Dark-Hunter #7

Sins of the Night

Rate this book
In the realm of the Dark-Hunters there is a code of honor that even immortal bad boys must follow:

Harm no human. Drink no blood. Never fall in love.

But every now and again a Dark-Hunter thinks himself above the Code. That's when I'm summoned. Who am I? I'm the one thing the fearless fear. Step over the line and it's my wrath you will face. Nothing can touch me. Nothing can sway me. I am relentless and unfeeling.

Or so I thought until I met a female Dark-Hunter who goes by the name of Danger-it's not just her name, it's how she lives her life. She doesn't trust me at all. And who could blame her? She alone knows that I'm here to be judge, jury and most likely executioner of her friends. Yet she is my key to saving some of them. Without her, they all will die.

Dangereuse St. Richard is a deadly distraction. Something about her is reawakening a heart I thought was long dead. But in a race against evil, the only hope mankind has is that I do my duty. And how can I do my duty when it means that I will have to sacrifice the only woman I've ever loved?

Danger or Dangereuse St. Richard (Hunter) and Alexion (Shade)

The Prologue of the book was quite frightening. That’s because I hadn’t realized before that Dark Hunters can go bad... And because I had not seen a bad Dark Hunter before in action. Daimons were our usual good looking, disgusting human soul-eaters.

Later , I happily visited Katoteros, i.e. the place where Acheron, Simi and Alexion live. Alexion is the one that has been watching over Simi and kept her out of trouble for a few thousand years.

“Where’s my plastic, Lexie?”

Simi apparently loves shopping and she does not know the value of money. Simi will be confused in this book because there will be a family reunion for her.

Alexion on the other hand will meet again his old friend Kyros. I highly recommend that you read the short novel “The Beginning (Dark-Hunterverse 0.5)”, if you want to learn the tragic story of Alexion and how he became firstly a dark hunter and later on a kind of Shade.

Alexion will meet Danger when he visits the human realm again on a mission. Danger is French and she became a Dark Hunter during the French Revolution. These two lonely souls will find each other and will connect during difficult times when Acheron has disappeared and a number of Dark Hunters are about to turn against him.

“Sleep in peace, Danger. I won’t let anything hurt you. I promise.”

I’m not satisfied with this book. Sins of the Night is mediocre at best, both in storyline, characters, and style.

The story starts good, a paradoxical situation given and a man (or being) without equal. That already makes you expect something peculiar.
Doubt stared out from the dark depths of her eyes. “Then prove it.”
That was easier said than done. “Prove it how? The only way to prove to you that I’m not out to kill you is to not kill you.”

But it is all ruined. Another rebellion against Acheron? Really? How stupid one has to be to try this?

The romance resembles the plot of Dance with the Devil. There Astrid was to judge Zarek, and as they were locked together they had the opportunity to get to know each other. In Sins of the Night Alexion is here to judge Danger and other Dark-Hunters. The story is mainly about the two of them, the development of their relationship. But while the development of the love between Zarek and Astrid was impressively detailed, the delineation of Alexion and Danger’s love is superficial.

The story is of full of repetitions. Not only phrases, but action-lines, and thoughts are repeated as well.
• The reader is continuously reported to about Alexion’s thoughts revolving around his loneliness, his inability to taste, to feel, etc.
• You are also told many times how Danger was betrayed and killed by her husband – yes, it’s sad, but repeating it again and again doesn’t make it more impressive.
• Danger is repeatedly surprised by Alexion’s godlike powers. Even Alexion finds it strange.
The dialogues are monotonous and all alike.
• Repetitions in the erotic scenes: page 182: “… a moment before she pulled her shirt…” – page 184: “… an instant before he pulled her pants…”; page 184 – “… he swore he saw stars…” – page 185 – “… she swore she saw stars…”

The story didn’t touch me as much as it should have. I didn’t feel their emotions, their sufferings, doubts. I couldn’t see the reason for falling in love with one another. Their HEA is solved by deus ex machina, a.k.a. Ash. Fate can’t be changed, but there is always a loophole, isn’t there?

