Geoff Woodland | 313 comments A few weeks ago I was in Hay on Wye in the UK, which is on the border between England and Wales. It is famous for its second-hand bookshops. They have 29, but I only managed to visit 26. Outside one, I had to take this picture, so I hope the sign can be read. BTW I didn't buy a single book!

Tracey Alley (traceya) | 485 comments Until you mentioned it Katie I'd almost managed to completely forget about Christmas **grr** Although how any one can possibly forget these days is beyond me - it takes supreme effort to walk past all the displays, toys etc that seem to start infiltrating stores sometime after Easter.

I have to confess to being a little lazy since Uni broke up - I've been enjoying lazy sleep-ins and late night movies. Have to get my act together :)

Hi Brenda,
I was overseas for just over a month and then getting back in to a normal routine took me longer than I anticipated. Thank you for expanding the picture - how did you do that ? It didn't matter how large a file I uploaded it always showed a small picture. I'd forgotten how to post pictures and had to play around so would be obliged if you would tell me the best way of posting.

Lastly how do I make sure that I am aware of comments to anything I post - I changed the e-mail notification just before I went O/S as I didn't want my system 'full' so thought I'd reactivated everything, but I missed your helpful expansion of the book shop picture and only came across it by accident.
Thanks again
Geoff

I went to your profile, found the photo, then saved it into my pictures, then opened my photobucket account... I find photobucket is the best way of uploading photos to the site...

Here's the link to explain how to do it ... http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/3...

At the moment, there is a bug with the notifications going on..GR admin has been working on it FOREVER!! But as long as you make sure everything is activated in your profile... 'edit profile', 'emails', tick everything you want and hopefully it'll work! (I didn't get notification of this post either!!!) I just check everything every now and then to see what I haven't been notified about...there's always posts there!

My year is the first year to not have the year10 school certificate exam so our yearly exams are pushed forward so the teachers can write the reports. Unfortunately after the exams we still have to go to school another 4 weeks.

Yes, fascinating, Brenda. It reminds us that story-telling is a very old and very significant aspect of human existence that can capture our imaginations from our childhood through our adult years.

For today 11/11.

When home they all return and nightmares are now told,
their visions will confirm, they’ll need someone to hold.
So with each morning light, respect for ever more,
for they have earned this right — like those who went before.

Thank you for that, David. My father was at Gallipoli and later on the Western Front until the war's end. He never spoke of it but took me to ANZAC day marches when I was a small boy.

Beautiful words David... if only our politicians remembered the pain of sacrifice as we do perhaps war might become a thing of history.

Faye (lastchapter) | 409 comments Jessy, hats off to you, keep up the good work it is worth it. I am just coming back from a small ligament tear, and I have hated being good and limiting my training. But tonight I am going full on back into it...looking forward to it. If you train hard, you will be strong...what training does everybody do out there anything interesting, I always like to know, I myself, walk, ride bike, treadmill, weights and taekwondo.
