Kevin Xu (kxu65) I just finished Gil's All Fright Diner and The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making. I enjoyed the first book a lot, but not really the second book. Now I just got to Daughter of Smoke and Bone, which could be better, then reading Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.

Jenny (jennyc89) I'm reading a lot of different books right now so I need to finish some of them up. I've added Warbreaker and Nightlife to my currently reading list. I'm enjoying them both, especially Warbreaker.

I need to get to #2, I really enjoyed #1.

I am reading Froi of the Exiles Froi of the Exiles (Lumatere Chronicles, #2) by Melina Marchetta and it is really good. It is so much better than the first one in my opinion.

message 4367: by Faith (new)

Faith McKay (faithmckay) I'm reading Cry Wolf (Alpha & Omega, #1) by Patricia Briggs and am about half way. Really liking it. It's nice since I just went through Mercy Thompson and didn't really feel like leaving that world yet.

Great series! Did you read the prequel? I think it's in On the Prowl. Gives an intro to Anna and her background, also hre her and Charles meet.

I absolutely loved Mouse in the last book when he was a fat, fuzzy puppy. Now, he's a gangly, big-footed, fuzzy puppy and I still love him.

Of course, Mister is still the boss and ruler of all he views

Gavin | 20 comments I'm reading Curse of Chalion by Lois McMaster Bujold.
I bought it four or five years ago. I do not know why I was so hesitant to read this, it's been absolutely superb so far.

Off topic- how do those picture links work?. I just can't figure it out.

Haydensdad | 73 comments Finished The Desert Spear yesterday and moved onto the second in the Night Angel series, Shadow's Edge. So far not enjoying it as much as the first. A little confused at first trying to remember all the characters and the plot turns from the previous book.
Just out of curiosity do I really need to read the Dresden files in order? I know most have recommended this and I only ask because I have 5 sitting in my library bag. Placed holds on most of the series but have yet to receive the third book and have the 5 in the series. So frustrating.....

message 4384: by Katy (last edited Mar 20, 2012 06:32PM) (new)

Katy (kathy_h) Doing a bit of science fiction at present; just finished Blackout and am starting All Clear to finish the book. Started The Book Thief a bit fantasy a bit historical fiction. And am reading a history Byzantium: The Surprising Life Of A Medieval Empire. And today Froi of the Exiles just arrived in the mail. That ought to finish out the month of March for me.

Excellent review I totally agree so far. I wondered why I was having so much trouble reconnecting with the characters and plot twists that led to the opening of the second book. I however will likely push on as my book OCD leaves me compelled to finish a book or series that I have started unless it completely without redeeming qualities.

I would read the Dresden Files in order, otherwise you'll get spoilers for earlier books. If that doesn't bother you, then read away!

Shadow's Edge was confusing to me, too. I had to re-read Way of Shadows just to get up to speed, and found that I liked it better with the second reading. I think the series suffers from First Book Syndrome, where the author has had more immersion into the story and the world than practice telling stories. The Black Prism is his second series, and his growth is obvious.

Chelsea (rocktopusjones) | 338 comments I got my copies of Pawn of Prophecy, Queen of Sorcery, and Magician's Gambit from my friend who had them for three years... I hate when people do that! I just read the first one, and kept having fond flashbacks to college, reading by flashlight while my girlfriend slept. She always hated that damn flashlight, but my relationship with the flashlight is longer than the one with her!

You make me want to crack open my fresh copy of the belgariad! :-)

But I agree...and that's why I don't lend books.

message 4394: by Laura (new)

Laura (booksbytheflame) Now reading The Turn of the Screw for English Literature. Not bad, but it's taking a while for the pace to pick up. I think what doesn't help is the edition I've got has bigger pages than a regular novel with a smaller font so it takes ages to read one page :D

I've been thinking about re-reading the Belgariad/Malloreon myself, but since I have already read them 4-5 times, I think i will re-read the Valdemar series by Mercedes Lackey. I've been putting it off since there are 20 some odd books now!

I'm in the middle of re-reading the Dresden Files now and so have a few days to decide.

Valdemar or Chronicles of the Black Company by Glen Cook?

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) I'm reading three urban fantasy books right now:

Darwin's Children--really liking this one. Has a great X-Men vibe.

A Devil in the Details--off to a good start. I need some good paranormal buttkicking action right now.

Tempest Unleashed--a bit too much angsting longing going on. I'd like more worldbuilding on the mermaid front than "I miss this boy" sighing.

Viv JM I've started on Daggerspella bit early so I have a chance of joining in the discussion in the right month (bit slow with my fantasy reading at the mo). Really enjoying it so far - a good old fashioned fantasy.

People seem to either love or hate The Night Circus, but I loved it. I highly recommend it and I hope you enjoy it if you read it next.

Last night I started Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. This is going to be a fun one.
