I changed my U/V/W selection to another book which I've listened to during this time (Audiobook). It's fantastic and I recommend the whole Saxon Chronicles by Bernard Cornwell.10/10 completed

MARTINA'S AUGUST CHARACTER ALPHABET PARADE UPDATE - 9/10In the wee hours of this morning I finished Second Skin (Nocturne City #3) by Caitlin Kittredge (★★★). This series is more urban fantasy than PNR. It takes place in relatively present time in the fictional NW city of Nocturne City. Luna Wilder is a city cop and a werewolf. Recently demoted after the events of the last book, she's working in SWAT, but is drawn into an investigation by a previous co-worker when four werewolves are murdered.
In general I liked this book less than the previous two. Sure, the mystery is good and kept me guessing until the very end of the book, but I don't like Luna at all. And I like her dysfunctional relationships even less. Yes, she tries to do the right things and is passionate about her work, but it somehow isn't enough to make me like her. I'll be reading the next book simply b/c I already own it, but if the series continues as it did in this book, I won't be buying more. :-( Here's hoping that Luna gets her act together.

MARTINA'S AUGUST CHARACTER ALPHABET PARADE UPDATE - 10/10 - FINISHED! YAY! WOO-HOO!I finished the challenge, but cut it close with about 25 min to spare! I just finished reading Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah (★★★★1/2). This book is popular fiction, sorta women's lit. It was the book of choice for my neighborhood book club. And, it was fabulous! It takes place in the Seattle area (in which I currently live) and takes you through the lives of Tully Hart and Kate Mularkey starting in the 1970's when they meet at age 14 and continuing through the next three decades. It's foremost a story of friendship throughout all possible hardships. It's about what love is - and what love isn't. It's about family and career and the sacrifices that women make depending on the type of life they choose. It was a darn good read, but the last 30 pages tore me up and I'm feeling pretty emotionally raw right now having just finished them. Gotta go read something trashy next. :-)
