Well first of all, I'm so sorry for your loss, Leea.Secondly, not sure. I love my kindle. LOVE IT. But given the opportunity(opportunity=money), I would like to buy a Nook too.

Sorry Leea. My old nook looked the same but I didn't drop it. Well, I have the Nook Tablet which took a minute to get use to b/c I loved the e-ink before. But I like it now esp the fact that I don't need a night light anymore. I bought my hubby a kindle touch which he used for a month but then decided to get the Nook touch b/c of the buttons on the side to turn the page. I do feel like the menu on the kindle touch is a bit confusing but maybe it's b/c I don't use it on a daily basis. Hopefully, you'll get a chance to play around w a few before you decide on a new reader. BTW, did you buy the warranty for your Nook?
Pfffttt...whatever. Leea dropped that thing on purpose.My thought would be to get a refurb cheapie to tide you over until one of the new eink glow readers is released, whichever is currently the best deal.
If you don't want to wait, I'd say just go Kindle. Amazon seems to get some freebies that B&N doesn't.
I still like my newer Nook better for ease of function over my Kindle but I'm glad that I bought the Kindle.
It's sad but if my husband would let me, I'd probably own both of the upcoming glow readers from b&n and amazon.
Carina, you might. It's got some slightly annoying similarities to Fifty but the writing is more polished and the guy isn't quite as screwed up. Hard to tell. Everyone else seems to love the book. Maybe I'm the one who's off.
I forgot about the e-ink glow readers. When are they releasing those? I might be alble to Similarities like Knight had? Cause I didn't find Knight that similar to Fifty, which was good. Knight was its own set of messed up, haha.

The guy in BTY had a previous history of abuse and some psychological issues.
I see the e-ink glow videos and all I keep thinking is "Oooooo, shiny...." haha!Wait, didn't Stacia post a refurbished deal for a Nook the other day? Maybe that's something that you'll like, since you already know your way aroud the Nook and everything.
I do know that if anything happened to my Kinldle, God forbid, I would get another Kindle first and foremost. Yes, I would like to get another type of e-reader, but my Kindle means too much to me. Its my baby.

Stacia, is the Kindle harder to use than Nook? I need the facts lady :) I'm holding back... I almost ran up to Target on a whim to buy a Kindle. lol!
See that's the thing. The Kindle is easy to use. The navigation is just different. I'm just so used to my Nook color now in terms of locating quotes and taking notes. If I need to take a note, I push the menu, bookmark/highlight my page, then make a note. When I push the menu again, the list comes up for my bookmarks and notes right there for the book I'm currently reading. On my Kindle, I have to go searching for my notes. It takes about 3 steps to get to them and I get confused where to find them individually for each book because they seem to be in a folder with quotes from other books. I still haven't really figured out how to isolate individual quotes for the book I'm on. But that's just me being SO used to using my Nook that it's been such an adjustment to switch. If I used my Kindle more often, I'm sure it would be fine. I just tend to reach more for the reader I'm already familiar with.
The one thing that is awesome about my Kindle touch is that it's SO tiny and SO light. If I don't have a cover on it, I feel like I'm holding air.
Honestly, it depends on what you want out of your company. Amazon is probably easier to deal with in terms of customer service and they have more freebies/deals but I don't ever need to deal with customer service and rarely read those freebies, so it's moot for me.
I ended up purchasing a Kindle this last time because I figured that Amazon isn't going out of business any time soon. Who knows what will happen to B&N if the brick and mortar stores ever close.
Target has the Nook Touch for $79 right now... I can't decided. Guess i'll sleep on it :)
Who knows what will happen to B&N if the brick and mortar stores ever close. Yesterday, Microsoft invested 300 million dollars in a venture with B&N to form a new company out of their ebook and college textbook business. B&N's stock went up like 70%.
I finished The Origin of Species and damn, I'm amazed I could enjoy a science book so much when my science education was so bad. I give all the kudos to Mr. Darwin who could put such complex ideas in a clear and sometimes even poetic language and to Mr. Dawkins's narration which was superb.I've bookmarked half the book so I'm planning to write a review.
I'm late to the convo, but I love my Kindle. not a day goes by that I regret it or wish I had a Nook. So, I will always say get Kindle. (I'm an amazon shopper for ALL of my media purchases though.)My daughter wants the Nook for christmas.