The main characters
Alexion was the third Dark-Hunter Artemis had created. He became a Shade as his beloved wife’s love wasn’t pure toward him, and she had dropped the medallion that contained his soul. Acheron felt himself responsible, and brought him back from Shadedom in a certain form. Now he could only observe life, he couldn’t live it. He has no emotions, nor a corporeal form, but has godlike powers. He is incarnated here on Earth for only ten days to rout a Dark-Hunter rebellion. One of the renegades is his once-best friend, Kyros, whom he knows more than 9000 years.
He was Acheron’s Alexion, an Atlantean term that had no real translation into English. Basically, he would do whatever was necessary to protect Acheron and Simi. And he truly meant “whatever”. He had no conscience. No morals. In his world, the only right was Acheron’s will. It governed everything about him. Yes, he could and did argue with Acheron at times, but at the end of it all, he was Acheron’s protector. He would always do what was in Acheron’s best interest no matter the personal or physical cost to himself.

Alexion’s character is erratic: once he is rigid, cold, and nonchalant, then suddenly he is lecherous and funny. His thoughts revolve around how he misses tasting food, his sorrow that he has no feelings, that he is so lonely, and how much he wants to have sex. He has much more difficulties with his erection than the dilemma of judging his best friend, Kyros.

Danger was betrayed and killed by her husband during the French Revolution, so you would think it would be difficult for her to trust a man again. Well, she is so impressed by Alexion’s superpower that she easily forgets about the trust issue.

I was told about Danger’s “inner glow, warm”, but I didn’t feel it either. In the first half of the story she is constantly wondering about Alexion’s powers, as if she weren’t a paranormal being as well. This wow-you-have-so-cool-powers thing seemed so fake.

Secondary characters
Urian…

Dark-Hunters

Dark-Hunter enters, expresses his skepticism, Dark-Hunter leaves. Then comes another one, repeat… It was like a stage play with very limited facilities.

The newly introduced

The action scenes are totally unbelievable. Right before the first fight, Alexion and Danger have a three-page-long conversation with the Daimons they are supposed to be fight with! Is there really that much time for chatting before a fight? Except for the final fight scene, which is pretty exciting and monumental, and a seriously significant fact is revealed (for Stryker), they get over the problems and attacks boringly quickly.

All in all: two stars!

This is another compelling and entertaining book in Dark-Hunter series! It had me hooked from the very start.

The romance in this story is not as good as the previous one. Although I felt no chemistry between Alexion and Danger, it wasn’t important because the author kept me busy concentrating mostly on the Dark-Hunters and the Daimons instead. Moreover, the story was so intense and exciting that it pulled me into this story completely.

After reading 6 books in this series, Acheron has never stopped to amaze me with his generosity and all the things he had done for humans and Dark-Hunters. The more I’ve known about him, the more I want to read his book!

I know this is not a good review and I'm so sorry for that. But I have to be quick because I need to jump right into the next one now!

So, straight onto Unleash The Night!

Ay no sé qué va hacer de mi no puedo dejar esta serie NO PUEDO! !

This book is the story of Alexion (the boy), and Danger (the girl). That's right, Danger is her first name! That's just not right!

Everyone knows that Danger is a middle name, not a first name!

Alexion lives with Ash in his weird-ass castle in another dimension as his butler/secretary. But, it seems there may be a little more going on than that since he is also known as Simi's "other father".
"I'm Acheron's Squire." it was kind of true. Okay, not really. It was a lie, but Alexion had no intention of letting anyone know his real relationship with Acheron.

Christmas gift for Simi.

Okay, okay.. I'm just kidding. Alexion is definitely hard-up because he gets sent down to earth to stop a rebellion against Ash that will end in the deaths of many Dark Hunters, but all he can think about is jumping Danger's bones. And, Danger is kind of a jerk at first, so he isn't too picky. She even stabs him in the heart within minutes of meeting him, but he's okay with that. Sheesh, if only my ex-husband had felt that way. Could have avoided time in the pokie. But, I digress...

