Alex or Julian???

Maybe it's because she wrote more of Julian's growth with Lena and developed their relationship more, or because he did everything to be with her, or because Julian is more fresh in my mind than Alex is but I'm kind of leaning toward Julian, but I'm not. It felt like a lot of the time with Alex was 'we spent two months together planning' etc etc. That might just be what I remember of it, but it felt like she went a lot more into Julian's life than Alex's. But then I sit there and remember Alex riding in on his motorcycle and saving her, and Alex in the ocean telling her he's an invalid. The notes he left her with the Governor. Reading her poetry. aisfhsihgsokdgnhsdkgh
Usually there's some obvious choice for me but not this time. I'm really, really torn. ;_;

AGREED. Kinda, still completely split but that's the reason I am split.

You just don't go back to your past love after you've bonded with someone under highly stressful circumstances within a confined space for a period of time. Currently, Julian and Lena are more emotionally connected. Besides, I agree that Lena and Alex have both changed too much to be able to make their relationship work.

I could actually relate to Lena in DELIRIUM, and I actually cared and liked her enough in the first book! But the second... UGH! I was so pissed with her! How could she just move on so fast? And she didn't check to see if he was alive when she had the chance! What kind of love is that?

Exactly she just ASSUMED Alex was dead didn't even bother to verify it. Like when she was looking at the prison records she didn't even bother to look for Alex's name. >:( I hope she redeems herself in Requiem ha-ha

They are not emotionally connected they simply bonded over their loses and called it "love"
"I love you and they cannot take it." Remember that?
Lena said that to Alex at the end of Delirium showing that she will alway LOVE him no matter what. Alex and Lena also said I love you to each other.
Julian and Lena never said I love you to each other. All Julian said was, "I think you gave me the deilira"
Alex and Lena= love
Lena and Julian= really strong feelings

Also I don't think Lena recovered "too fast" either. We're talking about the government that viewed deliria (love) as a disease, if Alex was captured by the anti-deliria government and seeing that he was bloody and shot in the chest in the end of the first novel, I couldn't blame Lena for thinking Alex was dead or tortured to death. Also, she's not Katniss Everdeen with balls of steel either, she's cowardly and still fears what the government in their world are capable of doing to deterrents so don't be too agitated that she didn't decide to go back to "look for Alex" since she was completely powerless on her own. Her bravery improved only AFTER her experience in the WILDS. Prior to that, she was petrified about everything "on the other side." Don't make it sound as if returning to the that place and to the Crypts was the easiest thing to do.
At this point, I don't care anymore, she can end up with either and I'd still be satisfied because both books were good. I don't read a series just because I support a certain shipping and drop it and abhor it entirely just because my shipping didn't make it through.

That seems like a completely logical conclusion considering Requiem is associated with death and mourning so...
Grrr this wait is killing me! lol

Bonding over losses will grow into love with time. Really strong feelings build a foundation for a lasting relationship. Both Lena and Julian are alike in the sense that they both grew up fearing their government, so they understand each others' fears. Not just that, they built a comradeship when they were kidnapped, and this won't go away easily. Whereas for a year, Lena has been steeling herself to move on from Alex.
Whoever she ends up with in the last installment, I won't mind much - Both Alex and Julian are equally likable characters. Just that, I guess I'm rooting for Julian because I like his quiet strength and confidence.

You and me both, sista. Honestly, when I first read about the prison's book, I was like, "She can find out if Alex's alive! C'mon stupid? What ya waiting for?"

Julian and Lena's relationship just isn't real to me. Lena's first love was "dead" and she was emotionally desperate and starved for affection she wanted to feel loved the way she did with Alex which is why I think she fell in love with Julian so quickly. Julian found out that his whole life was a lie he didn't even know what to believe anymore plus he never even touched a girl before.
They were both locked in a confined space for a period of time so of course feelings were going to start developing. To me Julian was more of a rebound for Lena because like I said she was in a emotionally desperate state she would have fell in love with anyone at that point.
However, Julian knows how much Alex means to Lena. Like he asked her who gave her the deliria and she was calling his name in her sleep while they were in prison together. I think in Requiem Julian is going to yeild to Alex but always be there when she needs him type guy.

