1. Read Summer Secrets. This is my second Barbara Freethy book. I still haven't quite decided what I think. I liked this book but it also annoyed me. The plot revolves around 3 sisters and a big family secret that is basically destroying them and their family. That part feels very contrived. So many simple solutions are avoided as they try to maintain the "big" secret. However, I like her writing style and the story does keep you engaged. There is romance, but little sex.

1. The Body Finder - It was quite different from what I expected when I read the blurb. The friends-to-lovers portion of the H/h was quite well done. The author managed to avoid (for the most part) the big misunderstanding. But the heroine did tend to have some almost-TSTL moments. The story line and way the parents and the family seem acceptive of the heroine's gift was a nice touch. All in a all, a nice absorbing and a pleasant read.

Fantasy:The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting.Finished 8/2 (3*) I have read Fantasy before but this author is new to me. There were some things about this book I really enjoyed and others that I didn't. I liked Violet's special ability, how it was described and how her family dealt with it. But Violet made some foolish choices that distracted me a bit from the story line. There was also a very sweet friends-to-lovers storyline that was done well (except for the slightly annoying "make you jealous by using others" trick). I can't put my finger on it, but I didn't enjoy the author's voice as much as other YA Fantasy/Paranormal that I have read in the past. I was also surprised that for a YA, we were inside the mind of the killer as well as Violet. I'm not sure if I will continue with the series, but I will definitely continue with the genre.

This was my first time reading a BDSM book, overall enjoyed it. It had a decent story of a woman being introduced to BDSM while under threat of a violent stalker. The one thing that really annoyed me was that the heroine - a sex show host from LA - had so much of an issue with accepting that she was turned on by the BDSM stuff. I found that very hard to believe no matter what her ex had said to her; if they gave her any other background it would've made more sense. Reminds me why I like historical romances so much; since I don't know anything about the era (and don't care that much) it doesn't bother me nearly as much when the scenarios seem unbelievable. But I would read more in this series if they were cheaper on the kindle

2. Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah - I've only read one women's fiction - Good in Bed which I didn't like. So I was a bit apprehensive when I started this book. I am happy to say that I loved this book. I loved the character and friendship theme that was prevalent in the book. I cried at the end too. I'll most likely check out the author's other books as well.

This one was not quite as good as my previous Garwood. I enjoyed it but I must admit I still prefer Honor's Splendour better. I think it kills the fun to read Julie Garwood books quite frequent, the stories are pretty similar so I started to get bored at some parts. Jamie (still like Madeleine more) made me laugh out loud quite a few times :) And I liked Alec (loved Duncan and Ian), but still the whole story made me feel like, it was forced a little. And Jamie was sometimes unrealistically naive :D

I didn't expect it to affect me that much either. The author totally won me over with this book.

I have Night Road at my hand for about 6 months and after reading these comments decided to give it a chance right away. Hope it is as good...

I couldn't put it down, it was so well done. I feel like I found a new genre and a new author from this read. It was suspenseful and thought-provoking without being gory or scary. A great read!

1. Bonk: The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex- Non-fiction isn't something I typically enjoy, so I don't read much of it. However, I loved this one. I took this with me on a trip to Omaha even though I thought I might be uncomfortable reading it on the plane (but at least I'd be forced to read it since my other options would be limited). I wasn't. It was very funny though shocking in some sections. The lengths that people will go to I was surprised at the lengths some people are willing to go to. I often felt bad for the scientists, who have their research derided and their motives questioned. To all the prudes out there, lighten up this is important research. I think I will check out some of this authors other works. Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers sounds interesting.

Thanks Charlotte :)

2.Dangerous Cravings- Although I enjoy this sort of thing in real life, this is the first BDSM novel I've ever read. Contemporary: True Love and Other Disasters is the first book I've read from Rachel Gibson. You can predict who will fall in love with whom, but it was still fun to read. I would read more in this genre and more from this author.

Unlawful Contact by Pamela Clare - I love romantic suspense! It seems some of the best book I have read this year fall into this category. This is the third book in Pamela Clare's I-Team series, I read the first two earlier this year and I have to ask myself why did I wait so long to get back to this series!?! Ms. Clare is an amazing author, she moves me so deeply with her writing! So many things that happened in this book would have been wrong if handled differently - they even felt wrong in this book, but in the end I was able to excuse them. There were so many levels of gray in this book; good guys doing bad for all the right reasons, bad guys who looked like good guys... An awesome love story with a wonderful ending. I loved it! *5 Stars*

Erotic: This is one of my usual genres so I was totally in my element. Changing the Game is the second book in the Play by Play series by Jaci Burton. I really liked this one but some of it annoyed me. But, I love dominant men and strong women who like to be a submissive in the bedroom, so while not a BDSM book, it was right up my alley.

You just need to choose either Matched or Catching Fire for your Speculative Fiction or Dystopia category. Once you post the list it has to be final and you can't change it, so only one choice allowed. Thanks and happy reading!

The Prophet - I've read some inspiriational books before - mainly Mitch Albom and this book reminded me why I haven't read more. I know this book is a classic (I even had a reading from it when I got married over 10 years ago - I've had a copy of this book for longer than my marriage lasted). I finished it in about 3 hours - not because I devoured it - because it's only about 110 pages. I was frustrated by it, as every question was answered with a question. I was reminded a lot of Tuesdays with Morrie (or should that be the otherway round). I think it will be a while before I pick up another book of this type.

Erotic: Long Hard Ride -- I have read this genre before. I have to admit, it's not my favorite. In this book, a young, highly educated woman in search of adventure agrees to be the sex toy for 3 studly cowboys on the rodeo circuit. Not much of a plot; lots of graphic sex including menage and m/m. I got a little bored with this book and thought it was too long. The "hero" was way to alpha for my taste. 2 stars.
Historical: Seduce Me at Sunrise -- If I'm in the mood for a romance novel, I tend to pick historical. Lisa Kleypas does a great job with the genre. The dialogue is witty and the characters are multi-dimensional. I liked how the socio-economical impact of technology in the mid-19th century was acknowledged and discussed by the characters. I wanted to slap the hero a few times, but I guess that's to be expected. 4 stars.

Discussion:
GLBT:Hot Head is the first book I've read on this genre. I loved the 9/11 backstory, the vulnerability of Griff and the relationship between him and Dante before they got together. The sex scenes were detailed but not overtly explicit. The dialogue between Griff and Dante, their relationship and their chemistry was palpable from the beginning and very believable. I can say that I was surprised by this book, in a very nice way. Might read others in the genre.
Suspense OR Mystery:Trace of Fever is the second book on the Man Who Walk the Edge of Honor Series. I read the first book of the series and picked this one because I really liked the first one. However, I found that although it has great plot, characters and dialogue, it lacked mystery. Maybe that's because I had already read When You Dare which has the same human traficking backstory. I loved the banter between Trace and Priss, the sexual tension and the action, but throughout the story I felt like I'd already solved the mistery. All in all, a great romance.

Thanks Dee! Some some rec's my way, looking forward to it!

Discussion - Have I read this genre and what did I think of this book/author?
I loved it! *5 Stars*
That Perfect Someone by Johanna Lindsey - Johanna Lindsey wrote the book that hooked me on romance after having just started reading again after stopping while my kids were young, so I have a real soft spot for her books. That said, some of her recent books haven't always lived up to my memories. I'm happy to say this one did! I really enjoyed this book, it was sweet and funny. But don't read it thinking you are going to be reading a book about one of the Malorys - several of them are in it, even somewhat prominently, but neither the hero or the heroine is related in any way no matter how distant. I liked it anyway. =)
