DG I grew up in a small town (not as small as Virgin River) but still small (15k people). It wasn't ideal for me, but I still love the ideal!

I feel like this is an omen and I should start the next book :) I love how Carr writes these characters, relationships, motherhood, and males :)

It's been a super busy day. My dad or as the boys call him Papa is here and we just organized our families season tickets all 75 games. Ugh! So, I hope to start Playing for Keeps tonight.

Leea Wendy F wrote: "Leea, are you around? When are you thinking we should start Defiant Hero?"

I'm here :)

message 304: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) LOL! Good thing we already talked about it in the other thread. ;)

message 305: by Leea (new)

Leea Yep :)

message 306: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I finished Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah which is the first book I've read from this author. I wouldn't say it's a romance novel....more like women's fiction. I liked it enough to read more from this author but it was way too emotional at times.

I need something light now so I'll start About That Night (FBI, # 3) by Julie James tonight. It just released today and I can't wait to read it.

message 307: by Julie (new)

Julie (gpangel) Can't wait to hear about this one. It sounds good.Kay wrote: "I finished Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah which is the first book I've read from this author. I wouldn't say it's a romance novel....more like women's fiction. I liked it enough to read more from..."

message 308: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Hey ladies...does any of you own All Jacked Up and can loan it to me in a few days? I was going to buy it but as they are all lendable, I thought I should check around first!

message 309: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I have it -- should I use the email address that I have for you? Did you want it now?

message 310: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I finished Forbidden Falls (Virgin River, #9) by Robyn Carr and it may be one of my favorites in the series!!! I need to write up a review but won't be able until the weekend. I just checked and I only have 5 more Virgin River Novels to read (including the new release coming out this month) and two shorts. :(

For audio I started Snow Blind by P.J. Tracy it is only about 5 hours, so I will be done soon and then move on to the next Virgin River Angel's Peak (Virgin River, #10) by Robyn Carr

message 311: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Glad your son is ok Regina!

I am finishing up Artistic Vision (Gray Court, #3) by Dana Marie Bell . This has become one of my favorite series.

For you ladies who haven't read this author before, you are missing out.

message 312: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Regina wrote: "I have it -- should I use the email address that I have for you? Did you want it now?"

Oh thanks, Regina! But let's wait a few days until I'm almost done with the book I'm reading now so I can start it right away.

And yes, you can use that email address. :)

Thanks!

message 314: by Leea (new)

Leea Hey Marcella :)

I'll have to check that book out.

message 315: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Hey Leea! Her books are amazingly good.

message 316: by Leea (new)

Leea Good afternoon everyone :)

I just finished Playing for Keeps (A Neighbor from Hell, #1) by R.L. Mathewson and it was refreshing, funny and chaulked full of yummy food. haha!

Now i'm going to start The Defiant Hero (Troubleshooters, #2) by Suzanne Brockmann to continue my buddy read with Wendy (woot woot!) and I can't wait to get to book 3, everyone says it's really good.

Off to hard boil eggs for the kids multiple parties... ha!

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments I finished Artistic Vision (Gray Court, #3) by Dana Marie Bell last night. Going to start 11/22/63 by Stephen King tonight. This is a long book, but it looks real interesting.

message 318: by Leea (new)

Leea I bought that King book for my brother in law for Christmas. I hear it's a great book :)

message 319: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments I hear the same thing Leea. I am doing it as a group read on another thread. We are taking this one slow since it is so long.

message 320: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I can't wait to read the King book! I have it for my Kindle.

message 321: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Look forward to your thoughts on it Wendy when you read it.

message 322: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I've just finished reading Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë tonight and now I'm about to start High Five (Stephanie Plum, #5) by Janet Evanovich .

message 323: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments I started Magic Slays (Kate Daniels, #5) by Ilona Andrews !

message 324: by Leea (new)

Leea I miss Kate Daniels and Curran, such a great book :)

message 325: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I finished About That Night (FBI, # 3) by Julie James and I loved it! This author doesn't write fast enough nor does she have enough books for me to read.

I want to read another contemporary. I think this is the mood I'm in. Off to search for another....

message 326: by Leea (new)

Leea Ha! I can't wait to read her work.

message 327: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Leea wrote: "Ha! I can't wait to read her work."

Just to warn you, her earlier works doesn't have much sex or none at all...but the romance is sweet. She also writes sexual tension very well.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I need to possibly give Julie James another shot. The one book I tried of hers bored me, but my bias against corporate-world romances probably turned me off before I gave the book an honest chance. So many people like her as an author that it makes me curious enough to think I should try again with an open mind.

Finished Young Love Murder by April Brookshire and never has a book made me say WTF like this one did.

