that would be maria/masha...in comments found above...and others...

message 552: by Liz (new)

Liz Well lets not come up with a list of rude people. I have a feeling that is not a good idea. Everyone is rude at times but I think Riley is just trying to ask you to be kinder.

The New Maria (emeraldmaria) | 1950 comments Riley wrote: "SaRa, that was uncalled for. Strike 2.

And if I see someone as rude as you are, I'll give them strikes as well."

Strike 3 actually. Chan striked her twice. That means... *drumroll* POLL TIME!!!!!!!!!!

Well I am sorry about whatever it is but you do not have to take your feelings out on us. There are real people on the other side.

message 562: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm not. But it is unfair and very uncalled for when random people gang up on various amounts of people. Like myself and Sara.

message 563: by Emma the Dork (new)

Emma the Dork (cheesehead) its not uncalled for if there is a reason. and i don't think we are ganging up on you, jessica.

message 564: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) la di dah...Riley's taking a break from Mod powers, to leave you to your own devices.

SEE YOU IN A FEW YEARS SUCKAS!

message 565: by [deleted user] (new)

Please,Emma. Almost all of you have picked on me and Sara from the first day we started to come here.

message 566: by Emma the Dork (new)

Emma the Dork (cheesehead) yup. that because you deserve it, hon. lighten up. maybe be a tiny bit more convincing in your debates so that we respect. and of course by a tiny bit a mean a lot bit. like a LOT A LOT A LOT etc. bit.

message 567: by Emma the Dork (new)

Emma the Dork (cheesehead) they're not being picked on. this isn't gradeschool. they be immature or debate crappily, (mostly sara does that, actually) we call them on it, they be snotty (again, all sara) and we get mad. i don't really know if its still going on, but thats the jist of it.

message 568: by Emma the Dork (new)

Emma the Dork (cheesehead) ok. thats what you think. but sometimes it gets to a point.

message 569: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm not the one argueing about if someone is immature or not behind someone's back. No offense Aryll.

message 570: by Emma the Dork (new)

Emma the Dork (cheesehead) sorry, jessica, i don't even think i am talking about you. its mostly sara, as i said before. and its not behind their back if they can see it.

message 571: by [deleted user] (new)

Well,it is if they aren't on there at the time.

message 572: by Emma the Dork (new)

Emma the Dork (cheesehead) i see what you mean...

message 573: by Emma the Dork (new)

Emma the Dork (cheesehead) gotta go, bye!

Sarah (lesmisarahbles) | 17 comments I believe my Twilight book review fits here:

When I first read this book, I was sick, on isolation, and cut off from human contact other than my mother and my doctor. Needless to say, I devoured it.

Then, once back in society, I reread it. And saw it for the horrible rubbish it truly is.

For starters, Bella is a whiner. She complains about her parents, the climate, her new town that she decided to live in, excetera. She is horribly rude to her father who took her in, even after he buys her a car. She gripes about her new house, the scenery, ad nauseum.

50 pages of this, and she arrives at school. Of course, this special snowflake doesn't associate herself with "common people"! She snubs any possibly new friends, instead focusing attention on the emo-acting supermodels in the corner. Thus implying that looks trump personality.

Skip the next 50 or so pages to see that the emo boy she watched is a "zomgvamp" named Edward who wants to suck her blood because she's just so tasty. New-age Romeo & Juliet without the lyrical prose, they fall in love with just 3 conversations. Add sparkling, baseball, and hunter-vampires, and you've got the book. Original? Possibly. Anti-feminist? Hell yes. Breaking every vampire rule in the book? Amen to that.

twilight is awesome

Sarah (lesmisarahbles) | 17 comments How can one debate if one side only retorts with, "It's Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111apple!!!!1"

No offense, but really.

message 582: by Diana (new)

but even with all that, i still think it's enjoyable

Thank you so much. Like you, when i first read the series it was in the middle of winter, and all of my friends were upstate, so of course i LOVED THEM. I read each book at least 10 times. In the summer i got back in touch with my friends and didn't read any of the books for a while. Then Breaking Dawn came out, and i rad that, and it just showed what complete shit the series was.

