Bach, I was totally afraid that would be a HEA too. Yeah, right.

I agree about the Downside/Disillusionists comparison.

message 397: by Leea (new)

Leea Have fun Regina and Wendy F. The boys woke up yelling "the Easter bunny is coming... I'm so excited." then they tackled us in bed. lol! We're going to my moms for lunch and an egg hunt. My husband and I made a treasure map this year... should be fun!

message 398: by Mimi (new)

Mimi Smith | 94 comments @Leea How to Kill... The ending was a bit over the top. Highly unbelievable and a bit too fast after all the angst, but I was so happy for them I was Whateva.

message 399: by Leea (new)

Leea I felt the same, thus my 4 star rating. Everything leading up to it was wonderful.

message 400: by Mimi (new)

Mimi Smith | 94 comments Yeah, it was. I did give it 5 stars, despite that and that decision of her that was sooo moronic. On the whole the book was on the good side of intense and gripping...
