Jayme (JaymeLyn) I've just started The Host: A Novel, and when I get tired of it I'm picking up Darkfever. Currently searching Amazon for a good historical fiction.

just finished What They Always Tell Us.. it was ok..my little sister recommended it to me..it was really easy..a decent story..

Going to start Love Is a Mix Tape: Life and Loss, One Song at a Time

message 253: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Williams (mrslaurenwilliams) | 425 comments Jayme.. you'll like The Host. It's pretty good. I loved it. =)

message 254: by Allison (new)

Allison i'm very eager to get into lemony snicket books.
the sisters grimm series so far is very good.

message 255: by Jessika (new)

Jessika Hoover (jessalittlebooknerd) Just started Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I'm excited to read this because of all the Harry Potter books, the sixth and seventh are the only ones I haven't read yet, so, since it's something brand new for me, I'm pretty excited! :)

message 256: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker I started an experiment where I was reading 7 books at once (one every day), but that's not working out so well for me. It's on my to-do list today to figure out the book situation. I am probably going to require myself to read 10 or so chapters of Anna Karenina every Sunday before I can pick up a different book just because I've been working on that one forever and I'd like to finish at long last. I'm also probably going to keep reading Grace and Power (a Kennedy bio) and Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test (because I really like it and it weirds my dad out).

message 257: by Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner), The Founding Bookworm (new)

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
wow..i'm pretty sure I would get all scattered trying to read 7 books all at the same time! I generally just try to read 2 at a time..especially if i'm reading a harder book..like a classic for instance..so that way i have the more difficult book but when i need a break i can read a more fluff book. Or sometimes i read a non-fiction book and a fiction book to give myself some breaks.

message 258: by Janet (new)

Janet Jess- that's exciting! The last books were my favorite of HP. I am going to try and re-read all of them before the next movie comes out in July! Let us know what you think!!

message 259: by Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner), The Founding Bookworm (new)

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
can you believe that I have only ever read the first HP book??

message 260: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) Really Jamie?!? I thought that one was the hardest one to get into followed by the 7th. I think Kelsey and Janet will hate me for saying that but I was just tired of reading thousands and thousands of pages about Harry Potter. But overall the series is very well written.

I'm so pissed about the 6th HP movie! It was suppose to come out the weekend Twilight did and then they moved it to fricken July. Losers work at Warner Bros.

message 261: by Jessika (new)

Jessika Hoover (jessalittlebooknerd) Okay...so I'm about 50 pages into the sixth book, and I love it already! It started out with such a shock that I feel so compelled to keep reading!

message 262: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) Oh no, Jamie! But it's so worth it to read the rest! Haha. I keep pestering my boyfriend about reading them too, because I thought they just kept getting better and better. And Caiti: I hate you. Haha, just kidding. It's understandable that we all have different opinions. I think part of the reason why I love Harry Potter so much was that I grew up with it, so it's kind of like a comfort blanket or something.

message 263: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) That totally makes sense, and going back I sounded like some HP nazi. I love HP too I just was like really can we be done with these now, and I think I got that way because my favorite character was Sirius and he went buh-bye in the 5th book so I was like what's the point! Ha! I'm weird.

message 264: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) Aww I kept hoping Sirius would come back. I loved him too!

message 265: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) Kelsey did you get any of the HP merch?

message 266: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) I have some stuff, but not a whole lot. I have a few HP tshirts and a scarf and such. Is that what you mean?

message 267: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) Yes yes. That's awesome, what tees?

message 268: by Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner), The Founding Bookworm (new)

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
i think i will just have to read the rest of them then! I trust you girls..you were right about Twilight..i did like those! :)

message 269: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) Did you finish them all? And you should deff give them a shot. (I feel like now I have to brag HP up since I was like ugh I'm tired of reading about the. Ha!)

message 270: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) Haha. Actually, the HP tees I have are the ones I created from sites like cafepress.com and stuff. So they aren't actual WB shirts.

message 271: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) Sometimes those ones are way cooler anyways.

message 272: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker Jamie, I think I'm going to go back to something like that. I wasn't really scattered, but I felt constricted and kept rearranging things so I could avoid certain books.

message 273: by Lynnie (new)

Lynnie I didn't get into HP until the first movie came out. I saw that b/c my family forced me to go with them and then I started reading the books. I like the older ones more so than the newer ones... 1-3 were my favs.

message 274: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker Lynn, My mom hasn't read any of the books, but she LOVES the movies! We watch the first movie at least once a month. The first 3 really are the best because they get so sad and dark afterwards (but the story is really good).

message 275: by Janet (new)

