message 157: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 2 comments WOW, lol lots of comments.
I think that Twilight is an amzing book and I don't like it because of all the "hype." I actually read it in the month it was first published and fell in love with it. I don't understand how people say that Bella Swan is stupid because she loves Edward in a couple of weeks or months. I mean I love him and he's fictional! How can you not?
And what do you mean Stephanie Meyer can't write? Apparently she can to be compared to J.K. Rowling (who is what? the richest person in England?)
At first I didn't really like Breaking Dawn but it is growing on me=D It does have closure and for that I am thankful. And I am starting to love Rennesme and Jake=]

message 158: by Jasmine (last edited Nov 23, 2008 06:10PM) (new)

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 2 comments LOL, I am probably the type of person that would do the same thing=D (in response to Chandani :D)

message 159: by Diana (new)

Diana (higura_natume) | 931 comments well i just think bella didn't mature (i have nothing against her falling in love with edward so quickly, because i would've too)

but her writing could use some work (sorry jasmine)

but bd is still not growing for me...

message 160: by Chandani (new)

Chandani (milkduds920) | 6408 comments I hate Edward. I mean the whole book he has no personality! SM just describes him as beautiful, and wonderful! He doesnt have any life outside of Bella.

And as for Bella, i agree with you Diana, she learned nothing as the books progressed. SHe stayed the same immature annoying more than normally clumsy mean person who abandoned Jacob!!!!!!

message 161: by Chandani (new)

Chandani (milkduds920) | 6408 comments BD made me puke i swear.

No i didnt puke but i did gag...fake gag....but a gag's a gag.

message 162: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ Haha I agree with Jasmine. Twilight is awesome. I, too, was one of the early Twilight fans. One of my friends picked it up and thought it looked interesting and then my other friends started reading it and then I read it, and we were all like "OMG THIS IS AWESOME!!" But like NOBODY had heard of it when I first read it. I'd be like, "HAS ANYBODY READ TWILIGHT?!" And everyone would be like, "Uuuhh What's that?" So now everyone's like "OMG HAVE YOU READ TWILIGHT?!" And I'm like, "Pffft. I practically DISCOVERED Twilight." lol.

As for Stephenie Meyer's writing and all, it doesn't really bother me. I got too hooked by the story to worry about the style of the writing. Some books are amazingly written, but the plot sucks. Some books ... the writing isn't the most amazing thing ever, but the plot really draws you in, which I think is the case w/Meyer's books. And even so, I really don't think her writing is as awful as people try to make it sound. I've read waaaay worse. I mean, come on. She's not Shakespeare; give her a break. At least she admits she's not the greatest writer ever, but she does what she loves. That's what matters.

message 163: by Chandani (new)

Chandani (milkduds920) | 6408 comments It was a fun read, but i think that she shouldnt have made a sequal.

message 164: by Court (new)

Court Its a good book..but she really shouldn't be compared to J.K. Rowling, who is one of the best YA fiction writers, where as Stephenie Meyer has just written 4 books with the same basic plotline:Bella loves Edward, Jacob's jealous, and some vampire wants to kill Bella..but her writing is really great XD

message 165: by Chandani (new)

Chandani (milkduds920) | 6408 comments I think her writing in twilight was really dul, along with the plotline which was boring as well but the Host was AMAZZAZING

message 166: by Diana (new)

Diana (higura_natume) | 931 comments oh yeah! i read twilight before it was popular too and i loved it!!!

well twilight could've been ended easily if bella had been turned into a vampire

but i actually liked the movie (especially ERIC!!!)

message 167: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ Okay, I hate how ppl compare Stephenie Meyer to JK Rowling, just because they're both popular authors. It's like, don't even start. There's not much to compare. To Courtney's comment: well, Rowling has only written one popular series too, with the same ongoing plotline. So I don't see how that makes her better.

Oh, and The Host is amazing -- better than Twilight, even. :D

message 168: by Ailis (new)

Ailis | 227 comments 1st of all the vampire craze started in the 80's.

its not just breaking dawn thats bad though. I mean if you liked the series in the first place, you shouldnt be so harsh on her last book although she did rap it up pretty shittily and i was so dumbfounded at her lack of cleverness at naming people i mean please, RENESME?? God. But if you like the series, BD is not esactly backing you up so lets move on.

this is not a forum to feel sorry for meyers last book, which wasn't THAT bad, I mean it wasnt any news that it was no good, but i had no idea it would throw so many fans down the tubes.

message 169: by Chandani (new)

Chandani (milkduds920) | 6408 comments I just went on a huge rant about how bad the book is at my Lit class. Everyone was cracking up it was hillarious.

message 170: by Diana (new)

Diana (higura_natume) | 931 comments i don't mind the name renesme but hell, that's just me

message 171: by Chandani (new)

Chandani (milkduds920) | 6408 comments I thought it was stupid. It was just Two names put together, and then Carlie???

