I'm done with
. As per Steph' post:1. Date finished: 25 July 2010
2. Rating: ★★★★
3. Review: I loved this book. It reminded me why I liked the simple fantasy books with young heroes. The book sucked me right in within the first few pages. The Greek and the Roman myths were very interesting. I haven't read the Percy Jackson series (figuring they were HP wannabe) but now I'm thinking to pick them up as well. All in all, a lovely book to get lost in.
Oh has anyone read the Percy Jackson series? How's it? Recommended?

I read the whole series, too. It was fantastic!

Isn't it fun!!
The concert was phenomenal! The music was flawless, but the coolest part was the history lesson! Mac has seen it all...he was talking about playing with Jimi Hendrix, meeting the Russian government, how he met John, etc. He played for three hours and never stopped once...even to get a drink! He was a total gentleman. He still "bops" when he plays, just like in the 60s.
You Illinois ladies should look into seeing him at Wrigley field next weekend. I'm looking into tickets myself!
I just finished
too! Will this count for 4 stars as well or do we all have to pick different books? If I need to pick something different, I will. 1. Date finished: 25 July 2011
2. Rating: ****
3. Review: I liked it but I felt like I was missing a bit of the story because I didn't finish the Percy Jackson series. I've only read the first one, The Lightning Thief and haven't gotten caught up since then. I'll definately go back and catch up with those series though!
Don't worry, Suzanne. We could all read the same book if that's what we wanted. The book just HAS to be on the shelf.Eeep! I'm soo excited both of you read The Lost Hero. I've been dying for the second book to come out. October couldn't get here fast enough, IMO.
I read
by Susan Elizabeth Phillips.Date finished: 25 July 2011
Rating: ★★★★
Review: Not at all what I expected. The story is a serious one, about two people with problems and flaws that try to find their way. It does have some funny parts and it does have its fluffy moments, but in general it's a realistic story about interesting characters.
I didn't see the series is an ongoing one until I finished the book and tried to find the next. Oh well, I'll definitely finish the Percy Jackson series before then. If we do come across the amnesiac version, then I need to know him before that. Hmm, somehow I was not that big a fan of the first book of the Chicago stars. I'm especially not a fan of the ending. Are you planning to continue the series, Thenia?
Not a fan of the ending of the first book you mean? I think I will continue the series (I'm curious about Bobby Tom's story), but not right away. Have you finished the series? Did you like the following books more than the first one?
Yeah sorry, typing from my hand phone is not so good. I didn't like the ending so much. I finished the series. I liked all the books in the series - the first two being my least liked. I loved book #3, 4 and 6. If you like her writing, you could check out her other standalone -
(you should check it out for the premise - B**ch Queen returns for comeuppance),
- (not believable but very enjoyable).
I've read Ain't She Sweet and I liked it, that's why I decided to read more of the author's books. I'll be sure to check out Kiss an Angel. Sounds like fun! ^^ Thanks for the suggestion! ;)
How long do we have to read our selection for the free space? I'm going to read The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter, I saw someone else has that chosen and I already own it so I'm going to read it too.
There really isn't any time requirement for the free space Suzanne. Just that your team can't use the free space until each member of the team has read, rated, and reviewed a qualifying book for that space! It will be at least 4 weeks before a team needs the space , cuz it'll be that long before someone might be in a place where their team could make a Bingo
I just put the free space section there so we can start thinking about it or have time to read it when the weekly shelf book is finished. Happy Reading!!