Just like the last book, this one was pretty blah. He constantly whines about how much it sucks to be a lonely guy, and she spends too much time not believing him. But, she is also magically attracted to him. *eye roll*
Get ready for your eyes to roll out of your head too because this line was actually in the book:
She wasn't sure if she should kiss him or kick him.

I do have to give some credit to the author, though, because it takes a lot of nerve to write that sentence and expect to get away with it.

The only good part of this book was that we meet Simi's sister and she is just what you would expect. Fun!

This is where Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series jumps the shark, in my opinion. This is NOT a romance novel, instead, is a book that expands on and expounds Kenyon's world and Kenyon's mythos. Boring, and not what I wanted.
...

Alexion (real name: Ias) is a ... well, I'm not exactly sure what he is. A very powerful being that is second only to the gods. He is Ash's right hand and it is his job to execute Dark-Hunters who turn against Ash and start killing humans.

He has no personality. Except being horny. And that's not a personality, in my opinion. Kenyon has created such good heroes up until now (good as in well-developed) and this is weak. Really weak. I can't enjoy reading about a hero who has about as much personality as a piece of cardboard.

There was nothing sexy or attractive about this character.
....

Then we have our heroine, the Dark-Huntress Dangereuse St. Richard. She goes by "Danger." Yeah, I can't believe it either. I was rolling my eyes a lot. Especially at the cheesy lines:

What he wouldn't give for a taste of Danger.

Nothing better than the feel of Danger.

Really?! REALLY!?!?!!?

Anyway, she was murdered by her husband during the French Revolution for being the daughter of an aristocrat. She has more personality than Alexion, but I didn't find her very compelling. She is a great fighter, and sassy, and brash. But she wasn't caustic or irritating like Tabitha (from Seize the Night was). Still, I wasn't exactly thrilled to be spending time with her and I wasn't attached to her. I didn't care if she and Alexion killed each other, had sex with each other, or died for each other... Whatever.

I just can't ever get into a story where two immortal, powerful, near-unkillable beings who have no real problems and also eternal life fall in love with each other. I just don't care. I need at least ONE human to relate to.

....

Part of the reason I feel so "meh" about this couple is that their love story takes a backseat to Kenyon's world-building. This isn't really a love story between Alexion and Danger - it's a book about who Ash really is, what demons really are, how the gods feel about each other, Ash's past, blah blah blah I don't care. Listen, I'm not reading these books because Kenyon is some master fantasy storyteller, okay? I'm reading them because (usually) they are sweet love stories with falling in love and kissing. Usually I can count on Kenyon to give me some adorable love stories about redemption and trust, and also write really good kissing and sex scenes. She just bores me to tears when she tries to leave this formula and instead explain to me all about the mystical creatures in her world. I don't care.

...

So with a couple of boring protagonists and a dominating theme of "this is my mythos," I cannot recommend this book in good conscience. Unless you are a huge Kenyon fan and the idea of exploring her world with a fine-toothed comb appeals to you.

...

Oh, and the plot is very, very STUPID. So stupid. Basically, the Dark-Hunters are being approached by a demon named Stryker who is trying to convince them that Ash is not a good person and is instead an evil man who doesn't care if they die.

This is ridiculous because Ash is the one who gave them immortal life, granted them revenge on their enemies, made them all millionaires, and also gave them servants. I have NO IDEA why they would ever doubt and hate him, and Kenyon does not give me any good reason to believe they would revolt.

This same demon is encouraging them to eat humans, because absorbing humans will give them amazing powers (according to him.) WHY WOULD YOU EVER PUT YOUR TRUST IN SOMEONE WHO IS TRYING TO CONVINCE YOU TO KILL AND EAT PEOPLE?!?!?!!? I just couldn't understand the rampant stupidity in this book.

