Alex or Julian???

I agree! They have a great relationship. And it's good because then the author can focus more on the development of the relationship, instead of the female character having 'moments' with two guys and it's uncomfortable and unnecessary because it'll probably just drag on for a long while before Lena finally decides. It's obviously going to be Alex, anyway. (But, what do I know?)

Ugh! I had the same reaction with the quote you mentioned when I read it. I screamed and slapped my book because I was so annoyed! And their relationship felt forced because it was! Even in the book, the only reason they fell in love was because the resistance forced the two together! Aargh!

Yep. I didn't slam the book, because I was really trying to get the book done and over with to find out if Alex is alive or not! But I WAS narrowing my eyes and giving dirty glares throughout the book until the last page. ;P

Totally, because I don't want to finish reading the book but I want to see Alex show. But it's annoying the hell out of me having to read through crap that is just that and should be happening because they are in dire situations.
Me too, so Team Tam in the Wings Series because David can't and won't ever be able to protect her. I'm reading the 4th book!

I don't think I'd mind that much who she ends up with but... I do like Julian! (:

I understand the first love, not best love thing BUT.... I would be satisfied with this if they'd actually broken up. Lena and Alex could've gotten married or broken up and we wouldn't know. Of cours Lena had to accept he was gone.. she was busy!! And it had been a while anyways. I think Alex is more relatable to as a character even though i like Julian.

I've seen it too but i seriously doubt Oliver will put them together like I said Alex and Lena's love goes so much deeper and like Eesha said Alex deserves a happy ending. Plus, Julian knows how much Alex means to Lena so I think in the next book he will yeild to Alex but always love and will always be there when she needs him kind of thing.

Officially team Julian. He's someone who knows what Lena has gone through and can relate more to her journey. Plus I just kinda like the name Julian. :)

I don't know why, but Lena just acts so much like herself around Julian. Like, she doesn't have to try so hard to be someone she's not. In Delirium, I thought it was her and Alex because they were such an awesome couple, but now that I've seen her with Julian... I'm so confused.
At the end, Alex was just so different. I feel like the Crypts finally broke him and he's finally cracked. I mean come on, in the end it was obvious that Alex was angry. It could be that he's finally cracked or the girl he loves just betrayed him right in front of his eyes. From what I've read, majority of people are saying that Alex is upset because of what happened to him at the Crypts, but when I first read the ending, I thought it was because Lena was with another guy and he was just jealous. Isn't that more likely?
Until I see the same Alex from Delirium, I'm perfectly happy that Lena is with Julian. Although some good ol' love triangle-ness isn't that bad. Also, I felt that Alex's "supposed" death made him a more poetic character. That I liked him so much because he died for Lena, but now that he's alive... If Alex tells Lena that he spent time in the Crypts for her and was doing it because he loved her, then we'll see...

That's cuz in Delirium Lena was scared of everything. She wasn't sure she was supposed to love Alex but she did anyways. Doesn't that mean anything?? If I was stuck in a room with a cute sweet guy and my only other love interest was "dead" i would do the same thing. I think ALEX is the best. I couldn't connect with Julian but I liked him too.

Ikr?? I mean what a weirdo!!! I bet he watches her sleep. Creeper.

I didn't like Julian at all as I was reading this book. Lena was just lonely and needed a rebound to help her forget about Alex. They only spent a few days together and he seemed boring.

I would NEVER touch another Lauren Oliver book AGAIN. (that's a total lie)

Lena and Alex's love was built on true emotion. Lena and Julian's "feelings" (I wont even call it love yet) was just based on fear and desperation.

Yaa!! Which is why I'm not against Lena and Julian, I just prefer Lena and Alex waaaaay more and if they don't end up together I'll probably rip up the book page by horrible page.

Very well said! Sometimes, the person who taught you how to love doesn't mean that he will also be the one you will end up with. And besides, Julian is just like Lena in the first book. You can't just weigh how much you love someone based on the experiences and sacrifices and blah blah blah. And also, Lena hated Julian at first but they both grow and accept their own differences. Love makes you grow. Love makes you more matured. Lena grew when she fell in love with Alex and she also grew when she's with Julian.

Exactly. While Julian used to be naive and ignorant about pretty much everything, he can not help that because that was how he was brought up.
And even though he had a very sheltered life, his circumstances introduced him as well to the truth about love and people and control. He had moments of strength and defiance against his parents, wanting to become and grow who he wants to be. Not what his parents want. I don't think you can say that Julian was a weak character.

not that he was a weak character I just never connected with his character like I did with Alex. Julian and Lena were simply bonding over their loses and called it "love". What Lena and Alex had was real.

