Alex or Julian???

However, with that being said, I find Lena behaving as a typical silly girl and her character has disappointed me in this second book.

Did you anticipate uneasiness from readers with the introduction of Julian and the love triangle element?
LO - Oh, yes, certainly. But it bothers me when people refer to it as a “love triangle.” I’d prefer that people wait until the third book to see the way that things shake out!
We are both elated and crushed by the return of Alex, given the circumstances. Is it safe to say that he’s changed just as much as Lena, if not more?
LO - Oh, absolutely. He has had some dark, dark times.
I'm team Alex all the way, and was waiting for him to come back the whole time I was reading. I tried so hard not to like Julian, knowing that Alex was still alive, but I did find myself falling for him a bit. Alex is still #1 though.
But I think that he and Lena have both changed so much since Delirium, it will be very interesting to see how they are with each other. As LO said above, I don't think she's going to go down the traditional 'love triangle' route (well we can always hope!). Can't believe we have to wait so long!!!

Why? Well, first off, I felt li..."
I completely agree with you. I wish they would not of thrown the love triangle in and just let her grow without the already present feeling of guilt into sickness. She took months to get over Alex and as much as some people would hate me to say I just cannot see her with him anymore. Alex was Lena's first love he met her before she became the person she is now. As previous people have posted the old Lena is dead and with that comes the final conclusion of lose and then splat he comes the expected but yet sickening reintroduction of Alex. As much as everyone hates Lena for moving on and thinks that she should of looked for him she did but sometimes you have to face the fact that they are not coming back and you take it and grow. She was not unfaithful to his memory she made Julian very much aware of him and explained the situation. Julian and her really are much more alike. Both grew up in this world where love is not existent never knew anything else then you find someone and you understand it is not bad. Both of them grew so much while Alex was always strong and the same. Now both Alex and Lena have changed and with that comes new people and experiences. I want her to end up with Julian they fit better but as you mentioned Lauren Oliver will pick Alex just because that is how it is done in these love triangle books.

But i think the reason i cant really decide is because Lauren Oliver (author) only gave Alex one line of speech in the book. Which makes it difficult to know if he still wants to be with Lena or not. Im interested in seeing how Julian will react to this. I really hope this year goes by fast so i can read Requiem and get the answers to all my questioins!

Ohmygosh, their love for each other in Delirium was beautiful, and he can't be replaced! I mean, Julian isn't bad either, but I'll be heartbroken if Lena chose him. STUPID CLIFFHANGER.

I was so upset when I found out that there was going to be a love triangle in this book! I felt that Alex's love was perfect and now it just feels...tainted. I like Julian but he just sounds a little wimpish to me. "thanks for saving me". "I always feel safe with you". Doesn't that sounds a little...um... Like a damsel in distress to you? NOT attractive to me. Alex can hold his own. But I hope Julian at least ends up with Raven or someone else, becaus do don't want him to end up alone either

The first book did the mother have to have a second procedure preformed after Lena's father passed away? And if so it still did not work? Is this correct? In the second book Julian's delay of the cure puts him at risk because it does not have a high success rate before and after the age of 18 years old, and because of his previous cancer? isn't this correct too? So how is it possible that Lena's mother had the surgery performed twice?
Also, I don't think that Alex had the surgery performed, he is too old.

Yes that's right about Julian, and Alex hasn't had the procedure (that we know of...). But noo, I don't think he's had it.

Like you said she fell for Julian, a guy she only knew for like two weeks, but she only knew Alex like a couple of months also....And on top of the fact that she didn't even know Alex that long either, she also in close quarters with Julian for a while, and when they escaped they were still with each other constantly. So I would say they had plenty of time to get to know each other.

I thought Julian had a tumor and seizors from a beating from his father, not brain cancer. ?

So Julian is going to die of Brain Cancer anyway. Lena should be with Alex than.

HAHAHAHA!!!! Mary you crack me up!!!! hahaha!!!!

I hope so. Because I am Team Alex, all the way.