Target! I have one of those universal USB plus chargers. I just thought it was strange. Oh, I could use the one from my Nook - Duh! I checked out the Kindle Fire - it's awesome! I just can't read for an extended length of time on a back lit screen. I loaded

Back when I got my Kindle 3 they still came with a USB converter to wall charge it. However my friend ordered the newer Kindle from Amazon (without the keyboard, but not touch) from Amazon and it didn't come with the converter anymore. So I'm guessing they aren't including them. But, I use my USB converter for my iPhone, Leea, if I can't find my Amazon one. That works too.
I'm reading Her Ladyship's Companion and it has some really weird parts. I'm a third of the way in and I don't know why the hero is a prostitute and I know nothing about the heroine's marriage besides knowing that the husband has her exiled in Scotland and that he's "bad." Also, they are sort of pretending he hasn't been hired for her pleasure - which I assume is the way most women of the time would handle the situation - but I wish their thoughts would be more straight forward.Also, I don't know why she's hung up on him all of a sudden when they haven't even shared anything meaningful. She just seems like a REALLY horny woman and that any penis would do.

and it was the best one so far. I was laughing so hard at some of the comments. In the beginning, the main character is getting her butt groped by a guy she is on a date with and she says something like -- And I bet it would feel real fine except that the spanx I am wearing to make my butt look smooth and my waist look flat cut off circulation 25 minutes ago in the area of my ass. So instead of feeling the Sherriff's fine large hands on my ass, I only fee this weird tingling sensation. LOL!!!I have my door closed and have been watching the Sons of Anarchy instead of listening to an audio book (since last night after 5pm and today). I am doing some admin stuff today and last night so it fits well.

Hi everyone, I'm new to Goodreads. But I had to share this book that I just finished. And wow was it great. On the Island I was blown away by the story. It was gripping and incredibly romantic. Never would have thought I'd like it from the description, but once I read a few chapters I was hooked.

Hi Kay. I love reading others' recs on books. Helps me to focus on books that I know I'll enjoy in the incredibly limited amt of time I have to read. In fact, I should have been (and should be) studying all day today instead of consuming On the Island! I'm sure my law school grades may suffer. But seriously, the brain rest provided by a good book is simply priceless!
Well, who needs to study when you can read a good book instead? Hahha....j/k. Good books are definitely priceless.
I'm 1/4 in Divergent and I'm really liking it. The factions were a bit confusing at first but I'm getting the hang of it. I just can't read fast enough.

Insurgent has been pretty decent so far. I have a huge crush on Four. There's something about him...

"If you do, you should pick up the abridged version by Richard Dawkins - he cut out some parts regarding Genetics that Mr. Darwin didn't get right but everything about the theory of Natural Selection is there. The audiobook is also narrated by Dawkins and he does an amazing job (you could tell he's probably read this book a million times and knows it like the back of his hand.)
It's not a book to just read in one sitting (at least for me it wasn't) but I took it slowly and I was able to enjoy it a lot. It made me think a lot about our place in the world and how we think we are outside the system but this book gives you a perspective of millions of years. I was amazed at Darwin's insight. Everything is explained logically (of course) with tons of examples so it's as not as if you are left dangling wondering what he meant. He also writes beautifully so the prose is not dry at all.

I want to read On The Island too.I started Second Hand Heart last night and only read until about 5 0r 6%, but its already bugging me. Its written in a 'journal' style, which isn't my favorite type, and the dialogue is just....I'm not sure, I'm just not enjoying it. =/

It's a wonder I can read and write (and I was the valedictorian of my class so it wasn't that I was a bad student.)
I just realized that last month I read TWO books that have been on my TBR since 2008. I'm feeling very accomplished. ;)
In a way it was the same for me -- I went to a poor rural high school and middle school. Not much enlightening going on there. The version you listened to is only $6.95 at audible, so I put it on my wish list.

So here is the questions... What should I buy? Nook or Kindle?
I think i'm going to buy a refurbished one, whichever one I choose because I can't really spend the money right now but the thought of not reading is killing me.