Also finished Playing for Keeps (A Neighbor from Hell, #1) by R.L. Mathewson and it was a lot of fun. I never would have picked it up based on the cover but a few friends loved it so I had to see what the fuss was about.

message 329: by Laura (new)

Laura | 131 comments I just finished The Mane Squeeze (Pride, #4) by Shelly Laurenston . Having a hard time getting through this series for some reason.

Now reading Rock Chick (Rock Chick, #1) by Kristen Ashley and liking it!

message 330: by Leea (new)

Leea Laura, is Rock Chick as good as the Colorado Mountain Series?

I have to second Stacia's love for Playing for Keeps. It was a great read and very funny!

message 331: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I need to read Playing for Keeps. I've heard tons of good things about it.

message 332: by Julie (new)

Julie (gpangel) I am currently reading The Quickie

message 333: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Is the author of Playing for Keeps like Shelley Laurentsen? I have heard comparisons and I am not a big fan of Laurentsen's.

So #4 in the Fallen Angels series is now available for pre-order. The previous three were all $7.99 on the date of release, Rapture is $14.99!!!! For a series that is so hit or miss and hasn't really found its stride yet this is crazy. I was going to buy it but not for $14.99. Lover Reborn -- okay, that makes sense. But Rapture? Rapture (The Fallen Angels, #4) by J.R. Ward

Sorry I have been absent this week. I have had a ton of work (I still do), and preparing for my book club at my house (super stressful) -- meant I had virtually no online time.

message 334: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) So I finished Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates and I liked it, but truly upsetting -- alot to think about though.

I am returning to Snow Blind (Monkeewrench, #4) by P.J. Tracy in audio. I am about 50% in. And I am reading Wool 3 Casting Off by Hugh Howey Gardens of the Moon (Malazan Book of the Fallen, #1) by Steven Erikson

message 335: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Thanks Marcella! We got the stitches out today. He is doing good.

message 336: by Marcella (last edited Apr 06, 2012 09:14AM) (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Good to hear Regina. I don't have kids myself but when one of my nieces or nephews get hurt I freak the freak out. I don't know how parents do it. I think I would keep my kids in a bubble.

I finished reading A Tall, Dark, Cowboy by Mackenzie McKade . It was a great quick read. The characters were likable and the story was entertaining. The cover didn't hurt either. WOWZA!!!

I am still reading 11/22/63 by Stephen King .

I am trying hard to keep up with my goal for this year. I am way behind.

message 337: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Umm, that cover is beyond delicious.

message 338: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Right! If that cover isn't motivation enough to read a book, then I am not sure what is. And the character based on the guy on the cover sure does him justice.

message 339: by D.G. (last edited Apr 06, 2012 11:38AM) (new)

D.G. I wrote a scathing review about Where Have all the Cowboys Gone? (Turner Brothers, #1) by Kate Pearce in another site and the author contacted me about it! She was so nice about it but I stand by what I wrote, LOL!

ETA: Actually, it wasn't A Tall, Dark, Cowboy by Mackenzie McKade but Where Have all the Cowboys Gone? (Turner Brothers, #1) by Kate Pearce .

message 340: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I should look for it and put it here.

message 341: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments I am curious what you wrote D.G. I loved it. It wasn't an award winning book, but it kept me entertained.

message 342: by D.G. (new)

D.G. You're right about Rapture (The Fallen Angels, #4) by J.R. Ward , Regina. 14.99 sounds crazy.

I've been getting the audios from the library because I have the hots for the narrator and I may get it from Audible if my library doesn't have it when it comes out. But I'd never buy it in ebook/print at the price.

message 343: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I agree completely! The narrator is amazing! I should have listened to #3. I am going to buy the audio or get the audio version form the library at release date.

I am thrilled that Ward is hitting a level where the publisher wants to release her books in hardcover. I just don't think the Fallen Angels is there yet. But I could be wrong. I do love the brothers though! And mainly, I guess I am ticked b/c I wanted to buy it. LOL.

message 344: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Marcella wrote: "I am curious what you wrote D.G. I loved it. It wasn't an award winning book, but it kept me entertained."

LOL, Marcella. It was another book I was referring to with a similar cover. :)

message 345: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Those cowboy books lookg similar!

message 346: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Regina! Can you lend me All Jacked Up today? I'm almost done with The Thief so should be able to start it right away.

message 347: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Yup. I will do it right now.

message 348: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Also, I have the majority of them. I can contiue to lend them.

message 349: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Awesome, thanks!

Laura | 131 comments D.G. ~Shameless Hussy~ wrote: "I need to read Playing for Keeps. I've heard tons of good things about it."

Very funny!! It's a completely light book though, nothing to be taken seriously. Kind of like watching a romantic comedy that has a lot of silliness to it :)