Basically, Kenyon is setting up this whole book so Acheron = Jesus and Stryker = Satan. Stryker comes along and tries to convince everyone that God Acheron doesn't really love them and that they should turn their backs on Him him. But Jesus Acheron really loves all his little children Dark-Hunters and it hurts him personally to see them turn away from his light and salvation goodness and mercy.

It's very heavily borrowing on Christian themes.

I also didn't like Kenyon portraying Kyros and Danger struggling with whether to believe Stryker or not. It was just laughable and ridiculous. There's no possible way for Kyros or Danger to make any sort of decision because they are way, way below the gods and have no insight into their workings and schemes. It's beyond stupid. Not only are the characters acting stupidly, but the plotline itself is moronic.

...

Just like in Seize the Night, I wasn't crazy about the sex in this novel. I mean, it was not BAD, but it was nowhere near satisfying basically because I don't give a fig about the main couple.

Also, I got sick and tired of hearing Alexion complain about how horny and aroused he was all the time. There's no need for that, just jerk-off, why don't you? Do they not have masturbation in this universe? He was CONSTANTLY whining about his 'needs' and his near-constant state of arousal and I was like, "You have two functioning hands. Go take care of it!" Jeez Louise! Also, Alexion, you were sent down here by God Acheron in order to kick ass and take names, in order to separate the wheat from the chaff, in order to bring those who can be saved salvation. Start doing your job and stop obsessing over your penis!!! For flip's sake.

Book 8 in the Dark Hunter series gives us a break from New Orleans and all of the drama that goes down in that city. Instead, we are in Mississippi with a much smaller cast of characters than in previous books.

Alexion is our hero, and he also happens to be Acheron’s right-hand-man (except he’s not really a man, he’s an ‘other’ – not going to be spoilery here, read it and find out!). Anyway, Alexion is sent in as judge, jury and executioner for a bunch of Dark Hunters that have gone rogue. He meets Dangereuse (another stupid name), our first female Dark Hunter, who is quite the sarcastic, kick-ass heroine! And together they set about saving as many Dark Hunters as they can from being tricked into turning against Acheron.

I loved Alexion! He is such a Good Guy. I loved the loyalty and protectiveness that he felt towards his loved ones (particularly Ash), he was truly prepared to kill or be killed to protect those he cared about. As expected in this series, he also has a tragic backstory, but he seems a lot more accepting of it than some of the previous boys in the series, and doesn’t dwell on his hideous past or let it affect him or who he is.

He and Danger were a great match and the two of them had some brilliantly wicked banter. I was laughing out loud when the two of them sat and watched ‘Troy’ together and, in between comparing the butts of Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom, he absolutely picks the movie to pieces (because he had been there, of course). Classic!

What I loved most about them though is that they were so honest with each other. And when Alexion told Danger about himself, and what that meant for their future, they didn’t immediately fall into a ‘woe is me’ depression. They continued on in their relationship.

We also got a number of spoilers to help in unravelling the mystery – WTF is Acheron? There are still a lot of books to go before we get to Ash’s story, but bits and pieces are coming together slowly. He wasn’t in this book as much as others, but the bits we got of him were still awesome :)

So, more swoony romance, more humour, and heaps more steam from Ms Kenyon. The ending was a wee bit teary, and actually reminded me of one of the BDB books (I won’t say which because it will give away the ending). Oh, and there was also a bit of development in Simi’s story which was interesting.

A great addition to the series, I look forward to more of the story unfolding.

I thought this was a unique turn for the Dark Hunter series, but......the end was kind of depressing. A lot of the Dark Hunters died in this book, and what happened with Danger just wasn't the ending I wanted. I tried to convince myself that Danger and Alexion are happy where they are...but everyone thinks that Danger is dead. SOB!!!

I just think that Ms. Kenyon, who can pull happy endings out of nowhere, could have ended this book on a more upbeat note.

That's why I can only give this one 3 stars. Definitely not one of my favorite DH books, even though I really liked Alexion and Danger, both individually, and as a couple.

