Books I Read In High School
In grade school I grew up reading and loving the Amelia Bedilia books
they were so funny and I just love the good nature of the books. I don't believe I have read all of them but I plan to go to the library and dig for some of the books :)I remember reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
in the fifth grade, It's such a vivid memory because I remember looking me and Tt searching for it in our elementary Library and being so excited about it lol and my Harry Potter obsession started from there!

I agree on Harry Potter! I was such a book worm after that book and Twilight I started it alil before the movie came out, I knew nothing about it :/
Harry Potter series is the best one ever. :D I still remember that my friend didn't want to lend me his book to me..Until my aunt gave me 1 treasure chest of HP books :)
That's so funny he didn't want to lend it to you but I don't blame him! lol I have like multiple copies of some of the HP books I need to get rid of some :)
LOL! I don't remember that long ago :)
For fun I was reading Stephen King, Christopher Pike, R.L. Stine (Fear Street), and Francine Pascal (Sweet Valley High).

Lmao! I bet you did, Harry Potter is a classic book in my opinion :)
Did you guys have to read Beowulf
in High School? OMG I feel bad saying this but I thought it was EXTREMELY BORING! I couldn't get into it and the language was sooo confusing, i still don't know what its about but luckily I'm good at scanning so I didn't fail any quizzes on this book ha!
Alice Belikov wrote: "Have you read the thirst series?"
No, I think those ones are newer. I haven't read any of his books in a while. Are they good?

Yes, I believe it's the newer ones by Christopher Pike and YES they are good. I've only read the first one back in 09 but have the second book sitting and waiting on my shelf :/ If your into the whole Vamp thing you should like them.
Robii wrote: "I'm not in High School yet, but I'll be in fall..."Cool, I would say you can get a head start on these books but times have changed. In English class we would read a lot of Shakespeare like Romeo Juliet but know teachers are assigning books like 'The Hunger Games' which is so funny and crazy to me but I guess things have to change at some point.
I can't remember books we read for school. Obviously nothing that made a huge impact on me :)
I remember reading
and
...both excellent books.

That's all I can think of right now... there's plenty more. Some were for fun, others for school. Of the school ones, a few I loathed (Heart of Darkness) and some I adored (The Martian Chronicles).

The only books I remember reading and loving were S.E.HINTON'S YA novella's such as the infamous OUTSIDERS. It's because of books such as Tex, Rumble Fish and That was then this is now, that I became an author. After reading all her books I couldn't find anything remotely similar.
There's was me thinking I'd found a whole in the marketplace. Well I have, unfortunately, it's still a unknown genre that agents won't take a chance on.
Maybe one day........
I remember it was in high school in the library were I saw my first book on chess. It had never dawned on me that there would be books to help you learn how to play better. My mother taught me to play but never let me win, ever. Looking back I am glad of that. I read every book on chess I could get my hands on during high school until I could beat my mother playing chess.
The only down side is I have a real problem losing at anything! Bad enough my wife says I need therapy about this and she refuses to play certain games with me because I am such a sore loser, if I lose!

Now that I'm 35... not quite as good as they once were... but still a solid 4♥'s for me. It is YA, but it's sweet.
When I was in school I loved Christopher Pike, RL Stine, Francine Pascal, and Lurlene McDaniel. YA lit has changed just a tad from when I was in school.

I am currently a freshman in high school! So far this year we have read.1. Great Expectations
2. Catcher in the Rye
3. To Kill A Mockingbird
I HAVE LOVED ALL OF THEM <3
does anyone know any good books to read that are by american authors and are written between 1800-1899I have to read one for english but I don't want to be stuck with a boring book!!!!!!!!
Princess, when you say 'good' you mean...? Lol. I'm asking because I've picked out books for my daughters and they complain about how boring they are!I'd suggest The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott or The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain.
When I was in high school, I read *a lot* of Stephen King. The Shining had just been released, and I devoured it! I also enjoyed John Saul, Dean R. Koontz, and Ray Bradbury.
I would second Tom Sawyer.
I haven't read The Scarlet Letter and had a hard time getting through Little Women. I plan to try reading that one again sometime, though.