Right!! She don't deserve Alex I DO! ha-ha

I agree completely with everything you said. I am also bummed that i have to wait for next year for all of my 3rd books to come out.

LOL! :P Even though I was so mad at her for her total change in personality and such, the only reason I want her with Alex is for his sake! ;P LOL, and watch it sweetie! Alex is one of my book crushes! ;)

I feel like this is gonna be like the Peeta and gale problems in Mockingjay.. Alex being Peeta and Julian being Gale.. I'm scared that Alex is gonna be different and all messed up, like Peeta. and everyones gonna be all like "oh well julian it is!" like people did with Gale in Mockingjay. and I'm gonna feel the same way I did in Mockingjay while i was holding out hope for Peeta.
But its gonna be harder this time because I like Julian too. I never really liked Gale.. but anyway i hope that Lena and Alex work it all out and end up together, and Julian finds someone to fall in love with (thats not lena)

Actually Lena deserves neither Julian or Alex. Both are too good for her. So, there. That's settled.

I dont even know why I ever even considered Julian
Alex. Only Alex
If you find yourself siding with julian,
if you are wishing for her to end up with him, if you find yourself comparing the two boys,
balancing the pros/cons of both of them...
Re-read delirium. You will change your mind
I promise

by heart breaks and bleeds for alex
you know a book is good when you want to cry for a character
you know a book is great, when you do cry

i'd choose Julian, bu I don't know what Lena will do! She's so in love with ALex and Julian and she just promised him that they would be together forever and Julian is just so AWKWARD and sweet and amazing and says weird things like "Your waist is so small" and said that he wanted to get "infected" with her and is just so sweet!!! THE WHOLE TIME I WAS LIKe "Julian, honey, if Lena doesn't pick you, we will both throw a tantrum and YOU CAN HAVE MEEE!!!!"

I did cry and was getting mad in Pandemonium when she was falling for Julian.
I personally feel sad for Julian because he is just now coming into his own and finding out who he is and he may think being with Alex can help that!
But Alex was her first and if she doesn't end up with him I will be so mad!

i know what you mean!!
when i read pandamonium i hadnt recently read delirium so i ended up liking julian and feeling for him as a charater. But when i read (or rather listened to delirium) again i fell for alex all over again
the love triangle is made to make you choose who you love more (this goes for the character as well as the reader)
and it sucks

Cool!! But I liked Gale. It's Julian I don't like and I REALLY hope that Lena picks Alex. He's just better. The reason I didn't like Peeta was because Katniss did all the saving and hero stuff so I didn't really connect with him. Alex on the other hand I loooveeee.

I can hardly stand them!

Duh.. That's because the book (like every other) was focused on the protagonist-Lena. So instead of watching Alex grow (?) we watched him help Lena grow.

I know that the book is focused on Lena, but you should still be able to watch the other main and secondary characters develop in a novel. In Harry Potter you watch Ron and Hermione grow. In The Hunger Games you watch Petta and Haymitch grow. In Percy Jackson you watch Grover, Annabeth, Thalia, and Tyson grow. Perfect examples of watching other characters grow instead of the main one.

Percy wasn't strong, Harry was semi-strong, and yes you're right Katniss was already strong. So you have a point. Well the point in Divergent by Veronica Roth is to watch Tris grow also, but you see her love intrest grow as a person and her friends. Alex was there that it. I liked him, for what he was. And the second book was focused on Lena growing also but you still saw Julian grow....

reading delirium again - alex 'gave his life' for her, introduced lena to her whole new life
julian just seems nicer though, like he'd take better care of her :)