Ugh i hated that book so much...

message 172: by Diana (new)

Diana (higura_natume) | 931 comments well i'm always laid-back no big deal person anyway

and i liked the (somewhat) originality of the name

but the movie was pretty good

and jasper is SO hot in real life (not in the movie)

message 173: by Chandani (new)

Chandani (milkduds920) | 6408 comments yeah i think that Jasper (in my mind) is wayyy hotter than Edward.

message 174: by Diana (new)

Diana (higura_natume) | 931 comments you should check the actor

in the movie, he's all googly-eyed (not scared, more like surprised)
and all the vampire's hair is messy

but in real life he was REALLY good looking

message 175: by Chandani (new)

Chandani (milkduds920) | 6408 comments yeah. JAsper is a hot name too.

message 176: by Diana (new)

Diana (higura_natume) | 931 comments i know, if i have kids i might name it

Edward (and if anyone called him Ed or Eddy I'd shoot them)

and

Jasper

I mean her books might've sucked, but stephenie did good jobs with the vampire names

message 177: by Chandani (new)

Chandani (milkduds920) | 6408 comments Yeah. I thought about Edward, but people would like call him Ed and stuff. Jasper, Michael, and Cairo are my top choices.

message 178: by Diana (new)

Diana (higura_natume) | 931 comments yeah im like the only one of my friends who hated nicknames before twilight

after twilight, everyone knew what i meant

i mean you couldn't call edward eddy (that'd just be wrong!)

message 179: by Chandani (new)

Chandani (milkduds920) | 6408 comments Yeah that would just be gross

message 180: by Diana (new)

Diana (higura_natume) | 931 comments seriously

benjamin to ben is the only one i don't mind (but benny would be bad!)

message 181: by Chandani (new)

Chandani (milkduds920) | 6408 comments benny is gross.

message 182: by Diana (new)

Diana (higura_natume) | 931 comments my friend called her cousin that and her aunt got mad (i don't blame her)

message 183: by Chandani (new)

Chandani (milkduds920) | 6408 comments Lol, me neither

message 184: by Diana (new)

Diana (higura_natume) | 931 comments and bill

(william to bill)

message 185: by Chandani (new)

Chandani (milkduds920) | 6408 comments I like Wlliam to Will

message 186: by Diana (new)

Diana (higura_natume) | 931 comments yeah will isn't bad

i don't see how James becomes Jim though...

and Thomas to Tom is okay...

Oh, I love the name Harrison!

message 187: by Chandani (new)

Chandani (milkduds920) | 6408 comments Ohh yeah

message 188: by Sarah jean (new)

Sarah jean blank (Sarahjean) oh pick me i hate the book :) heres a list of 5 7 reasons!

1st. i dont like fantasy- and the book was not my type.

2nd. She uses muttered, murrmed, and whispered WAY to much. Its a long book so its not hard to understand she'd not be able to have a new word for everything but theres lots of repetitive words.

3rd. its long and if you ask me- pretty much slow paced and boring. i just cant work with long books.

4th. edward's personality is a.blank or b. not described by meyer

5th. It to me seemed un-beliveable, the charecters were prety much "perfect" with quirks passed off as flaws.

IMPORTANT ONE:::

6th (i added a new one). i dont think she should have made them vampires, throughout the books (as i hear and have seen slightly) changes her definition of them. also I think realy the only thing the vampire thing did was A. have an excuse for making them perfect and B. give a certian twist, which she didnt need vampires to do. i would have loved twilight even more if she hadnt twisted the definition of a vampire then made them vampires

7th (i added another new one). i think that it has a lack of strong plot and i dont see much of the climax.

message 189: by Chandani (new)

Chandani (milkduds920) | 6408 comments GO SARAH JEAN!

message 190: by Sarah jean (new)

Sarah jean blank (Sarahjean) yay i feel special :)

message 191: by Chandani (new)

Chandani (milkduds920) | 6408 comments :D

I hate twilight too! Oh i know where ive seen you before!!

Youre in the Twilight Haters group right??

Hii!!

message 192: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ Okay, well we're all entitled to our own opinions ...

message 193: by Court (new)

Court Sarah Jean, I think you'd like Midnight Sun, cuz its from Edward's POV and I guess it mite make him seem less perfect..

message 194: by Sarah jean (new)

Sarah jean blank (Sarahjean) yaeah! i am in the twilight haters group :) and da luvers group to get a difrent view but i agree with ya'll better!

message 195: by Sarah jean (new)

Sarah jean blank (Sarahjean) i dont think she publishing midnight sun- cause they broke her "human rights" (aka copiright rights) when it got leaked.

message 196: by Diana (last edited Nov 26, 2008 08:27AM) (new)

Diana (higura_natume) | 931 comments well i guess you're right

but i enjoyed the vampire parts even if it was unnecessary

and i like fantasy and can keep going with long boring books (my talent ;) ) so i guess that's why i don't hate it as much as you

and i hope they let midnight sun out! (want to read it so bad!)

message 197: by Court (new)

Court She is going to publish it..just in a couple of years.

message 198: by Diana (new)

Diana (higura_natume) | 931 comments yeah ill be waiting

message 199: by Sarah jean (new)

Sarah jean blank (Sarahjean) i wont XD

message 200: by Chandani (new)

Chandani (milkduds920) | 6408 comments me neaither. I just read some of the draft and its soo boring!!

"We were in biology. I was holding my breath but then OH NO! She flipped her hair *gasp* i breathed in and i wanted to kill her!"

But in it Edward was like "SHes so selfless" and all i could think was "yeah...easy target huh?"