Posted on Under the Covers

Her name is Danger and she is a female Dark Hunter. She used to live a life of sin when she first became a Dark Hunter, but now, her suspicious eyes land on Alexion, an unexplainable new pawn in this deadly game. All Danger knows is that Alexion is a major threat to her and her friends. It’s very likely that he has been sent to execute them, but despite this threat, there’s this inexplicable pull that lures her closer and closer to him. Will he strike or will he succumb to her desires?

SINS OF THE NIGHT seems much more lighter in tone than some of the other books in the series. Despite the dire threat of Alexion and what he has come to do, Danger’s wit seems to really shine through and gives this book such a rich backdrop to explore Alexion’s character and see what makes him crack. Danger lays on her charm thick and Alexion doesn’t really stand a chance at stone-walling her. They hit it off and though this still isn’t my favorite book of the series, it’s still a solid instalment for the Dark Hunters.

Sherrilyn Kenyon always writes one or two awesome scenes in each book and for this particular one, the Troy scene really made me laugh. I love SK’s humor and it’s nice to have a balance between all the action and the hot-and-heavy scenes. Something light to lift your spirits certainly makes a good book even greater.

OMG! Kenyon had me scared for a bit with this one! I couldn’t believe the plot twists and turns that popped up throughout. I definitely could have never imagined it but the entire plot came together seamlessly. She had me both laughing and crying throughout. At the same time, she continues to build her world and the mythology surrounding it, allowing everything to coalesce into something that you can picture yourself walking through.

The lead couple in this novel was definitely unexpected. I love the way that they came together and got to know one another. The relationship was complex and bent the norms that Kenyon has set out for the series. The supporting cast was great too. Simi and her sister are priceless. They are the best comical interlude ever. Kenyon also gave more and more insights into Acheron’s character. I love the way that he’s gradually unfolding and becoming such a complex and intriguing character.

This novel was a fantastic addition to the series. I enjoyed it thoroughly and can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!

I found this book somewhat interesting with regards to the overall storyline, but I felt no connection to the MCs or even between them. I was really turned off by the hero's desire to get laid at all costs and just felt the heroine was serving his purpose. I know they developed something more, but I never felt it.

I don't think much was revealed in this one, but learned a little.

Loved Xirena. She and Simi will be hilarious in future books.

Horrible. Absolutely horrible. Maybe my opinion is skewed because I read this moments after finishing Tabitha's book, and Danger was another "I kick ass for a living" chicks - too similar. I now prefer Tabitha to Danger, wow.

Danger: She's a myopic pain. Alexion arrives & says he's here from Ash to save the DH's and what does Danger do...she stabs him before speaking to him and then for 75% of the book rants about her loyalty to her fellow DH's over everyone else. She's like a child who plugs their ears & chants "la la la la" so they can't hear reason.

Alexion: Boring. He's Ash's "right hand man" supposedly, but I'd more call him a butler-secretary. I like his relationship with Simi, but otherwise he's boring. And he doesn't wield his borrowed gifts very well at all. Inept corporeally.

Best parts: Simi! And any of the scenes that occurred at Ash's home. Ash was kind of boring as well in this book, oddly enough. More info about what Ash is & does.

Why 1 star: I was bored with this book and most of the characters, I wish I'd skimmed more in the beginning, but I truly did give it a 100 page chance. The whole book was lackluster & it made me care for no one. And Danger is even more annoying than Tabitha, which I didn't know was possible; Danger is a one trick pony in this, Tabby did have more than one.

I'm ready to harm these books if the next one sucks as badly.

Well, I was underwhelmed with this one. The books in the series are starting to become too repetitive for me that I can predict what will happen next. At the same time my curiosity over Asheron (sorry, I listen, so spelling is probably wrong) and the fact that there aren't many PNR books to read, I will probably continue on.

