Ok... well I may have bitten off more than I can chew with the Dark Hunter books... I'll make this a 2 year challenge if that's okay! I'll finish the Kelley Armstrong books by the end of 2011 and the Sherrilyn Kenyon books by the end of 2012 (but I'll try for sooner)
On the bright side... I think I actually own all of these I have to read

Dark Hunter is pretty ambitious. I have only read book Fantasy Lover. It is on my "I know I should" list. I need to post on that topic LOL. :)

Dark-Hunter is a perfect example of why I'm starting these two now. You never know how long a series will go on for. If I get a lot of recs for a series that has 10+ books, I get intimidated and am likely to pass it over for either one I'm already reading or a new one with less books to get current. Bad, but true.

I'm cross-challenging a ton of books for 2011. Haven't included these (two series above), but I'm sure they'll be added at some point.

Josie, you can start anytime. This one can start/end whenever you'd like. I may start reading some of mine in Dec, will just see how things go.

The only "requirement" here is that you read a series from beginning (or close to it) to the current release.
The first series that popped into my head was BDB, although I've read the first three. Is that close enough to the beginning? :)

I might come back later to change something (if that's allowed :) As for when I'll start, I'm not sure yet. Probably when the time for one of these book comes up, then I'll go from there!

I'm sure I will, they seem really good! BDB I've loved so far and I really enjoyed the prequel to IAD.

Stacy, I got the fifth book of her Hollows series a while back, but I never really made time to get the rest of them (hate reading a series out of order.) Mabye I should though, I'm kind of curious. :)

I'll post my series decisions once I've had a chance to gather them together.

I love this idea and very well may add more to my list and use this format. :)
ETA: I edited my list. What do you all think?

That's a great list! I've read the Hunger Games trilogy and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy and loved them both. I think you'll enjoy both of these.

About Chronicles of Narnia. What you have above is the "accepted" reading order now, but it's not the order I would use. They were originally published in a completely different order and when I read them the reading order was as follows:

Quite a few years ago, "they" decided the reading order should be chronoligical by Narnia time rather than by publishing history. Some people argue that this is the order Lewis wrote and intended them to be read, but that's not correct. Neither order listed here is the order he began or finished writing the books in, but publication date more closely follows the writing list. Also, if I had read Magician first, I don't know that I would have been hooked. It's not nearly as engaging as LWW. Disney movie producers have been smart and used the publishing order so far, following Lucy & company's adventures. Personally, any time I reread the series, I use the order I listed. The first four books follow the Pevensie children, family & friends as they discover and explore Narnia. The Horse and His Boy takes place during the reign of the Pevensie children in Narnia, but they are minor secondary characters. The focus of the story is obviously the horse and his boy. The Magician's Nephew goes back to the founding of Narnia, but it assumes you already know some basic information about Aslan and the land revealed in earlier books. The Last Battle takes place in a future Narnia/Earth and wraps up the series; there's no dispute that it should be read last.
Sorry if I bored you, 30 years later and I'm still passionate about these books. LOL. Hope you enjoy them.

Goal: By the end of 2011, finish at least two of the following series and read at least the first book in other series listed.
Shifters by Rachel Vincent

I read the first book when first published and wasn't captivated. Due to all the hype around here, I'm willing to give it another chance and read Rogue.
Final Prophecy by Jessica Andersen

Argeneau by Lynsay Sands

Immortals After Dark by Kresley Cole

I think I read the first one a long time ago, but I don't remember. I'll definitely start from #1.
Broken Heart Vampires by Michele Bardsley

Just read the first book and plan to continue with the rest.
Darkness Chosen by Christina Dodd

Scent of Darkness, Christina Dodd, 1-19-11, 3.5 stars
Quick fun read. Lots of loose ends, but I was expecting that. At this point, I'm planning on reading the entire quartet to see how things play out.
The Chosen Ones by Christina Dodd

Nocturne City by Caitlinn KittredgeCaitlin Kittredge

I've read the first one and have books 2 & 3 on my TBR.
Love at Stake by Kerrelyn Sparks

I read book 1 back in 2005 when it first came out. I remember enjoying it, not quite sure why I didn't continue. Will probably restart with the first one though.
Blades of the Rose by Zoe Archer

No, no! You didn't bore me at all. I actually have the set with the covers you have listed. :) They belonged to my brother when he was a little boy so they are sentimental. I believe that is the way they are numbered in the set and that is how I will read them. I will change my list. I hope people join me in reading them. I am going to continue with Voyage of the Dawn Treader to follow the movie order as well.

Kitty Norville by Carrie Vaughn

Chicagoland Vampires by Chloe Neill

Great list, AV.
I like the idea of starting with two, but keeping it going if you/we complete our initial goal. I'm all for it.
Welcome to the challenge, guys! Lots of great series listed! Can't wait to hear what everyone thinks of them.
I'm adding ... If I start a series (completely new2me) and don't like book #1 (1-2★), I will remove that series from the list and add another in it's place. I'm hoping that won't happen, but ya never know.

Thank you! :)

Lol, I keep looking at series people have listed and thinking 'I'll read that one too!'
Thank you Daffodil for the explanation on 'The Chronicles of Narnia'. Having never read the books, I was surprised when I saw that The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe wasn't the "first" in the series and would've just read them in the order GRs gave them. :)

Series Read
At the moment, I have two series I want to read in 2011. Well, many more than two, but two specific series that I've heard a bunch of good things about this year and decided to dive in.
Anyone is welcome to join me! I'll post my updates here, if you'd like to join me in reading these series, please do. If you'd like to list a series of your own to read thru to the current release, you're welcome to do that instead/as well.
There are no set dates for this challenge. But, I am aiming to complete both series by the end of 2011.
ETA: Challenge Rules ... There are none. :) If you'd like to join in, you can read 1+ series. You can start now or in 2011. It's all up to you. The only "requirement" here is that you read a series from beginning (or close to it) to the current release. If you decide to run your challenge through 2012, you can read up to a 2012 release, etc.
It's okay, embrace the freedom! LOL! Thanks for joining me! This way I'll stay motivated to read/finish the two I've listed. :D