Four Stars
Review: I love Chloe Neill! I've loved everything of hers...and I've read everything, so far. I didn't want to stop reading this book and there were many surprising elements along the way. Merit rocks, Ethan is super-sexy, Chicago is the best setting, too! I'm curious where the next book will take Merit. This one is hard to review because there are so many potential spoilers.
**Rule Clarification**
A couple of questions have come up related to books used for Bingo. Just in case you haven't seen the discussion on the Q&A pages, etc., we're posting it here. Happy reading!
* All books should be a minimum of 200 pgs. All others are more of a novella. This rule will be effective as of the 2nd shelf announcement, in case someone has already chosen and read one for shelf #1. (if you have read one for shelf #1, your read will count)
* No, graphic novels are not accepted.
Here is Steph's original announcement.
I'm 20 pages until I'm done with my book but will finish up in the morning with a review etc. Glad everyone's liking their reads, I like how for the 4 star category all of them have been rated 4 stars so far lol :)
Kristen, a question/suggestion. Could we have the list of the books for all the rounds in a post or two (in case we run out?) and maybe we can add a link to that post in the first page? It will be hard as the rounds go by and finding the posts could be difficult. What do you all think?
I think that's a nice idea Vi :)
Book/Author: Pride by Rachel Vincent
Date finished: 27 July 2011
Rating: ★★★★
Review: I liked 'Pride' a lot more than the first two books. I thought we saw a different side to Faythe although she still can't seem to keep her mouth shut lol. Instead of being annoyed with her I was much more frustrated by the council. They are just so inconsistent! Anyway I don't really want to say anything about the plot incase people haven't read 'Stray' or 'Rogue' since it follows on from events from these books. I have the next/final three books and although this series isn't my favourite, I'll definitely be reading these soon to find out what happens :)
Vi wrote: "Kristen, a question/suggestion. Could we have the list of the books for all the rounds in a post or two (in case we run out?) and maybe we can add a link to that post in the first page? Three stars
Review: I've now read everything by Stiefvater. I liked the story, but it wasn't my favorite. It didn't have her normal sass. It is hard to review this book without spoilers because it is the finale to the trilogy. The original story, Shiver, was all about Sam and Grace. Later she introduces more characters. In Forever, it seems like Cole takes center stage. He's the most dynamic and it seems like Stiefvater had a blast writing his character. I thought Sam seemed exhausted and stale.
Ok ladies, I made post 15 the master list to book lists.I don't know how to link to a specific post number. My html knowledge is really basic.
Kristen, to the right of every message number there is a date & time. It is a link, just right click on it and go to Copy Link Location, and remember the post #.You also need to use the (some html is ok) link above the comment box and copy the first one which is Link - I've added the asterisk so it would show -
<*a href="http://www.goodreads.com">my link text
so all up it would look something like this (without the asterisk of course)
<*a href="http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/5... #124
The best thing is you don't have to remember all the codes, it is simply cut and paste.
Just post again if you need more help, that's why we're here :)

Whoo hoo!! Thank you! I love learning.
I finished
for the 4-stars shelf.1. Date finished: 7/27/11
2. Rating: ★★★★½ (Had to give it 5 stars on Goodreads, no halfsies there.)
3. Review: Squeee!!! I really really liked it!! I don't really know what to say without spoiling anything. I only got like 3 hours of sleep before work the night I started reading it, cuz I couldn't stop.
Well, there are new demons in it, so that means trouble. There's definitely plenty of problems going on in this one.
Frannie has a new guardian angel that we get to know. I'm still iffy on how I feel about that person. You'll figure out what I mean if you read it.
Bit of a cliffhanger at the end. Not super bad, but still I wish I didn't have to wait till next year for Last Rite to come out.
Yay Alyssa! We're all done. And you are the only to give your '4 star' book something other than 4 star :)
I saw that. Haha. I barely got to read it for this shelf. Only 1 person has it listed as 4-stars. Granted that could mean that people just haven't shelved it that way or didn't like it that much. But, I prefer to think of it as a lot of people loved it and shelved it as 5 stars.
Vi wrote: "Yay Alyssa! We're all done. And you are the only to give your '4 star' book something other than 4 star :)"It's so funny that we agreed with everyone about the 4 stars! They were good books. I think we are the first ones finished, too. I'm shocked how quickly Suzanne and Vi got through The Lost Hero, that is a hefty book!
I really enjoyed Personal Demons and am looking forward to Original Sin. I'm glad you liked it, Alyssa.Back with your stamp in a minute :)
CONGRATULATIONS, Published Enemy #1! You now have an updated BINGO card with a stamp on '4 stars'.
[Your new BINGO card can be viewed on page 1]
Good Job!! :D
Wow, she (Steph) even hand delivers the stamp. Thanks, boss! :-D Wish it came with cupcakes though. *sighs*Hope you enjoy Personal Demons too, Steph!
*wolf whistles at Cindy* I love a woman in uniform. ;-) Especially if they bring cupcakes. *cough* Hint hint.... *cough*
Well - while you are waiting, I've been having to make your rounds for you. Sprinkling fairy dust, checking stamp availability, being perky....that last part is REALLY HARD for me!!!!! Oh - and I refuse to have to do inventory on the stamps. THIS IS MY VACATION!!!!!
Alyssa wrote: "Wow, she (Steph) even hand delivers the stamp. Thanks, boss! :-D Wish it came with cupcakes though. *sighs*Hope you enjoy Personal Demons too, Steph!"
:D Thanks, Alyssa. Sorry for the lack of sweets. Happy Stamp!
In case you guys are interested, here's a spreadsheet I made to keep track of everyone's bingo cards. Then you don't have to go to every team thread to see how the other teams are doing in regards to chip placement. :)All Bingo Cards