Janet I can't wait for the next 3 movies! I am so glad they are splitting the 7th movie into 2 movies so they don't leave anything out!! Hooray! I love HP and hate everyone who doesn't! No, I am totally kidding!!! I think it's also a comfort thing for me too!

message 276: by Lynnie (new)

Lynnie I'm actually getting kinda tired of the HP movies (don't hit me, Janet! haha). But I still go to the midnight showings. I'm so glad they moved it back actually, b/c since it's over summer break, I'll be able to see it in town w/ one of my best friends. We always whisper super silly jokes to each other the whole time and bust out laughing. I have gotten so many dirty looks! haha. Omg, like one time, I forget which movie, my friend whispers to me: Neville's gonna kick some ass! I was cracking up sooo loud for like 10 mins.

but yeah, my sister started reading the books back in the day (before the movie and all that). And one summer my dad hurt his back, so he spent that summer lying on the couch and reading HP so he got kinda into it. I was like "omg that's so lame" and then I saw the movie and I was like omg! I'm reading the books! haha. A convert.

message 277: by Lynnie (new)

Lynnie just finished The Hour I First Believed: A Novel!! WOW! It was good... kinda crazy scrambled but so so good. Like eating a really messy but yummy meal. Also I couldn't put it down.. just like a yummy meal. hah

I think next I'm going to read The Hours

message 278: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Williams (mrslaurenwilliams) | 425 comments Just finished The Coma & it sucked. Fo sho. Haha. Oh well. Now on to finish The Last Empress.

message 279: by Katerina (new)

Katerina | 252 comments starting The Book Thief.

message 280: by Heather (new)

Heather (andshewontsleep) I finished both Breaking Dawn and Marley & Me in the last few days. I just started The Thirteenth Tale yesterday. So far, I'm really liking it.

message 281: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) What did you think of Marley and Me? I'm really torn on whether I should read it or not, I'm not a huge fan of books about pets.

message 282: by Heather (new)

Heather (andshewontsleep) I liked it. I love dogs, but never had one- this book made me want a puppy so bad. The bond between the author and his dog was just incredible, and the things that Marley did sometimes were sooo funny and ridiculous.

message 283: by Caiti Casey (last edited Jan 02, 2009 08:51AM) (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) I might have to give it a shot down the road. I'm more of a cat person, thus my hesitance.

message 284: by Bree (new)

Bree (breezybaby) | 144 comments currently reading Holidays on Ice and The Truth about Forever

message 285: by Janet (new)

Janet Caiti and Heather- I finished Marley and Me a little while ago and I just loved it!! Just the story was so great and it really was so funny! I have always had dogs growing up, so some of the stories I can relate too! I think if you're an any animal lover, you'll still love this story!! It's just about loving your animal for who they are, whether it's a cat, dog, bird, rat, etc. It was great and I highly recommend it!

message 286: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) Alright Janet you have me convinced, I'm going to read it.

message 288: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Williams (mrslaurenwilliams) | 425 comments I'm reading Jessica Z. right now. I've read reviews where people said they laughed, cried, and that this book is wonderful. So far it's pretty good, but I'm not even halfway through yet.

message 289: by Allison (new)

Allison i've just started The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Societyfor another book club i'm in.
so far, i'm really enjoying it.

message 290: by Janet (new)

Janet Caiti- you have me nervous now! I am nervous that I just said it was so good but you won't enjoy it! Haha don't ask me why that makes me so nervous. So, if you do read, I hope you do enjoy it! :)

message 291: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) I hope I do, maybe it will be one of those things where you going into it with out high expectations and then you are shockingly surprised and love it.

message 292: by Jayme (new)

Jayme (JaymeLyn) I finally finished The Host: A Novel. I've put it off for so long because I could never get through the first couple of chapters. But it's so good! I loved it. I also just finished Darkfever. It was okay and I will probably finish the rest of the series.

message 293: by Fr. Andrew (new)

Fr. Andrew (nitesead) I'm currently reading The Bone People by Keri Hulme.

It's fascinating and engrossing!

message 294: by Heather (new)

Heather (andshewontsleep) I finished The Thirteenth Tale last night.. I have mixed feelings about it. I'm now reading Uglies. It's definitely an interesting concept for a book.

just finished Breaking Dawn! Now on to The Book Thief!

message 298: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) I still need to finish the History of Love. So much for a lot of reading during break.

message 299: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker Currently reading Sex and the City, The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath, and 15 pages of War and Peace each day (it's for a book club). I think that will be my formula for the year-a fiction, a non-fiction, and pacing myself on a really long classic.

message 300: by Jayme (new)

Jayme (JaymeLyn) ugh. I just ordered seven books from amazon and all of them will have to wait because of classes :(