Otherwise, this book was meh. The insta love once again bothered me. Yes, I did feel the connection between the characters, but I didn't feel the "love" when they declared it. And it seems this series is just an insta-love series. Other PRN books, I don't have that problem even when "love"happens quickly. So something is missing that I can't quite figure out.

Despite the rating, this book was good and most PNR lovers will probably enjoy it. Four stars is my baseline. So if the book wasn't "good", I have to give it less. But it's probably a 4 or more stars read for most PNR readers.

Sins of the Night is the eighth book in Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series and one of my favorites, by far. In Sins of the Night, we get the story of Alexion, a former Dark-Hunter doomed for Shadedom that Acheron manages to save, and Danger, a feisty French Dark-Hunter, betrayed in her human life by her very own husband. Alexion is sent by Ash to judge the Dark-Hunters of Mississippi, deciding which will die and which will live, and he is sent to stay with Danger during his ten-day stint as a human. In the beginning, Danger does not trust Alexion but they eventually build a mutual trust which leads to a deep, passionate love. Despite all Lex's attempts to keep Danger safe and out of the hands of the illustrious Stryker and the Dark-Hunter gone bad (then gone good again) Kyros, Danger is killed by an Atlantean dagger. Just when all hope is lost, Acheron surprises Lex and brings Danger back to life as "other" so they may finally have their happily ever after.

I love Alexion. I think he is one of my favorite male characters in this series. He is so sexy, witty, fiery, sarcastic, and just all-around delicious. I loved how protective he was of Ash and how staunchly he defended Acheron against the ridiculous accusations of the Dark-Hunters led astray by Stryker. His paternal love for Simi was so sweet and it was nice to see that extend to Xirena, also, when she came into his life. I love that he hated Artemis because I also hate the bitch; he's a man after my own heart! He was sweet to Danger and treated her like a man should. His compassion and dedication to trying to save his former best friend was completely respectable and I loved him even more for it; therefore, I felt his pain when he realized that nothing he could say would change Kyros' mind.

Danger has got to be one of the best females in this series. She is intelligent, sarcastic, strong, and sexy. She is not afraid to stand up for what she believes, and she has dealt with the hardships and betrayls of her human life surprisingly well. Like with characters such as Simi and Tabitha, I love that she says what she means and means what she says. She is honest and loving. Danger was very funny and she had me laughing throughout much of this novel.

I was very glad to see how Xirena came to be bonded to Alexion. I have not read this series in order so I was always a little confused as to how she came to be with Lex. I thought it was hilarious that she was actually sent to kill him and ended up working with him. It was, also, very interesting to see her being...submissive to Alexion. Like any demon, Xirena has a mind of her own and is not afraid to share it, so it was nice to see her quelled by Alexion and Acheron a couple of times.

I think this is the first book where I actually could not stand Stryker. Normally, I like him pretty good for a villain, but this time I wanted to choke him all the time. Now, I know he is Ash's enemy and everything, but the things he was saying about Ash...I wanted to kill him. No one says bad things about my Acheron and gets away with it! And that little stunt he pulled, pretending to have Danger's soul, was so not cool and I was very glad when he got pissed because Alexion knew he didn't actually have her soul.

One of my favorite parts, though, was when Danger and Alexion were watching Troy. I thought it was hilarious that Alexion was pointing out all the historical inconsistencies throughout the movie, and that Danger got jealous when he was talking about how beautiful Helen of Troy really was.

In this book, it seemed to me like there was more sex than there was in some of the other Dark-Hunter books, and I liked that. It was reminiscent of Talon and Sunshine's sex marathons.

Also, I have to say that I was utterly thrilled by the complete lack of Artemis in this book. Thank you, God!

This book was utterly fantastic and I would definitely re-read this book over and over again. Alexion and Danger are the perfect characters and the perfect couple.

This was definitely one of my faves in this series..

I seriously loved Alexion, Lex, Ias, hottest shade ever, whatever you want to call him.. He was just my kind of guy.. True, I prefer them living, but hey, I'm not picky.. ;o)

Alexion and Danger (what a great name!) were just too perfect together. I loved their going back and fourth, the way they played of each other so amazingly..