I am just hoping that it is not a possible

I swear if Alex is cured i dont think i will finish the book, she will then probably end up with Julian and wont have to make a choice oh who to be with. So like you said an easy loop hole for Lauren Oliver.

Blah, blah, blah! I just want my HEA - with Alex ;)

The guy has BRAIN CANCER! He's gonna die. Who is going to survive brain cancer in the wilds? So glad I am keeping you amused!

On a serious note my father died of cancer and I took care of him every day. My mom died from complications from diabeties. Both parents died at home and I helped take care of them. That is my purpose in life. I am a care taker. I have older siblings who also helped out. That was our gift to our parents, to allow them to die at home surrounded by their children in comfort. We dealt with the stress with humor and love and God's guidance. Can't help my morbid and wicked sense of humor. No offense intended.

I think Julian is a sweet character, and I liked him but there was almost something too naive about him. He reminds me of a little brother that I want to protect and shelter. I know love isn't always about passion but there was literally none I could sense between Lena and Julian. I feel as though she is confusing her loneliness for love and that Julian could end up equally happy with anyone else.
That being said, it depends how much Alex has changed over time and honestly I'm not really sure Lena deserves his love a second time (I am still not overly fond of her character. Her "nobody loves or cares about me" speech from the first book still irks me).

@Gretchen, my comment was not to make you feel bad. Really We consider it a Blessing from God to have been able to give our parents the ending of their lives here on Earth the way they wanted, surounded by us and comfort. Now they r in Heaven's World. I feel good about that. Trust me when I say lots of people do not get my or my brothers and sister's crash sense of humor. That's okay because the people who truly know me do and still love me for it anyway, although my BFF says I can not talk at her furneral should she go first....AHAHAHHA!

@You r so sweet! More people need to be like you!

isn't this an exact description of lena and alex in the first book? it's the same story, reversed roles...who's to say which is better...
While I felt myself slowl-y, slowl-y falling for Julian, and eventually running togather with Lena to go and save him from the exectution, I can only say one word.
Alex.
Why would you forget about him Lena? Why? The boy who took a bullet for you. Who rescued you from being cured. Who told you your mom's alive. Who loved you...
Why would you give that away for Julian, who is affected with Cancer. Do you WANT to get hurt? He's gonna die, and where will you be? Heartbroken. with no guy whatsoever.
I like Julian, but Alex is Lena's one and only forever.

U took the words right out of my mouth! Thats exactly what i thought

Alex.
Why would you forget abou..."
But she truly truly thought Alex was dead. She didn't forget...she was pushing the hurt away. Julian was like her next best thing. Since she really thought Alex was dead, she didn't want to be sad and alone her whole life, she wanted to love again. Julian was there...and she wanted to feel better, so she caved. She didn't want to want him, but she did.
Her feelings for Alex, I think, are much deeper and stronger however. So who knows what will happen.

Anyways I'm team Alex and if Len..."
I will definitely feel the same :'( I hope the third book will not going to upset me the way it did in the first book.

Omg!! I thought I was the only one that rooted for Alex! I fell in love with him since he first came up in the book too and I don't think the relationship he had with Lena will ever compare with what she has with Julian

Lol thus was too funny ....I don't know how he will survive without medicine and stuff

I don't deny that what she has with Julian isn't precious. But once
pure-simple-now-possibly-complicated-great-torturous-but-always-great.Always- love she has with Alex? Champs me hands down.

That would be great except that Lauren Oliver really seems to go for tragedies. I'm not getting my hopes up. I'm guessing that one of them dies and it will probably be the one she ends up choosing.

I believe that Oliver writes closer to reality, in which case Lana is still very young, only 18, and yes she has been through many things which are not completely finished; the stuff with her mother, most likely people will look for Julian, and the rebellion, but she is still basically a child. I don't want or even believe most of the things I did when I was 18 and I'm only 22 now. Lana will and should change, in which case, her love interests will and should change. I like both boys and feel as though they are necessary for her growth but ultimately I don't believe either boy is "right" for her.
There is so much more to being in a relationship then just loving someone.
