I guess I'm going to start Emma. It's a book club for another book group and it qualifies for several categories on this groups challenge, I just have to pick a category for it.

I'm almost done with A Wild Sheep Chase. I read about a quarter of it in May and then set it down until yesterday. At lunch I'm starting 2001 A Space Odyssey and I'm not very excited about it. I just want to get it out of the way.
Jamie, The Thirteenth Tale does get better, although I did have some trouble getting through it anyway. I think it picks up a bit somewhere between pages 50-100.
I'm reading Sold right now & it's just crazy. It's about a girl that is sold from her father as a sex slave, but on the way to her new "home" the entire time she thinks she going to be some rich woman's maid. It's just nuts. I don't know how people could still live lives after something like that.
Oh my gosh Ashley!!! Is there anyway I can borrow it and mail it back to you? Or swap one of mine? I want to read that one sooooo bad!
I'm reading 2001 A Space Odyssey and Nineteen Minutes A novel. I'm about 40 pages into both of them.
I like it so far, but I've heard some mixed things about Jodi Picoult. This is the first thing I've read by her.
Well so far it's the first and only thing I read by her. I've heard mixed things as well but I really enjoyed that book. I don't know about the rest of them!
i haven't read anything by Jodi Picoult either. I'm thinking about reading one of her books soon.
I got an advanced copy of Change of Heart from work. I've never read Jodi Picoult before either, but I've heard she's good. I'll try that one first and see how it goes...
I really don't like Jodi Picoult. However I did read My Sister's Keeper and really, really liked it!! It is the only book I have ever read by her that I really enjoyed!! It's the best and it's being made into a movie.
I read Salem Falls by Picoult & absolutely loved it. Then I tried Songs of the Humpback Whale A Novel in Five Voices & it was awful. I mean... awful. Haha. But the general consenus from people who've read a lot of her novels is just that that one sucked bad for some reason. Haha. So don't read that one. But I bet the rest are good.I just finished Sold. It was pretty good, but it just kind of ended without telling me what happened later on in the main character's life. That always bugs me.
I've started The Year of Living Biblically. But I need to start some fiction today, which will probably be War and Peace, although I, of course, have a million fiction books I want to read.
I just finished "The Hunger Games". It was amazing! I was pulled into the story from the first page. I did not want to put it down, it took a lot of self control to keep myself from reading it instead of doing my math homework. I can't wait for the next book!
I just finished reading Escape I really really enjoyed it. I find other cultures and ways of living so fascinating, I cannot BELIEVE that there are people living like this in the U.S., it really makes me grateful to be born into my family! I starting reading this book and couldn't put it down, i read it in one sitting and cried!
I just finished Lolita and am now on to The Freedom Writers Diary How a Teacher and 150 Teens Used Writing to Change Themselves and the World Around Them for our school year challenge!
Coraline showed up yesterday and was quickly digested. Now it's back to Nineteen Minutes A novel. And 2001 A Space Odyssey. They're my "put down if something new/better comes along" books.
I decided on Me Talk Pretty One Day. So far not too interesting, but a fast read. Hopefully it will pick up.
I've picked up Lady Chatterley's Lover, America's Queen The Life of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath, and War and Peace (a book group pick) in addition to weekly installments of The Year of Living Biblically One Man's Humble Quest to Follow the Bible As Literally As Possible. It should be an interesting ride.
Tami wrote: "I decided on Me Talk Pretty One Day. So far not too interesting, but a fast read. Hopefully it will pick up."I prefer my Sedaris in his audio books. He's such a great reader, and his style is very endearing when I hear it in his voice.
Just finished Saints Behaving Badly The Cutthroats, Crooks, Trollops, Con Men, and Devil-Worshippers Who Became Saints. But I don't see how it would fit in for the book challenge (darn).Going to focus on finishing The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn (for class and the challenge) and continue reading Bright Lights, Big Ass A Self-Indulgent, Surly, Ex-Sorority Girl's Guide to Why it Often Sucks in the City, or Who are These Idiots and Why Do They All Live Next Door to Me?. I'm enjoying taking my time with it and savoring (something I rarely do). And I also got Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day at the library the other day and would like to read that next... but I feel like I need to catch up on my American Lit class readings. eh.
Glad the 13th tale picked up for you, Jamie. Kudos for continuing reading. I'm almost done. let me know what you think of it when you finish.Ashly, I've been wanting to read Nefertiti but heard mixed reviews, especially about the setting descriptions. What do you think? Are they good?
i'm almost done with it too Anastasia! I'm really enjoying it now. It has me wanting to read whereas before I really could have cared less to pick it back up. I'll let you know when I'm done! :)
just finished The Thirteenth Tale (much better for me than it started out to be!!)..now on to a nice refresher of Franny and Zooey.
Andrew, it is getting better. One of my friends drives a lot back and forth to California and listens to audio books. I will mention that they are enjoyable to him. Any other suggestions?
I am not sure why this book ended up on my to be read list, but so far it is interesting, if not super addictive. I have a weakness for Great Danes and there are two in the chapter I am on right now. That probably helped out a bit.

bree- i read the freedom writer's diary a few months ago. i'm majoring in education, so it was a really inspiring read.one thing that threw me off was that if you've seen the movie, it covers 1 school year. everything in the movie happened, but it was over the span of 2 or 3 years, but with the same group of students. i don't think that this took away from the book, but it took me a while to figure out what was going on.
I just started The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down by Anne Fadiman. It's really good so far. I have to read it for my Cultural Diversity Class. It's hard right now though because I have 2 novels going for class and 1 novel on my own. I am trying to finish The Book Thief so I can just focus on school reading. They're all really good books though!
Janet, I read that for my Issues in Literature class and completely loved it (The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down)!
Finished Me Talk Pretty One Day. It was good, not great. Some funny parts but some slow parts too.
Now I am starting Franny and Zooey.

There's something above the comment box that says "add book/author". You just click on that and choose whether you want a text link or a picture of the cover link. =)
Thanks! I'm reading the third book in the Pellinor Series, The Crow The Third Book of Pellinor. I've really like it so far.
I've got the first three books of the Pellinor series but have yet to read them. Is the series good?
I'm on the second book of the Pellinor series. I like them, but they seem to drag a little bit in some places.
I just finished reading The Sandman vol. 6 by Neil Gaiman.I'm currently reading
The Tell Tale Heart and Other Writings by Edgar Allen Poe for myself
and
Blade Runner for a class.
I finished reading Maureen McCormick's Here's the Story and I've made a pretty good dent in Old School this morning, hopefully finishing tonight or tomorrow. Both have been pretty enjoyable. I mainly bought the McCormick book for gossip, but it turned out to be a lot more interesting than that.
just reread Franny and Zooey and now I am starting Jessica Z. pretty good so far. She is an interesting character.
currently on The Secret History of the Pink Carnation & im still not getting into it just yet, but im not giving up. i think im going to go ahead & start The Woman Warrior Memoirs of a Girlhood Among Ghosts
