Alex or Julian???

lol same here especially since my friends have like a 5th grade reading level ha-ha :D

First time I've ever liked the "second guy" in the love triangle better than the first love. I was surprised. If Alex is a bitter jerk in the next book, I will deff be rooting for Julian. She had no way of knowing he was alive, and he couldn't have expected her to just never move on.

Lena did not have "no way" to do that Alex was alive. Like when she was looking through the prison records she could have looked for Alex's name but she was to busy making sure fragile little Julian was safe and sound *rolling eyes*.
Alex was attacked Lena ASSUMED he was dead she didn't even bother to verify it. It didn't even take Lena a YEAR to "fall in love" with Julian. Julian was really just a rebound.

It's my opinion. I like Julian's character better than Alex's. She didn't look through the prison records because she thought he was Dead. And she had every reason to believe he was :p
I'm not saying that I hate Alex, cause I don't. There's something about a first love that makes me want to root for him. But as of right now, I'm with Julian.

I completely respect you opinion it is a free country. However, judging from how much she thought of Alex and wished he was alive I thought she would do everything she could to see what happened to him and verify if he was dead or not.
I never really connected with Julian's character the way I did with Alex's. And Julian and Lena's relationship didn't seem real like Lena and Alex's but alas there is so much we don't know until 2013...
I crown Lauren Oliver queen of all devestating cliff hangers lol :D

When I started the book I thought she was stupid for not investigating whether he was truly dead or not. Shot most certainly does not equal death. Then I realized I liked Julian better. I'm sure I could fall back in love with Alex again though.
Can't wait for the next one! It's hard to predict what'll happen lol. Unless she just kills one of them off..that wouldn't surprise me. Or find a new lover for the poor guy who doesn't get chosen or whatever.

well Requiem is from Hana and Lena's POV so maybe Julian will end up with Hana XD

I really like ur review and everything but this means ur team Alex, right?? ALEX FOREVER!!

That. Would. Be. Perfect.

I do agree that Alex definitely will change after all the torture and stuff that he has been through in the crypts but not as drastically as many think. I don't think they brainwashed Alex like what they did with Peeta in Mockingjay because when Julian asked Lena if she would stay with him forever and Alex said, "Don't believe her." That shows Alex still remembers Lena and her promises and their love that they shared together.
As for his eyes being "hardened" I think he just felt betrayed (I mean c'mon walk in on your love promising to stay with another man forever *ouch*). Plus maybe he didn't sleep, because escaping a bombing there is much time for the zzz's. There are endless possiblities.
Also, Peeta was rather weak so I don't think it took much to break him. Alex is a lot stronger then that plus he is smart it would take a lot of torture to break him. Personally, I don't think he was in the crypts long enough for them to do any permanent damage because like I mentioned before Alex is one tuff cookie, he isn't fragile like Peeta and Julian.
So I think the real Alex is still there but in a hardened shell that needs to cracked open ha-ha :D

I absolutly agree!!!!!

However, with Alex and Lena's relationship they spent most of their time getting to know each other and just simply hanging out so not only did they grow to love each other but were also best friends.
Julian and Lena were both running for their lives. Lena was emotionally desperate and Julian never even touched a girl before plus he just found out most of his life was a lie. They never just spent time together without someone trying to kill them. Lena didn't tell Julian a lot about herself (but yes I know her previous life is "dead" however if I really loved someone I would tell them) she told Alex EVERYTHING about herself.

Howev..."
You do have a point, like i said we will just have to see how it all plays out in the last book, maybe given enough time Lena would tell Julian all about herself, i guess it just depends what way Lauren Oliver wants to take the story xxx

This is the LONGEST WAIT EVER!!! lol :D
But Lauren Oliver on her website said that its not really a love triangle....

Yeah i saw that, but it could mean anything, it's those sorts of hints that drive me crazy ;) xxx

can u please send the link where it says its not a love triangle.
Alex tugged at my heartstring and Julian was plain annoying - sorry but ALEX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's where I read it but I have seen it other places as well. Just scroll down to the random Q+A's on twitter. :)

Either that or she'll make Hana get with Julian, which i hope doesn't happen if only because it would be so damn predictable xxx

Or who knows she could be with the mayor's son or maybe she won't be with anyone and she is the one who dies...

Maybe, im not sure how i feel about Hana if she was the one that told on Alex and Lena then she needs to seriously redeem herself...fast, because i dont really like reading the POV of someone who annoys the hell out of me. xxx

I feel the same which is why I haven't actually touched that book!

Either that or she'll make Hana get with Julian..."
I know me too I hate the POV's of stupid characters... lol

Think of all the things he did for Lena. They became friends first, unlike with Julian, where they just bounce into kissing. Lena was sad, and lonely, and she just needed a shoulder to cry on.
Her and Alex's relationship was real.
So Alex. :)

Well have all the answers in the third book when I finished readIng her POV I was like that .... But she did help Lena send the message to
Alex so well wait and see

I agree!!!

