OMG!! I HAVE to read that one! I was OBSESSED with David Cassidy when I was a young teen ( I am that old!) I had his posters all over my room. Just seeing the name of that book, I KNEW it was about D.C. ~sigh~ lol..

Lindy (lindylee) | 260 comments This is fun except for:

2. Birthday: Read a book from a March B-day celebrant’s GR bookshelf whose “day” falls on the same “day” as yours. If no one has the exact same day, then go for the closest date. (http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/2162...)

would rather see it switched to an author born or died in the month we are reading

The only author i know born on my day is a Chinese Children's Fantasy author Laurence Yep, and I am not into fantasy

I like picking from someone else's shelf because I see what other people liked. Of course, I always pick a book they rated 4 or 5.

Lindy, that catergory refers to the birthdays of the members of the group - there's a list of birthdays in the admin folder http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/2...

The way it works is if you were born on say the 13th of month check the list for someone that was born on the 13th of March and pick something from their bookshelf.

Hope this helps!

ErinsAlterEgo | 32 comments OK, I'm going to try for 10, should be easy, since I read 14 last month and it was a short month. ;) Thanks to all of you who posted you lists earlier so I could pull ideas from it! Here's what I have. Will update as I go along:

7 out of 10 Complete

X 1. March: Moon Called by Patricia Briggs

X 2. Birthday: Would Be Witch by Kimberly Frost (from bookshelf of ExoticRogue)

X 3. Geography: Tongue in Chic by Christina Dodd

X 4. Third Month: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

5. March Off to War: Beyond the Highland Mist by Karen Marie Moning

X 6. Mardi Gras: Mercy by Julie Garwood (also has a doctor as a main character, so would work for #8, too)

7. St.Patrick's Day: Of Blood and Honey by Stina Leicht - apparently the library can't get this book. I will probably substitute for one of the In Death series by JD Robb since Rourke is from Ireland.

8. Doctor's Day: Bonk: The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex by Mary Roach or Virgin River by Robyn Carr (will also count for #9)

X 9. Of Shelves and Lists: Welcome To Temptation by Jennifer Crusie

X 10. Reader's Choice : Wicked Appetite by Janet Evanovich

I know I have more than one listed for some categories, but it depends on what I can get from the library. I will update as I go along. I was told that you could choose one book for multiple categories if you wanted. True?

OK, I didn't complete this month. I wasn't able to get 2 of my picks from the library in time, and didn't find substitutes in time, either. The third one that I was missing, Bonk, I am still reading. It's an awesome, fascinating, disturbing book that I can only seem to take in small doses. I also got strangely busier this month, so I guess I will pick less next month.

Moon Called (Mercedes Thompson, #1) by Patricia Briggs Would-Be Witch (Southern Witch, #1) by Kimberly Frost Tongue In Chic (Fortune Hunter, #2) by Christina Dodd City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare Beyond the Highland Mist (Highlander, #1) by Karen Marie Moning Mercy by Julie Garwood Of Blood and Honey (The Fey and the Fallen, #1) by Stina Leicht Bonk The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex by Mary Roach Welcome to Temptation (Dempsey's, #1) by Jennifer Crusie Wicked Appetite (The Unmentionables, #1) by Janet Evanovich

Lindy (lindylee) | 260 comments Isn't that what i said you have to read someone born on your birthday, so I am born on June 14, and the only author i know who is is Laurence Yep

message 127: by Angela (last edited Feb 25, 2011 04:03PM) (new)

Angela (angieerickson) | 439 comments Hi Lindy, I'm pretty sure it's someone who's born on your birth day and the challenge month. So if you're born on June 14th, than you'd choose someone with a birthday on March 14th. That's how I understood it.

message 128: by Desperado (last edited Feb 25, 2011 05:11PM) (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 822 comments Yep, Angie is correct. It has nothing to do with an author born on your birthday. It's about a member who share the same birthday as you on the given challenge month. That's why there is a link attached so you can see what member shares the same b-day as you.

For example. My b-day is the 24th of Jan. This month I looked at the links to see if someone was born on March "24th". Since the closest was Joyce's on the 25th, I picked a book from her shelves.

message 129: by Jane (PS), Moderator (last edited Feb 25, 2011 05:15PM) (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Hi Lindy - Angie is right. You pick a book from the RRRC member (follow the link supplied in the rules) whose numerical date of birth in March most closely corresponds to your date of birth in your birth month. For example, I was born on August 13. I chose a book from Niquae's book list - her birthday is March 14. (No-one is listed for March 13, so I could choose from the members whose birthday were listed either side of March 13.) Good luck! :)

Lindy (lindylee) | 260 comments I found this birthday thing confusing, now how do i find out when people's birthdays are?

message 147: by N.L. (new)

N.L. Riviezzo (nlriviezzo) In message #1, you'll see a link under the Birthday description, it will take you to a page with the March birthdays listed. Choose a fellow group member who's birth day is the same date as yours or close to it then choose a book from their bookshelves to read.

Go to the first post of the challenge and as N.L. said click on the link thats posted under 2. Birthday. Then scroll down till you get to March.

You mentioned in an earlier post that your birthday is June 14th. In the March list there is only one name listed under # 14. It's niquae.

Click on niquae and you'll see her profile page. You can either just go to one of her bookshelves that interests you or click on the link "compare books" just below her profile. That will show you any books you and niquae have in common so you can select a book you already wanted to read anyway.

You can pick any book from her bookshelves for #2 of the challenge
