I agree Jacqui. It is dreadful, isn't it?

Wonderful Zoey! Enjoy while you can, as Mish says. It's also wet and cold here in Newcastle, with severe weather alerts happening, but as Margaret says, we need the rain!!

Jessy (snuggleglooms) | 381 comments This is how Cairns weather has been today

Sunny, but its clouding over!! Top of 30 degrees humidity at 61%!! lol I hate to brag but I love this time of year!!! Nice and warm but without the massive humidity of the wet!!! Plus the days are warm enough to warm the pool for me to collapse in after my training nightly lol

Cairns would be great right now...when we went on holidays up there a couple of years ago, we went in August...it felt humid to me then! But the locals said no, it wasn't humid then;)

Our last english lesson was spent lying on the lawn under the beautiful blue sky. Today we sat indoors with the heater on, freezing.

Tracey Alley (traceya) | 485 comments It's been pouring with rain all day here in 'sunny QLD' or at least, in my corner of the world. I love the rain but hate the side affects - the dogs smell bad, my laundry & bathroom always get wet & Robbie [the husband] does nothing but complain all day long - it'd give anyone a migraine I swear!

I mentioned previously that I'd written an actual letter to my best friend... she's a fabulous lady and we've been friends for over 20 years now. Well she received the letter today and rang me, in tears no less, to say how beautiful it was and what a change from her normal mail. I expected her to be shocked/surprised by the letter but had no idea it might reduce her to tears. I had just said in the letter basically how much I appreciated her friendship over all the years and how supportive she has always been of me and my, sometimes, crazy ideas. We've decided from now on we're going to actually write to each other at least once a month so we each have something we can keep - unlike a phone call or text message. It felt kinda nice :)

That's so lovely, Tracey: and very true: emails don't have the keepsake value of letters. Maybe the world should be reminded of this.:)

Oh Tracey, that's so absolutely gorgeous! How nice:) It's such a shame that letter writing has gone by the way of all other un-modern things, but nice that you will continue with it!

message 6761: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments Tracey thats gorgeous! I've kept a number of text messages by screen shotting them, but its certainly not the same. Thats a lovely idea in todays world.

Very ordinary weather at the moment, I'm afraid...the only good thing is, the gardens are happy (and the ducks!)

Tracey Alley (traceya) | 485 comments Well, the rain has stopped but it's left a very cold wind behind. I've got to go shopping this afternoon but I'm not really looking forward to going out in the cold... I'd rather snuggle up in bed with a book.

Melanie -- it certainly makes *no one* feel better that you're cold *or* sick. Do you have a space heater you can use to warm your immediate environment? I'm sure we all want you to bundle up and get well.

That's classic Melb weather!!! Its worse in summer where it can be 40 degrees one day and 25 the next!!! Your body just can't keep up with it!!! One of the reasons I hated living in Melbourne!!!

message 6778: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Alley (traceya) | 485 comments Get well soon Melanie - we definitely don't want you to be cold or sick :)

As for snow - I lived in New Zealand for two years when I was younger and saw lots of snow [first time for this Gold Coast beach bunny] and after the initial 'oh that's so pretty' all you end up with is that it's cold, wet and white! Snow is fine when it's outside your window on a chilly night while you're rugged up warm in front of a roaring fire, otherwise it's just plain miserable. And snow fights aren't all they're cracked up to be either - no one likes frostbitten fingertips, trust me lol

It NEVER snows here. When .01 inches descend from the sky, the schools immediately close. No one knows how to drive in it. (Of course, no one knows how to drive, anyway.)