I LOVED how little we get from other peoples POV in these books, but I guess I say that in every review.. I loved that we got a new Demon to go along with Simi, because she is just too freaking funny..

I loved that we didnt get one thing from Artemis, cause... yeah.. She's just a bitch.. And I can say the same about Stryker.. Grrrr.. God, I wanted to kill that dude while reading this book..

Of course I always love when we get some more info on Ash, which we definitely did in this one.. I soooo cant wait for his book.. But I'll get there.. Just have to read.. you know, about a million more, but I'll get there..

And what happened to all the sex we got in this book?? *speechless* I mean, we even got a 69'er ?? What? Thats just crazy! But I'm sooo not complaining.. Hope she keeps it up in the next book.. ;o)

Alexion ven a mí !!!

When I first read that Sins of the Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon was about Alexion, I thought “who?” Thanks to my ‘Book Brain Fart Syndrome’, I couldn’t place him right away. But once I started reading it I thought “Oooooh, that guy!” I must say that at first, I found it a little odd that this next Dark-Hunter book was about Acheron’s assassin/savior dude. I mean, with all those Dark-Hunters that we’ve only just met, there were so many other possibilities. But as I read on I got quite excited because a book about Ash’s assassin/savior dude meant that we were going to get quite the insight into Ash himself. And that is something I am all for.

Before getting into Acheron and what we learn about him, let’s talk about Alexion and Danger. Alexion is a wonderful character who really managed to pull on my heart strings. His human story is tragic, don’t get me wrong, but many of the other books feature far worst back stories. It’s his current situation that has me feeling blue. Acheron may have saved him from a tortured eternity thousands of years ago, but it wasn’t without consequences. I loved how Alexion feels about Simi (love!) and even how loyal Alexion is to Ash. All in all, he’s a good solid character befitting of this series.

Danger is a Dark-Huntress. This is the first time we really meet a Huntress. She loves what she is and she loves what she does. She does miss her family from when she was human and finds her existence to be quite lonely, but I liked her overall attitude. She was tough but not overly so. She still has heart even though she could totally kick butt.

Danger and Alexion were both screwed over by their spouses back when they were human. I liked that they had that in common but really not much else. But they worked well together. They were a sweet couple.

The villain is not new but his new twists and tricks are. Styker. Man I hate that guy. Not as much as I hate Artemis, but he’s still a piece of work. Dark-Hunter book #16 is about Stryker and I’m actually a little curious about him. He’ll forever be a jerk, but I’m still curious about him.

Speaking of curious, let’s talk about the curious-est one of them all: Acheron. I love this character. And with every book, I love him even more. He’s not in this book a whole lot, but we learn a lot about him thanks to Alexion and the stories he tells Danger about Ash. Does it clarify things about him? Not really. But it brings a couple things to light and it makes me want to know more more more. Actually, at the end of every book I want to know more more more. But alas, I still have seven more books before I get to his book. *sigh*

Overall, as usual, I found Sins of the Night to be a good book and a good addition to this series. I am truly enjoying these books. Each time I close one, I want to immediately open another. Each time I crack open the cover for the next installment, I feel a little giddy and a huge smile lands on my face because I know I’m about to read a book that I will undoubtedly enjoy.

May contain plot spoilers:

Book 8 was not as good as the last 2 Dark Hunter books I've read, but that might be because it centered around a female Dark Hunter. And who do we really read the books for? The men. Well, I read them for the men.

Danger, the female Dark Hunter, just didn't endear herself to me like some of the other female characters (e.g. Grace and Amanda) but the story receives 4 stars because of all of the information it gave on Acheron, who is my favorite character in the books.

The plot is basically that there is a confrontation brewing between the Minnesota Dark Hunters and Acheron, and he sends in his 'squire,' Alexion, to check things out.

All in all it was a fun read, and made me want to continue reading the series to find out what happens next.