Well said!! That is exactly how I felt.
I am Alex all the way. Nothing against Julian, I started liking him in Pandemonium but in comparison to Alex...well, there is no comparison. Julian's naivety makes him seem weaker, less brave and always relying on Lena.
Plus, Alex would have given his life for Lena, doesn't that say enough?

amen to that sister lol Julian doesn't hold a candle up to Alex

That's true. I really like Alex's character, but I definitely don't despise Julian. I mean, it's not our fault he didn't understand what was going on. With the way he was brought up and the troubled life he had (i.e. his brother and his health), give him some slack. And now that Alex is back, everyone is going to give him sympathy and like him more? Alex and Julian went through the exact same torture growing up, so it's not fair to hate on Julian based on the pain Alex went through. They both went through some extremely painful moments in their life to get to where they are now.

As for how easily she g..."
I totally agree with this.

So Lena will always love Alex and her heart will always belong to him no matter what.
Neither Lena or Julian ever said "I love you".
All Julian said was, "I think you gave me the deliria."
Alex and Lena said I love you to each other and Lena said the line above.
Julian and Lena= really strong feelings
Alex and Lena= love

However, it seemed Julian's pains and struggles made him weaker. Alex's made him stronger.

Alex definitely acts like a stronger person, out of the two he is stronger. Julian isn't weak just because he's new to everything. He's fragile, yes, but the time spent with Lena made him stronger by standing up to his father. I also think that he announced to everyone that he had the deliria? I don't remember, but I think that's right. Announcing to the world that you've caught the deliria certainly isn't weak.

I guess... I just don't think Lena can forget everything tht Alex has done for her... I mean he was like her hero.... That doesn't just go away... I just hope Lena and Alex end up together....

AND he escaped and traveled all that way alone just to find her. If that isn't love, I don't know what is lol.

Yea!!! I almost died when I thought he died!! But then I saw there was a sequel and I'm like there is no way Lauren Oliver would kill such an awesomesauce character...

I'm not saying Julian is "weak" because like you said he did stand up to his dad and killed a guy for Lena's safety, a definate strong move and he was new to everything so I will give him a break. However, with Alex his problems and struggles fueled his determination to fight for what he believes in, which I really love about him, he doesn't just "accept" what happens to him but does something about it.
“Everyone is asleep. They've all been asleep for years. You seemed ... awake.' Alex is whispering now. He closes his eyes, opens them again.'I'm tired of sleeping.”
With Julian his problems emotionally paralyzed him to the point where he just wanted to die and didn't do anything about it. He was like, "O well I guess this is how it is going to be" and thats it.
At the end though he did defy his father and everything and also Alex was born into the wilds and Julian just wanted to please his father and that's all he knew so... it just depends how his character develops in Requim.
I like Alex because it didn't take me a whole book to fall in love with him. The moment he was on that observation dock I knew I was going to like him and as the story progressed I was head-over-heels in love with him and really connected with his character. With Julian it took me to literally the end of the book to just to somewhat like him.

LOL, I can connect with that~! <3 I was like, "OMG, he's the ONE" when Alex was first standing on the porch. And one thing that I ACTUALLY benefited from reading PANDEMONIUM was that I realized I had a really deep liking for Alex, and I just couldn't handle how someone who seemed to need the constant support of Lena replace him.

Omg!I love you for saying that! Not trying to be creepy or anything.

Same here Lena made me mad in Pandemonium because when she was looking at the prison records she didn't even bother to look for Alex's name.Alex was just attacked Lena ASSUMED he was dead but at least she could have verified it. . . but instead she just went on and started smooching up some other guy :/

Exactly! Julian relies wayyy to much on Lena. If Lena weren't there he would just "accept" everything that was about to happen to him and not do anything about it.

Thank you! That's why I prefer Alex!! ALEX FOREVERR!!

I absolutely agree. In the novel, "Delirium," there were many things BOTH Alex and Lena were keeping from each other. In Pandemonium, she revealed some secrets she couldn't tell Alex and likewise, Alex wasn't completely honest either. He kept many secrets from her as well.
Although I do feel pity for him and understand why he would be pissed at Lena for smooching another guy while he suffered and most probably was at the mercy of his tormentors in Portland. His personality may have changed but I still believe he loves Lena.
Personally, if I had to choose, Julian would win my vote however, the conclusion of this trilogy may go either way. There have been many twists and turns and I wouldn't be surprised whatever the ending may be.

It's not a bad combo, BUT I felt like Julian's eyes was a rip-off from Alex's-like, on how they change and everything. But yeah: golden brown hair and autumn eyes beats the aurburn/brown combo for me~!
