Only if you can find books listed on GR written in it.

French - Fluent (including medieval)German - Fluent (including medieval - specifically Middle High German)
Spanish and Italian are probably both a slightly rusty intermediate!
Starting to catalogue my foreign-language books and when I inevitably get distracted and start reading instead of sorting the Spanish at least should get some well-needed revision!
Depending on period, think Beowulf (Old English, sometime in 8th-11th Century) or Chaucer (14th Century) compared with modern English. Obviously the older a text is, the greater the difference compared with the modern language, and standardization of spelling and grammar is a pretty recent development in most languages, so some things are more recognizable then others: just think how much English has changed since Shakespeare was writing in the 16th century.I took medieval French and Medieval German options at university with texts from around 11th to 13th centuries. There were other options, but these were the only ones with dragons and knights in shining armour, so no contest really!
For any books you want me to help with, sent me a message. Will answer as soon as possible.
Just as a reminder, we're not tracking fluency in English here since the majority of librarians have sufficient skill in English for cataloging purposes. This is a list of librarians who can help catalog in languages which are under-represented in general librarian work.
