![]()
Kiss of Darkness by Jennifer St. Giles— 05/02
5.2 Read a book where the hero or heroine spends the book searching for or trying to get to their mother.
5.3 Read a BDSM book. (After all, isn't BDSM all about one person following the commands of another person and trusting that they will get you where they want to go? So it's really like a full contact adult version of Mother May I.).
6. "Mayday mayday mayday! We're going down!":
6.1 Read a book with a rescue worker of some type (coast guard, fireman, EMT are examples).
![]()

8. Maybe if things had been different... Maybe things will change in the future.... The world is full of maybes, might bes, and might have beens:
8.1 We're talking alternate realities here. Read a contemporary book where something is different in the world than what reality reflects. Maybe vampires do exist. Maybe magic is real. This might just be the easiest category ever.
8.2 Alternate futures are only slightly more challenging. That is a time filled with maybes. Read a book set in the future.
8.3 Past alternative realities might be the toughest. What if something was different in the past? Steampunk? What if the Axis won WWII? Read a historical with an alternative reality.

Tournament Duration: May 1, 2011 - October 31, 2011
Tournament rules:
* A maximum of 4 names from each book
* Books must be at least 150 pages
* Rereads are fine
* Audiobooks are fine
* Please note the date that you finished the book
* Slight spelling differences to the names are fine, but not the diminutive/shortened name. Eg Katherine/Catherine is fine; Kathy/Cathy is not if the name to be checked off is 'Katherine'.
* If you are searching for Katherine and the character is called 'Kat' BUT it is made clear that her full first name is actually 'Katherine', then that fine.
* If you are searching for a name that may already be a shortened form of a longer name, eg Anna, but the character's actual name is Annabel - as long as the character is actually called 'Anna' during the course of the book, then that is fine.
* You can sign up any time before 31st October; you can post books read before sign up BUT all of these books must have been read within the tournament's stated timeframe.
* Lists may be posted in advance or as you go. You may swap books on your list (if pre-posted) at any time.
* Books read may be used in other challenges.
* The person with the most names checked off by 31 October WINS!

Level Selection rules:
*You must select your level before you start the challenge
*Once you select your level, you cannot move up or down without penalty. You have until 15 July to make sure you are happy with your level selection.
*The penalty - You may apply to me to finish your bar session early if you have bitten off more than you can chew (eg. you have been aiming for stomach pumped but you can't even get tipsy - face it: you aren't as 'p*ss-fit' as you thought!). This session would show in the summary thread as 'incomplete'. But, if you wanted to, you could then start a new session as the team-driver, aiming for 'Stone-cold sober'.
*Some of you may decide to have a few big nights out, so that once you have achieved your desired level of intoxication you can go home and return the next night with a new alcoholic target. The new target must be new books but may involve your preferred drinks.
*As clarification - just because you have been 'tipsy' and 'drunk', that will not qualify you to be shown as 'passed out'.
Note: If you do apply to me to go home early, I want a really good excuse - eg the school yard bully from 30 years ago has just shown up and you are scared to drink in his/her presence...
General rules:
*Books from other challenges may be used
*Rereads are fine
*Book length of at least 100 pages
*Audiobooks are fine
*You can start
*Your list may be posted in advance or as you go. You may swap books on your list if you have pre-posted.
