But I agree...and that's why I don't lend books. "
I have the most extensive fantasy library of anyone I know, so I'm thinking of making a sign-out sheet.

Don't do it! They'll just use and abuse them...

Oooh! Hard choice!!
I'd vote for Valdemar since you have 20+ where the Belgariad is only 12 (if you count the mallorean, Belgarath, and Polgara...but seriously...I hardly ever read Polgara).

I'm with Carol! I've gotten to the "you touch my book, you pull back a bloody stub" point.

^This.
I've had people either not return books...or return them all messed up. I had one really good friend completely bend a book cover in have (Trade Paperback). I asked her to replace it. After giving me attitude "what's the big deal?? It's just a book. You can still read it." So she just kept the book and did not replace it. I replaced it but I have not been able to get a copy of that edition again.
I realized that most people will not take care of my books the way I need them taken care of. So no lends.

And then there was the time my little sister spilled soda on my hardback copy of Beowulf. Right. No borrowing.

Now, I am resolved to only loan books to people who are as anal about books as I am, and not my HTF books. And I make sure they understand I want the books back!

I figured as much but I'm waiting for the third book from the library while books 4-9 are sitting on the side of my bed waiting to be read. I keep renewing them while I wait for the third but I assume whoever has the third book will want at least one the books I have borrowed. I guess the wait continues and I will have to resort to reading some of my own books I guess.

I am reading Gillespie and I Its very good.

You would totally love this lecture series, then. He goes in-depth for each chapter and discusses a lot of things.
I've noticed a lot more similarities between The Belgariad and Tolkien's work lately.

Then today, book 2 of The Black Jewels Trilogy: Daughter of the Blood, Heir to the Shadows, Queen of the Darkness was delivered. How fortuitous! I'm 15 pages in...
Also enjoying The Darkest Road on audio. It's been on hiatus for a while, but I'm back in Fionivar...

Not sure what I'm going to read next tbh...

I'm so sorry! I know how frustrating that is. O_o

This is a great series, Ursula. I hope you enjoy it. I've already read the first six books and I'm a steadfast Harry Dresden fan.

Reading SciFi at the moment too. The New Space Opera 2."
I'm nearly finished! I love it! It's so clever and so different :)

Haven't picked this one up to read exactly for the reason you've listed. Too many reviews were unimpressed. Anyone like it?

I tried, but it ended up in my DNF shelf. I might pick it up again in the Summer, when I have the time to waste. Its just not...inspiring.
right now I'm happily flipping through Good Omens , Don't know why its taken me so long to finally pick it up.

I read it quite some time ago, got it from the library. I don't remember much about it but did make a note to look for the next book in the series so must have liked it well enough for that at least.

by audio: A Bad Day for Pretty
And by text: Revolutionary Road Gardens of the Moon

=)
(Also, my first Kindle read. I finally did it. Enjoying that too!)

=)
That was a fun quick read - and if there was any doubt that my eyes would not like reading on my Kindle, it is now gone.
Not sure where the books must go to from here... but I'm definitely glad I read the book before going to see the movie. Never realized it was such a recent publish (2008)! That picked up a huge fan base quick.
Doot do doo... what to read/download next.

This morning I started The Bottoms.

Curse of Chalion by Lois McMaster Bujold and
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, both were very good.
Now I'm reading
Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson. These big novels always take a little while to get going.

Good luck because I tried many time to finish it, but never could ever though I found what it said on the back interesting.

I love Harry! Don't you think he is the greatest?