True true but remember when they were running and HANA decided to run over to the crypts yard where they weren't supposed to be where Alex was the guard and he invited Lena to the beach to see the sunset..
Also, when Hana decided to go to that forbidden party and Lena followed her there. Lena danced with Alex at the party that HANA was at.

Yes Lena 'saw' him but without Hana that's all she would have done like I said before Hana was the whole reason that they actually talked and communicated without cows running wild
Lena and Alex could have met another way but I seriously doubt it...

First off, in the end of the first book Alex had at the last minute abandoned Lena when she was her most vulnerable. She was climbing a fence into a world she never got the chance to really explore and had been forced into; I'm surprise that she didn't die wandering around in there. Besides that, what were you doing Alex, just watching her go there, standing at the other end of the fence, not moving, not even trying to follow? What the heck!? Just watching the men come closer and closer to you, shoot you, and then tackle you to the ground; that is enough time to climb, fall to the ground in your rush, and run of with her. WHAT. WERE. YOU. THINKING? You couldn’t possibly be paralyzed by the fact of retreating to your birth place. Honestly!
So I was a little desperate to see Alex get a retribution at some point during the second book, but when he only showed up at the end (at the worst point in time, if I might add) and the first thing that comes out of his mouth is: "Don't believe her." Needless to say, I threw my book to the floor and seethed for a while before I finally finished the last page. What a hypocrite! You sacrificed yourself for absolutely NOTHING, made Lena believe that you were dead and gone, and when you come to find her again, you spew THAT in her face?!
I'm sorry for all of those Alex fans out there but his character keeps making me bristle every time I think of him. I hope she gets to scream her lungs out at him for at least four pages; otherwise I will never like the name Alex ever again. Ugh. Which stinks because I bet it will never happen; she'll just throw her arms around him, he'll still be bitter towards her, she'll beg for forgiveness, and leave Julian in the dust.
I like Julian, silly, naive, and oblivious Julian I find is quite smart, resourceful, and quicker than Lena was when she first learns about Invalids. (Granted a better circumstance) But he trusted her from the beginning. And helped her through every opportunity he had the chance to abandon her.
Just because Alex is cool, to me, if I was to fall in love, I'd want someone who would be by my side through everything, not just be chivalrous for his own pride, and then expect everything to work his way.
I pray to god that someone will just get their due during the third book.
With Julian a new and innocent, learning character; Lena with her just cracking heart, with past sadness falling away; and then Alex the idiot who was gone for an entire century it feels like, only to come back as a douche.
I don't know who will win; I am just hoping that Lena won't go to Alex for guilt reasons. We have enough of those desperate YA characters to throw in the corner, we don't need another.

I'm about to defend my Alex. . .respectfully ha-ha >:D

Alex didn't try to move because if he did then they would have chased them both into the wilds which would have put not only Alex and Lena in danger but also the people of the wilds. Either that or they would have electrified the fence and killed them both. So with the police distracted trying to capture Alex he gave Lena a chance to get away safely. I personally think Alex had a plan of getting out to be with Lena. Also, when Alex and Lena went into the wilds for the first time he taught her how to read the map on the trees so he didn't just abandon Lena.
I think Alex deserves to be mad on every sort of ground because I mean back to what happened in Delirium, Alex freaking sacrificed himself so Lena could get away safe. Then endured the crypts where they were doing god knows what to him just to find Lena smooching up some other guy at the end of Pandemonium! It didn't even take Lena a YEAR to start a relationship with Julian. Alex was just attacked Lena ASSUMED he was dead she didn't even bother to verify it because she was to busy making sure fragile little Julian was safe and sound. *rolling eyes* It wasn't even hard to find out if Alex was alive like when she was looking through the prison records she could have looked for Alex's name but did she noooo because she was to busy protecting little Julian.
As for "Don't believe her" it was like Alex saying, "Don't believe her when she says forever because she said that too me too and she didn't even look for me or verify that I was dead and it didn't even take a year for her to fall for you"

me either *sigh* some people lol :D

hmmmm....hard to say really so it would be eaiser just to tell what I DON'T think is going to happen ha-ha:
Alex won't become like Peeta in Mockingjay and he won't "change" as drasically as many think
Lena will NOT end up with Julian (she better not or I will throw a tantrum lol)
I think that Hana will not be cured
Julian will die because Requiem is almost always associated with death and mourning
There will be a big clossial war
That's really it but Lauren Oliver always keeps us on our toes ha-ha :D

I think alot of people are going to die like hunter, raven.. lena will be reunited with her mom. but i think her mom might die later in the book.. maybe hana will help with the resistance since she is engaged to the mayors son..

It was kind of a short time for Lena to fall in love, she spent something like a year or so mourning Alex. She thought he was dead, so staying so connected to him would have hurt her more than it helped.