Bella is horrible, whiny and just annoying!!! Edward has zero personality, he is DEFINED by his looks. SM simply was not a good writer! The books are dragged out, and horribly written. Ugh.

:)

message 584: by Diana (new)

Diana (higura_natume) | 931 comments which supports my point that twilight is fine as long as you don't take it seriously

message 585: by Jayda (new)

Jayda "1. Very un-realistic"

That's why it's called FICTION :)

"2. What kind of message does it send???? That you should get married and have babies straight out of high school??"

What's wrong with that? Sure, the chances of success may be small, but they aren't non-existant.

"3. Also, I think that it was over exagerated......"

You'd never know if you weren't in that situation xD

"

And also drop out of high school, never go to college because they can't afford it, and live in poor conditions working dead-end jobs.

message 587: by Jayda (new)

Jayda But that isn't what happened in Twilight o.O And if you drop out of school to get married than you're obviously stupid and clearly need to go back to school.

I know a couple who got married pretty much just out of school and have been married for either 16 or 17 years and are still as happy as they were when they were first married.

message 588: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod
So slim, those odds. :)

message 589: by Jayda (new)

Jayda But they still exist ^^

message 590: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod
Don't bet on those odds. X)

message 591: by Jayda (new)

Jayda I wouldn't bet on them, I'm just saying that it's possible to have a successful marriage just out of high school xD It's not probable, but it is indeed possible.

message 592: by Amy (new)

Amy i read all 4 books and at first loved them but now i realize that they are ok, but def not something to be thrilled about.

message 593: by Diana (new)

Diana (higura_natume) | 931 comments the way bella's life turned out is possible, but i wouldn't encourage any teenage girl to go after that kind of life

but other than that, i don't really care

Amy Diana wrote: "the way bella's life turned out is possible, but i wouldn't encourage any teenage girl to go after that kind of life

Yeah i really don't know why everyone is focusing on how she didn't go to college and she married young, had a baby etc. it is just a book. i think that people have a right to do what they want with their life even if they end up runing everything. its their crappy choice.

message 595: by Liz (last edited Jun 16, 2009 09:05AM) (new)

Liz (lizgore) | 3163 comments twilight is awesome! (i don't care if you can't debate that).

but just because girls like twilight doesn't make them (as you have listed above)

i love the classics -jane eyre, wuthering heights, a tale of two cites, the strange case of dr. Jekyll and mr. Hyde-

i am smart and love debating politics

it is not who we are just something we enjoy on the side

message 596: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (lesmisarahbles) | 17 comments Yes, but it's the fact that Smeyer glorifies the whole, "girls don't go to college and instead hook up with their boyfriend and have a kid".

message 597: by Liz (new)

Liz (lizgore) | 3163 comments she doesn't glorify it

she writes a book about a girl who falls in love with a vampire and they get married have a kid and live happily every after

if you read the host it is completely different and that women is absolutely independent and she doesn't even get with a guy till the end

message 598: by Jayda (new)

Jayda Sarah wrote: "Yes, but it's the fact that Smeyer glorifies the whole, "girls don't go to college and instead hook up with their boyfriend and have a kid". "

Why do you think she glorifies that? o.O Edward wanted her to go to college and instead they got married and Bella ended up pregnant. Being pregnant with a baby that's killing you slowly kind of makes it hard to go to college.

And yes, the Host is definitely different.

message 599: by Jayda (new)

Jayda That's why I get annoyed when people say "It's unrealistic", blah, blah, blah. IT'S FREAKING FICTION. IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE UNREALISTIC. I DON'T HEAR YOU COMPLAINING ABOUT HARRY POTTER OR THE CITY OF BONES SERIES! -growls- xD Okay, defensive mode off ^^

message 600: by Jayda (new)

Jayda xDD Me to.
